This must be this issue: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/Age-days-amount-not-changing-when-changing-life-span
I opened another one for my own problem with the messed up ages after reloading an old save, which is possibly different: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/Short-lifespan-Ages-are-messed-up-when-loading-an-old-save-with
As an added note here, MCCC has the old default Maxis age lengths still, not the new ones. If you want the new ones and use MCCC, set them in MCCC manually.

This is a change I would definately have liked to be included in the patch notes.
I can understand that they want to prolong the teen life stage for the pack. However teens are so much alike young adults an older in terms of what they can do, that this is not a very useful change for those who don't have the pack. I wish the team woud have changed the lifespan of all lifestages, including toddlers and children. Now the proportions between the different age groups has changed with even more time shifted towards things that can be done by teen+ sims (which covers like 90% of the game content?). I prefer playing toddelrs and children over teens so I would have like for their lifespan to have remained in the same proportions as the teen lifestage. I guess I will have to start aging up teens prematurely like I did back in sims 2 or start using the mccc setting to adjust life spans.
And I do not understand why this was and still isn't communicated properly.
This has huge impact for legacy gameplay and for myself it raises a question: if the the lifestages have (apparently) only been changed for normal lifespan, what does that mean for HSY on short lifespan? Will this be even worse? And yes, I know some things are harder on short lifespan (which is kind of the point) but I still would like to be able to enjoy every feature I paid for. So far I have not got HSY because of all the mess and am now really worried, because I only ever play on short lifespan and would not be able to use normal lifespan (I found normal be way to long even before the recent changes and now it's even worse).
And yes, it's gives some "let's bore everyone with 3 weeks of shallow teens so that they get the new pack" vibes... Or "oh, we copied so much from university that we now have the change the duration of school, too"...
A little more transparency would be really helpful.

.
I was also thinking about university and all the simmers on this forum who said to temporarily turn off aging while playing through university. I would have preferred that approach (or lack of approach) Players can pause aging when they want to focus on a certain phase in the sims lives (high school or university) but prolonging the teen lifestage for every sim teen, with or without the pack, feels like overreacting on this issue.
I've had the opposite problem. Normal and Long are identical to short.
What? That's dismal news. I always play on Long because I want more time with my Sims. Guess I'll have to go back to playing the way I did in Sims2. Keep aging off until it's time for a Sim or Sims to age up. Then shut it off again. Sheesh. Come on, EA, get it together, please!

@Sharonia for normal lifespan the new EA defaults are:
Baby: 2 days (same as before)
Toddler: 7 days (same as before)
Child: 13 days (same as before)
Teen: 21 days (up from 13)
Young adult: 24 days (the same I think)
Adult: 33 days (up from 24)
Elder: 14 days (up from 10)

Thank you, do you by any chance know what it is for the long lifespan?
ETA: you can test it by taking out all mods and starting a new game with a teen, a YA, an adult and an elder. Have them take a potion of youth to send them to the very start of their life stage (even newly created sims tend to start a few random days in) and see how many days the game says they have until age up.

Yes, I totally agree!
