Don't You Just Hate It When …

«13
…things happen in the game so quickly, you can't even snap a picture of it! Louise dropped by the dorm and for some odd reason many of the students were in the common lavatory. Kayleigh was there, too. Erik went to give his mother a hug, becoming Best Friends, but as they moved about Erik gave his mother a big hug, with Kayleigh right in between them. Interesting sandwich, that. But it was over so fast, I couldn't capture the image in time. I was able to capture Erik leaning back, though. Just isn't the same.

So, please play along and fill in the blanks. Don't you just hate it when __________________.

Don't you just hate it when...you pay nearly £1000 for a game that you can no longer play due to game breaking patches?!
Yep. That's the main one for me!

I feel your pain, but please, let's keep this thread Sim gameplay related. Thank you.

Don’t you hate it when your sims get a slice of the cake before you got time to add the candles 😭😭

Yes, I do, but lately, Sims are still able to grab a piece of cake even if there are burning candles atop it! Happily, for a brief time, the birthday Sim could still blow out the candles and age up. But, that no longer is the case. Ah, me.

Yes! Mentally I have an image of me as a Sim, slapping away that grabby hand and giving them a good scolding.

Don't you just hate it when you hire a caterer for a fancy wedding and they make everything BUT wedding cake so you end up having one of the couple getting married, busy baking their own wedding cake?

I need to remember to do this beforehand and put it in their inventory, cake topper and all so no greedy sim can grab a slice before it's properly wedding-ized!

Omg yes getting out of bed just to pass out on the floor! Sims really are stupid sometimes :D

I’ve never actually hired a caterer for a wedding or any other kind of event. Seems like I shouldn’t!

Unfortunately, when setting up these events you can't escape choosing a caterer and mixologist. But, I use the Banquet tables, nevertheless. That way the Cook can go about and do their own thing and my guests get treated to something other than sweets, only.

I wish we could just go back and purchase them in Build/Buy mode as before. That way all you have to do is pause the game purchase the cake, and voila all is well. Except for that starving rude Sim who can't wait for cake! Oi!

Huh, I’ve done loads of weddings and not needed to choose a caterer or mixologist.

When you're cooking a meal and just before you've finished your sims partner walks into the kitchen and grabs something out of the fridge.

Another one is when your sim is in a bar or nightclub and you find that special someone, you queue up "invite to stay the night", and some random townie suddenly inserts themselves into your conversation removing the queued action, your sim gets stuck talking them and the potential woohoo partner leaves the lot.

I don't know what's causing this to happen but my Sims have a tendency to use the sink that's not in the same bathroom they used the toilet in (they'll travel to ANOTHER bathroom to use the sink after they're done), and it's only recently they've been doing this. Might be a bug with this patch or whatever.

I am just going omggg me tooo to all these

Anoter thing I just hate is the pee walk - meaning the sim takes three times as long to reach the toilet. There was a time the would dash to reach the toilet when their bladder need was red. Or was that sims 3 ?

It was both Sims 2 and Sims 3 yes (since Sims 3 reused a lot of its animations and framework from 2)

As a storyteller who does a lot of group activities, it drives me nuts that the average sim's attention span is like 0.05 seconds. I'm trying to get a group together around a table to shoot a scene. As the last sim sits, the first sim gets up to go do something totally random. It reminds me of acrobats, one stands on the teeter-totter and another one jumps on the other end and launches them.

Edit to add a better analogy

Yeah, I noticed this shortly after the Patch prior to HSY. It's crazy-insane.

I do my best to cancel those actions, by sending the fridge-raiding Sim off on another task. Sometimes it works, sometimes, not so much. :open_mouth:

There should be a way to lock the fridge, you know?

I just had my young Sim couple go out on a date. For most of the time, she kept getting up. Happily, I was able to control her, since they live in the very same dorm at university, but still. I was constantly having to send her back to their table to sit and chat. It's a wonder they got a Legendary date out of it!

I have to say it took a very long time before I stopped laughing at that walk. A very long time.

Since I'll be using one of my backup saves to stage Matteo's proposal I'm going to merge everybody into one household and disable autonomy and see if that helps. That save is the one I keep for special occasions like this. When I'm done I can exit without saving and I don't wreck anything. We'll see if it works. It's a bit of a pain in the butt to have to do something like that just to get a group of sims to stick together for a few minutes. It's like, guys, all I need is for you to stay together and focus for like 20 minutes, 30 tops.😆
