I was in the middle of playing my game and thought I was saving periodically, which is my habit. At one point my youngest son came upstairs to inform me that his older brother (who had just been here and I was unaware he'd left) texted him to say that my granddaughter was attacked and bitten by a dog at the bus stop. My hubby just now spoke to our older son, regarding Sarah's condition. Two Rottweilers, (that apparently followed her home once) are the same two who bit her. She's in the Children's Center currently, in a great deal of pain, wanting the doctors to knock her out and do the surgery.
They don't know at this time if she's got any broken bones, but she's bruised and coherent, at least.
Apparently, even though I felt calmer than I do now, I forgot to save my game, because I just got back into it and it's back at the top of the day just a couple of hours later than when I began playing. That's okay, I just played through the Starlight Accolades again and he won. But, I'm a wreck at the moment. Sarah is twelve years old, soon to be thirteen at the top of the year. I know in my heart, she's going to be okay, but I can't go see her like this. She needs her grandma to be in control of her emotions and I'm just not at the moment. Mixtures of grief and ANGER. The first time those dogs followed her home, my son called Animal Control, who picked them up. Obviously, they got returned to some very Negligent owners. There is a leash-law where we live. They shouldn't just be out roaming. I'm a dog-owner, too. Rottweilers are a dangerous breed, they can snap just like Doberman Pincers. Now, I have no idea if this is what caused them to attack Sarah or not. But somebody needs to be held accountable.
She was just returning home from school.
Thank you for letting me vent. Those of you who are inclined, please pray for her. She's such a gentle soul.

Thank you so very much. She had surgery last night to clean the wounds thoroughly before they stitched them up. Thankfully, the dogs didn't go for her throat or her head. They got her one of her arms and one of her legs. She may require, later on, plastic surgery. Time will tell. My youngest son is going to take me up to see her today. I'm far more collected than I was last night. Not sure if it will bubble forth again once I get there. My daughter-in-love is a Rock. Talked with her over the phone last night. This is her baby, too, her youngest child of two.

Thank you very much. She will be kept in the hospital for at least another day for observation and to allow them to pump more antibiotics into her, of course. She did have a chip in one of her bones, I think a leg bone, but not certain. Surgery went well. Prayers are always welcome. Thank you.

sending all the healing energies and good vibes your way
(I don't think my prayers would be much use either as i am not all that religious)
although one shall remind themselves it isn't fault of the dog it is always fault of the owner(s) when its this bad
even if I am personally almost sure that terriers are spawn of evil because they always shout forbidden words at me regardless of where i meet them
but maybe they just sense I am in league with cats who knows
most of the other doggos I have met have thankfully been ever so peaceful good bois and girls

Sea may rise, sky may fall, My love will never die..
My heart, my heart, My drowning heart, Oh all the tears I've cried
Oh I may weep forevermore, My love will never die..
Thank you so very much. We went to go see her today at the hospital. She's in very good spirits considering what she's been through. Joking, smiling a lot. Warmed my heart, that much is certain. Her right arm is all bandaged up to protect the stitches, no doubt. Her left leg is also bound up, (hip to toe). While I was in the room (and they only allow two visitors at a time, so my daughter-in-law stepped out) a nurse popped her head in to ask Sarah if she thought crutches or a wheelchair would best suit her. Her father spoke up and said they had considered things and due to the layout of their house with the staircases, that crutches would probably be more suitable. They were looking her over after I left the room so her grandpa could have a visit. She may end up coming home today. We'll have to see.
My understanding is the two dogs are being held for the time.

Thank you so much. You never think something like this will happen to you and yours and then one day . . . she was just walking home from the bus stop. Happily, the curled herself into a fetal position which likely saved her from worse harm or even death. And, a neighbor's quick thinking brought the ambulance to the scene and the dogs were apprehended. Apparently, according to what my granddaughter told me, that same neighbor also had a gun. I told Sarah, that was so she could shoot the dog if need be to save you. Scary stuff to be sure.

Thank you so much. She's doing really well. We went to see her this morning. She's eating, sitting up, animated and her normal sunny self. There's a possibility she may go home today.

Thank you so much. We went to see her yesterday. She looks fine. She's her old perky self, smiling, joking and in very good spirits. Her mom worried that when the medication wears off it will be another story. But the rumor was, even while we were still there, she may have been released yesterday later in the day. Still awaiting a text message to confirm or deny that. My son and daughter-in-law were totally exhausted, as you can well imagine.

So glad she's in good spirits! Hopefully you'll hear good news soon.
Thank you. I was so beside myself I failed to save my game and ended up upon verifying the non-saving of it, had to replay it over again. It's okay, things worked out just fine.
Sarah was able to go home last night. Around 11 PM, what are they thinking these doctors? It's starting to get cold at night these days, finally. Maybe they thought with her whole left leg and foot wrapped in what looked like wide Ace-Bandages, and her right arm, too, that she would be warm enough. At any rate, I'm told she spent today sleeping. She's got to be exhausted for all that's gone on. From the fear of being mauled, to having surgery. She's a tough kid, but still. Thankfully, she curled herself up into a ball during the attack. I do believe that helped save her life. That and the really quick response from the neighbor who not only called for an ambulance, but brought out a gun to take the dogs out, if need be. Yikes.
The dogs are in custody, and my daughter-in-law is not going to let this go. She's got a police report going and is prepared to seek legal help in the matter. I'm a Dog-Lover, so it's hard for me to say this, but these dogs need to be put down. At the very least the owners should lose custody. These two followed my granddaughter home two weeks ago, I just learned. What is up with that? They were friendly enough at that time, but when they got way too close to her this time, she got scared. I'm just so thankful to God, that she is on the mend. We could have lost her.

Thank you so much. She's on crutches, since a wheelchair is impractical the way their house is set up;a two-stair entryway. She has to be home for three weeks, so her parents have to work out how someone can be there with her since they both work. According to my hubby, my daughter-in-law has been able to work it out so that she's there most of the time. I swear that woman is a Rock.

We're all so happy to hear she's home and healing. I'm a dog lover too, but even I get nervous with those big dogs. You just never know how they were trained and that makes all the difference. It's scary because a lot of people buy them partly to use them as protection. If you do that as the owner you have to be extra vigilant to know where they are at all times. Bravo to Sarah, for keeping her wits about her during a scary situation and the neighbor for being on the spot.
I hope your daughter-in-law gets justice and another irresponsible dog owner learns a hard lesson. The dogs getting out one time is one thing, but there is a history of those dogs being loose and that moves things to another level. It was going to happen to someone at some point, sadly it was your granddaughter.
I wish I would stop getting all weepy over this. She's going to be fine. I just feel so badly she had to go through this, you know? How terrifying.

I believe that's what Sarah was trying to express to me when she said there was a gun. I quickly reassured her they weren't going to shoot her, just the dogs if need be to save her.
@DaniRose2143 Now that I have learned it was three men, who dragged her into their yard for safety, I'm guessing the thought was to shoot if the dogs tried to get into their yard? I think Sarah just noticed the gun. Hope so, anyway. To my knowledge, no shots were fired.
