New game start in Map Mode?

Like previous games.

I really don’t understand why in the sims 4 we have to start with CAS first, creat a sim, move them into a lot and only then we can go to map mode.

I like playing with premade households, sims and lots. It’s so annoying to me that we need to go through all this just to finally see the world and the pre-made resident.

What do you think? I don’t really use mods but if their is any solution, I’m willing to try (:

I haven't seen any mods that allow you to bypass CAS. They may exist but I haven't seen it. There are times when I start a save with the intention of focusing on playing one of the premade households, like the Goths or BFF. It would be a nice option to just pop in and have the game ask if you want to select an existing household or go to CAS to create one. Have two buttons on the main menu, new game stays like it is now and you start at CAS, and a second button that says something like Let's Play and it takes you straight to the world selection page.

I agree. I like checking out all the lots and pre-mades before figuring out how I want to play.

I think the ideal solution is to have the choice whether to start in CAS or the map view when starting a new game. It really is a small quality of life tweak, and I'm not sure why there's never been an update for it.

    • > Turn vacation worlds into residential worlds.
    • > Option to purchase separate worlds or a world pack.
    • > Sleepwear kit.
    • > Atomic age kit.

    What I do is:
    1. Make a throw away sim in CAS, move them into an empty lot then delete them.
    2. Save that save under something like “Base Start DO NOT DELETE” or “Fresh Start DO NOT DELETE”.
    3. So now I just open that save, immediately do a “save as” and rename it to whatever I want it to be and continue on without having to go into CAS each time.

I think it is a hangover of the original idea of the game - load game, create sim, play that sim in an online world of other sims.

I totally agree and I think it would be fine to just highlight the CAS option when loading a world for the first time. It’s pretty intuitive anyway. Having to create a throwaway sim is such a waste of time.

I like to set up my world first then add my sims, so I agree I would like to go directly to a world and enter CAS if and when I want. I use my own sims and can replace the one in CAS easily enough but it is still an extra step when I really want to start in the world first.

That's my theory too. The original game idea was to be online playing with other RL people so you wouldn't really have "pre-mades" to play because all of the people you'd encounter in the world be controlled by other players.

I just randomly assign a name, aspiration, and traits to what ever default sim pops up move them into an emptying lot and then immediately evict them. I too play premades often and wish we could choose whether or not we could bypass CAS. I’m hoping the new resume feature is a step onto that road maybe?

I agree with this. I rarely play with premades, but what I like to do is prepare my world before even moving my Sims in. Like putting some commercial lots in the world (spa, restaurants etc.) or even making house for my Sims before they will move in. None of that I can do in Sims 4 before creating and moving in a Sim and that really bothers me. Honestly, IMO this is the first thing they should fix after the decision to move from online to offline game was done. I doubt it would be that much work, anyway.

I read that they were supposed to do this for the patch before Cats and Dogs. It's been almost 5 years and I guess they just forgot 🤷🏽‍♂️

I do this as well except I feel bad for the Sim and try and incorporate them. 😂🤦🏼‍♂️.

Great idea. I never thought to do that. I made a throw away sim a while back that I load in CAS and stick in some out of the way place, usually across the hall from the Bheeda's and then forget about him.

I usually play my own sims and have some in mind when I start a game. I just pulled them out of my library and replace the new one in CAS. I am glad they have that option if you don't want to make a new sim.
