My Erik was cooking for Labor Day and dropped a sausage. He didn't even look around to see if others were watching. He just popped that thing back on the grill.

I just loaded my game and Nigel came back from work, having only been there for about an hour. Ugh. He barely went to his first day, as he was on a community lot when the notification came and the game went back to the home lot since Melanie was there, and he came home instantly having earned the grand total of one simoleon. Now his work performance isn’t great. I guess I can circumvent this issue by saving and quitting when he’s not at work, but it’s still a pain in the butt.
I would exit without saving, go back in and pick up where you left off. I know there was a bug quite awhile back where Sims wouldn't go to work. I've never really confronted that one until now. For some odd reason the YA in my game keeps forgetting to go to work. He doesn't start until 2PM in the game, so the fact he goes to church services in the morning doesn't hamper him or prevent him from going to work. I don't know. If I exit without saving, his next younger brother's progress would get lost. That's my Star. I don't want to lose albums he's working on, etc.
ETA: My Sims have been able to go to work from Community lots. I brought Aaron to the high school so I could cheat up his needs before I sent him from work, from there.
@GalacticGal , at least once it used to be that if you have a dollhouse, any aged sim can join playing with toddler , no matter what traits were. Does it fullfill want, no idea..
I don't have a dollhouse on this lot. I did think about getting one, before I decided to switch off the darned system, instead. My Sims spend way too much time playing with it, no matter what their age! It' mostly a nuisance to have.
I had small toddler playpen (small fence and gate from that toddler stuffpack) and it was locked for those I did not want to get to play with dollhouse or smash teddy bear
Is this toddler stuffpack cc? Or did I miss this one? I suppose I could create a 'playyard' and lock the gate against anyone but Adrian. Not sure I have that much space on the second floor, however. Marvelous solution, though!

I know that even Adults (and likely Elders) as well as Teens can play with the dollhouse. But when I scanned the curser over the Want it suggested placing two toys on the ground near each other and have each Sim click on a toy. The Toddler could play with the toy, of course. But my Teen could only view it or put it away. I don't believe playing with a dollhouse will fulfill this Want, it's too specific.
@GalacticGal he did go to work, so that’s something. Plus he did eventually stay there (third time lucky ) but soon got the dead end job fear. I’ve not had many fears so far, just that and “fear of unfulfilled dreams” for Melanie, but I’ve not found it too irritating (yet…) I was intending for Georgia to be an only child, but one of Melanie’s wants was to try for a baby so now she’s pregnant again. I’ve got a good name in mind too.

Hi all! It's been awhile since I've been able to post. Unfortunately, the last patch wrecked my save file. I know others are also experiencing their own bugs, so I won't really delve into the details. In the end, I just decided to take a small break from the game. Taking a break honestly helped a lot more than I thought it would.
When I was ready to play again, I made a new save file and just plopped down some of my favorite lots. I decided I was going to remake my favorite Sim as a teenage so I could experience the new pack. So far, the new save file has been mostly bug free and I've been having some fun with HSY.
It's just my Sim, Johnny, living in Willow Creek with his single dad. Johnny's a music lover and an aspiring musician, but for now, he's just a mischievous teen enjoying his high school years. He met a fellow student at school, Emiliano, and the two hit it off instantly.
One evening after school, they went on a date to the pier. Unfortunately, it was "mystery weather" and it started pouring down. Despite the storm, Johnny and Emiliano continued with their date. Maybe not the best idea...
Another night, Johnny was at the pier with some friends after school. He was playing the guitar when a stray cat approached him and starting meowing along to the music. (I have a mod installed to allow strays and dog walkers in every world.) It was super cute, so Johnny gave the cat a friendly introduction and a treat.
The next day after school, Johnny was working on his homework outside the auditorium and the cat came over to greet him.
I'm a dog person IRL and in The Sims, but this randomly generated cat was somehow winning me over.
Then, no joke, the cat showed up outside Johnny's house running around the neighborhood as a stray. She stopped right next to Johnny's mailbox and started meowing. I had Johnny queue up and interaction with her to greet her, and she walked up to his front door and plopped down to wait for him.
That was it. Johnny has a pet cat now.

One night after a rock climbing session, he and his dad went bowling together. Johnny got cocky after one strike... he still lost though.
His dad is literally impossible to beat in a pillow fight.
The stray cat Johnny adopted, Tuna, was scratching on the ottoman. Douglas scolded the cat, but Tuna hissed and raised her paw like she was going to do it again in front of him.
Johnny brought his guitar to school one day and serenaded his boyfriend after class.
At one prom, Emiliano won prom royalty.
If I hadn't been watching her so closely, I would swear Summer's been into the juice. I say that because I've made a similar face too...after half a bottle of wine and more rum and cokes then I could count.😁
Welcome back, @NightlyCoffee I missed your stories. You and I are rather like-minded. I started what I called a Flashback save for Erik to attend High School. I had to reset and now I'm starting it all over from scratch. It will become the Main Save, in the end. Long was no longer Long, and when I started him out in the new save, I started it in the Fall, so they could begin school. Only problem was, Erik no longer had his songs. He busily wrote sixteen songs, for which he won his first Starlight Accolade. But none were left. Not only that, but he was still a Global Superstar, without a Tile in the new save. Face/palm.
It's great to see Johnny and Emiliano, as Teens. Have fun, I intend to do so, also.
@BlueSeaWaves I finally got time to read the latest installment of Collette's story. It's great that Aaron can stay with her. Her father sounds like a very irresponsible and toxic sim. With Colette, Aaron has someone who truly loves him and will look after him. It's hard on her but Aaron is in good hands. And by the way he is absolutely adorable.❤
I loved your update, and Tuna was a fun surprise! I haven’t gotten the new expansion pack yet, but I do plan on getting it. I stopped rushing to buy packs because of bugs and the lack of refreshes for packs.

As for the party, it went well, but it didn’t go as well as I hoped. Too many merpeople are in my game, and it was a challenge to get everyone to show up. In the end, Dylan, Cecelia, Barnaby, and Wade didn’t show up until the end of the party. The game simply wouldn’t let them arrive sooner.

As for my mermadic attire:
My merfolk have 2 different outfits! Their first outfit is their mermadic attire.
Mermen are always shirtless in their merman form, so they are shirtless in their mermadic attire.
Mermaids would follow a similar appearance, but there are obvious limitations to that.
As far as my thought process is concerned, the mermadic attire is just a way to express their mermadic identity in human form. I mean, I don’t even consider their human form to be a natural form, and my merfolk have to expend energy to maintain that form. For my merfolk, their human form is neither their most comfortable form or an easy form to maintain. My merfolk are much more comfortable in their merman or mermaid form, that includes the outfits they wear in that form.
Their second outfit is typically whatever they wear to blend in with humans, but for my story, it’s a much more uncomfortable outfit. And human outfits don’t represent mermadic culture.
For the players, their mermadic attire should be easy to update if you prefer to use CC or don’t have the packs that I have. If you have the packs I have, I wouldn’t be upset if their mermadic attire was deleted.

Personally, I want a refresh for Island Living that enhances merfolk gameplay, but I’m mostly watching for a trend of refreshes. I think, if they finish more refreshes, I would be buying more packs sooner! So far, only Spa Day has had a refresh.
