What Have They Done to the Eyeliner?

I don't like using much makeup on my Sims, for personal reasons. But, when they have a very special event, say a wedding for instance, I do indulge in making the Bride and her Maids, mother, look their very best. I was getting my Sims ready for a wedding I thought would be coming up. I was shocked to see the changes to the eyeliner, in particular. Suddenly, the Sims only have a clump of eyelashes in the middle of the top lid. Or that's where the eyeliner stops. What is up with that? Who and in what culture do they pluck the eyelashes out leaving just a small segment. It looks awful! I'm about to go on a hunt to get a mod that overrides this, I'm so appalled.

If you know what mod I should get, please let me know. Thank you, in advance.

I use one by Praline Sims. In fact I use most of that modder's makeup, much more detailed and doesn't look like alpha cc on my sims. Think I got it all from The Sims Resource.

This mod removes the awful EA "eyelashes".

I also use PralineSims eyelashes. They aren't too alpha, which I like, and are tagged as eyeliner instead of glasses, which a lot of the 3D lashes are. These are my favorites, but there are tons more.

I scrolled up and down in my CAS under eyeliner. I haven't had any such cc before. Only eye shades that I removed ages ago. They don't appear to have a full line from corner to the edge of the eye anymore. I admit some of the selections were purely outlandish, but still. I don't know what's up.

I just now opened my game and the Sim waiting for me I didn't recognize as one of my own! In fact, I went to my main save selection and scrolled up and down looking for her. I had thought she was the "keeper" of my builds file. No, it was some dude. I'm either losing my mind, God Forbid, or someone else is able to control things remotely. :open_mouth: I just downloaded some eye defaults by Maggie, I think it was, and some new eyeliner. I shall get into CAS and see what I find. Pray for me, this is a really weird day, so far.

While I'm in CAS, I shall attempt to snap a picture of what I'm seeing.

Oh man! I was watching Family Feud and Steve Harvey went on a rant, an epic rant, on this topic. How so many women are putting on fake lashes and not doing the corners. What set him off was him admiring how the woman he was talking to had actually placed lashes in the corners.

I almost fell out of my chair laughing then and laughing now because you reminded me of it.

So, yes, evidently in the culture that wears false eyelashes this is a thing. They don't put the false lashes at the corners.

The whole false lashes thing was big in the 60s/70s. I was glad when it past. Now, I fear it's made a horrendous comeback. I didn't notice if in RL they had the things battened down at the corners, just that they were so full, you could barely see a person's eyes! Just too phony-baloney looking for my taste.

Oh, and I must add that I had another really good look at the eyeliner in my game. I do now have two mods, one for eye color and another for liner, so I'm hard-pressed to know if the liner one fixed the problem, but I am no longer seeing what I saw yesterday. Unless it was just these very bad eyes of mine. LOL (That's always possible.)

Graphics glitch, maybe? I'd also like to see a picture of this. I haven't noticed anything odd in my game. I have a few wild cc eyeliners, but nothing that fits the picture my mind is drawing from your description.

I have noticed eyeliner looking glitchy/misaligned with some of my sims but I figured it might be something to do with face features cause it happens much more on my self sim than other sims in the game

i mean true can't do eyeliner irl either so I guess thats realistic

I’ve had this happen, too, more than once and I still have no clue…how? The only connection I can think of is maybe I had done a ‘modify in cas’ on them but I usually recognize the unfortunately-dressed townies I give fashion makeovers. Even if it was that, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me because I do that with testingcheats and never leave my active household. It’s a mystery!

See? That's the problem. The only Sims I modify via CAS is my OWN. Truly a mystery.

Based on that, I think I can eliminate modifying-in-cas as the cause when it happens to me. It’s very disorienting when it happens, like, ‘wait, whose game is this?’ lol.

Yes, it is disorienting. When that Sim I don't play at all showed up on top of my page resume play. I went ahead and went in, thinking it had to be a build save I forgot I'd set up. Nope, didn't recognize a thing! Then I went back to the main menu list of saves and scrolled up and down, twice trying to find this Sim save. She wasn't among the saves in that file. :open_mouth: I think I took a little walk into the Twilight Zone.

I laughingly sympathize! Remember Third Rock from the Sun, if you ever watched that? Ms. Dubachek (not sure of spelling) the middle-aged landlady with the flashy taste, was of the type who still wore fake eyelashes, at the time. They were practically a standing joke, except for drag performers or those grizzled ladies who were determined that their youth could be pried from their cold dead fist only after the funeral. Had to admire them.

So when young women started wearing falsies, not just for some costume event, but in earnest, in daily life, I was surprised. Also a bit worried that it meant that the pressure to be eye candy at all times, and the raising of that bar to heights no one can scale without prosthetics, was a sinister sign of the reverse of progress for women's rights and cultural value in a patriarchal society.

Current events do seem to show that this is the case.

Being attractive is a personal choice of course, but having the standards to which one must adhere become ever harder to reach, and one's value in society if one does not adhere to them, or rebels against them, demonstrates the oppression that works against their having an equal voice and choice.

I mostly give my sims the thinnest base eyeliner.

Hmm, hadn't noticed. I mostly stick to the lipstick and __light__ blush, much like I do in real life. I've never been a big fan of the eye makeup options available in TS4, but I don't really miss it. At most, I'll sometimes use the most simple cat-eye liner option for a few of my more Goth (or otherwise dramatic) sims.

That being said, I'm still making adjustments after the saturation changes from a few years ago. I have a large rotational save, so once in a while I still come across a sim in the wild, from a household I haven't played in a really long time, who initially had subtle blush and now looks like a clown. New options are usually good, but some of the TS4 makeup choices are... questionable.

Yes, me, too. I stopped wearing any kind of make-up, eye or otherwise about two years ago. I feel so liberated.
