Although I wonโ€™t be investing in any kits for the moment, these are definitely the kind of items my sim children would wear. Itโ€™s a nice, natural selection.
I do enjoy vibrant colors, however, being an outdoor lover I have a preference for functional wear and earthy tones, also on kids.

You see, what IF, hypothetically, you are- as a kid OR adult - somehow forced to seek cover, hide yourself in a bush, a barley field, a dusty hole in the earth or up in the higher branches of a tree in the unfortunate event of being chased by a farmer with a shotgun, someoneโ€™s mum / dad / husband or perhaps a murderous, alien axe cult? Personally, I havenโ€™t experienced the latter yet, but in any case you wouldnโ€™t want to be wearing hot pinks, toxic greens, heatwave yellows or lethal blues would you now? Thatโ€™d be so, so disappointing.
Letโ€™s only hope the pursuers donโ€™t have dogs with noses.

Purchased the pack because these clothes are great for kids.

These outfits are a big improvement over the dreck we've had for so long. I'm not a huge fan of the pants the girl is wearing in your pictures, but they're no where near as bad as most pants. At least they ended somewhere in the vicinity of her ankles. Pants are still an item that are lacking any wow factor. I love those tops, and that backpack is really cute. I'm another simmer who loves the muted colors. I love brights and crazy patterns, but I also love having toned down outfits too. My own wardrobe is heavy on black, white, and grey and I find that I have a tendency to dress my sims in those same colors quite a bit.

I might just risk the update today and get this kit, or wait until the Desert Luxe kit drops. I only have one sim in my played households that's not a young adult or older, and she's a teen, so this kit isn't a big need at the moment. I will have plenty of toddlers and kids soon as the households in my story start building their families.

Kinda hate how much I've been loving these kits. I personally love the muted colors... very much the kind of thing my real life preteen loves to wear. He's excited to use a few of the items on his self sim, too. I do agree that a few brighter shades wouldn't have hurt, but I'll probably just recolor a few things myself.

@FurAndYarn That's a good point about recolors. I've never done a recolor, I've seriously thought about it, but it seems like that would be much easier than trying to create a quality mesh. They've done that hard part for us.

@DaniRose2143 I just recently taught myself to do basic recolors (with all free programs) and it's actually pretty simple. It's not the quality of the "pro" mod creators... I have a LONG way to go until I'm doing more complex recolors and making my own meshes... but I'm happy with how they look in my game.

@FurAndYarn What programs did you use? I'd love to try my hand at it. I have run across some tops that I love but struggle to find the right pairing for because the colors or patterns don't work with some of my favorite bottoms.

I have a question: Will we actually get the new family photo pose shown on the promo pic with the mother and the two kids? At some point at least? Now THAT would be something I'd be highly interested in!

@DaniRose2143 I use GIMP for the image editing and then Sims Studio is needed for getting the necessary files to edit. I highly recommend looking up YouTube tutorials because it will explain WAY better than I could. This one was the first I watched, but I watched many to really get a good idea of what I needed to do.

@83bienchen I have been very curious about that too. I would love to see that without need of a mod or poses.

@FurAndYarn Cool, I already have Gimp. I'll check out the videos after I get my housework done. Thank you so much!

@DaniRose2143 Recolours are pretty easy with Sims 4 Studio. I export the texture out and change it in Photoshop, but Gimp would definitely work. Just remember to make sure the PNG texture you save has a transparent background. Here's an example of the Get to Work boots with two new colours.

One on the left is Maxis black which looks dark grey to me. Middle one is my darker black, last is a cerise one. For the shiny highlights I'll look at adding a specular map later but its not needed for recolours.

@Jade47 Thank you. I'm on vacation but hanging around the apartment. I have lots of free time for the next week to experiment with this when I'm not working on a new episode(s?) of my story.

    yeah still meh

grey is pretty much only "exciting" in knits, suits, fur, hair, gothic wear and on Vlad
and I don't really see any of that there

muted colors eh sure but I just don't find these particular clothes exciting

also I don't really like clothes with strange fits like basic shirt tied at back for no reason whatsoever it just looks uneededly uncomfy for comfy wear

also my sim kiddos don't really dress realistic they just dress like they're planning evil world domination or something ive no excuses so like this kit just aint that for me

I usually play the first half of my kid's age span as a true "kid" IE ages 7-10 and the second half as a sort of "tween" ages 11-13 and because of that I think this kit is great for the second half. I haven't bought it yet because I want to vote with my dollar and wait for some game fixing patches (even though quite frankly my game works fine) but I will buy it eventually.

    Meh.

Why is it so hard for them to make things for male sims? Once again, they get the short end of the CAS stick.

Right now, I feel no need to buy this kit. I do wish there were some colorful swatches. I don't use CAS CC. So what comes with the game is all I get. I like having muted colors but I also have some sim townie children who are bright and colorful.

I'm also with the rest of you, "voting with my wallet", I'm holding off on buying more stuff till they put some serious effort into fixing all the bugs and glitches.

@CarpeNocheSims I feel like they either have data that says women make up the majority of simmers, or internally that's what the team believes is true. It extends into the cc community, the vast majority of which is feminine. I think the general view is The Sims is digital dolls and wrongly stereotyped as a game for women and gay men. It's a horrible stereotype but it still feels like that's what drives the content to be so heavily female centered.

I'm female and I play almost exclusively female characters but I still have male characters in my saves. Now more than ever with my story save. I would love to see more and better selections for male sims. My poor dudes look so tragic next to their stylish ladies. There is a glimmer of hope with more quality items showing up on the cc sites, but that does nothing to help those who either can't use cc, or simply don't want to.

I don't think from the Maxis/EA side that is going to change anytime soon, but if people keep banging the drum maybe they'll finally do something to level the field.

I love the muted colors. Reminds me of Incheon Arrivals which is one of my favorites. Sometimes I get tired of brights and busy patterns for the kiddos. Plus you can pair it with some of the existing colorful items in game.

I like them too, and I like the actual garments. I just wish there brighter swatches included as well.

Honestly the more I see, the more impressed I am. Lots of things for male children, and the quality just gets better and better. Only two pairs of shoes but I love them both.

Although I'm playing with a family that has a teen and toddler, I do have a lot of child Sims in game.

Decided to max and match some of the the new kit items with other CAS items.

Aww rats! I was going to skip this kit, I have very little to do with kiddos but at some time, I want this kit. The clothes are great for the everyday kid look and I love the muted colors. I am still recovering from looking at Carnival Beats. :D

@DaniRose2143 One of my sim friends and I were recently laughing that all our male sims wear the same pair of jeans. One pair of jeans are truly masculine (I can't see my spouse or son wearing any of the other jean options in this game).

I also think that EA has their data skewed. Yes, I mostly play a single female sim. However, she has tons of male and female friends. Her female friends are stylish and all dressed differently. Her male friends all pretty much wear the same outfits in different colors. I'd love more options for them. I'd also love more options for the children in my saves. Just because I never play them doesn't mean I don't enjoy seeing them out in the world. It always makes me smile seeing one of my townie parents hugging their child or watching them play with their friends at the park (I set up clubs and they're all friends).

Also to touch on the gay sims, not all gay sims are dressed like that Del Sol Valley sim! Some of them dress more like Neal Patrick Harris in understated elegance. I hate that there aren't more options for males of any persuasion.

This kit is alright if you play urban sims. I just don't see any of my sim children dressing in any of these outfits. This kit will be a hard pass for me. I even bought that dreadful male outfits kit! This is the only content that I've passed on. After the nonstop issues since MWS? I doubt it will be the last.

@DaniRose2143 @CarpeNocheSims I agree with what you said about clothing options for male Sims. I've had to "shop" quite a bit in CC in order to find the kinds of basic clothing I would wear myself. My daughter, our family's CAS specialist, uses quite a bit of this custom content to dress our male Sims.

The male Sims in our world tend not to be too glittery, regardless of their orientation. The tight, flashy, sparkly items don't often make their way into our guys' wardrobes, unless we double or triple down on it to create a bit of comic relief.

@CarpeNocheSims @MoonlightGraham The options in jeans are bad, but that's an issue for male and female sims. They just cannot make a decent pair of jeans. Everything in bottoms for men is cargo pants, cargo shorts, and sweats. And it seems like what's passing for content for male sims is just making items unisex or hipster. I don't have very many male sims with a casual outfit that I truly like.

The cc community helps but even then the selection is still really lacking. It's all the same items with different colors or crazy patterns. I have some sims who the crazy patterns work on because it fits their personality, but those are the exceptions. Back to the jeans, even when I find ones that have a decent cut, not baggy, they're almost always ripped or high water. What is the obsession with ripped jeans. Yes, I use them on my sims but on outfits where I'm going for something super casual.

All of my gay men are like the Heckings, understated, just two guys going about life like everybody else, not trying to make fashion statements. Izzy Fabulous is the only one I routinely have dressing flamboyantly because it fits my perception of his personality, but also some of that is just not wanting to take the time to mess with giving him a makeover.

@Hearts4u love the way you styled those outfits. If I get time to play today I'm going to create some outfits using the new pack and existing kids clothing. I don't usually pay much attention to little boys outfits but this pack has really motivated me.
