Sickness Mods

Are there any good sickness mods out there? I don't want anything too lethal or insanely contagious, but I want my Sims to actually be affected when they develop an illness beyond a weak moodlet that goes away after a couple of hours.

(I was using Slice of Life, but I've removed it because there's some other aspects of the mod I don't like.)

Thanks :)

I don't use slice of life myself however, I have seen that it is broken up into "modules" now so that you can just use the elements you like from the mod?

Otherwise, there is Private Practice by SimRealist & Healthcare redux by adeepindigo. I've used Private Practice and I liked it, but I think there's been a lot of updates since I last used it, so I can't comment on the current version of the mod. Healthcare redux I've yet to check out but I've watched some YouTube videos on it and it looks interesting, if not a little bit buggy when it comes to booking doctors appointments etc. But you can check them out for yourself and see if they are what you are looking for :)

I tried to do that with Slice of Life but I couldn't get rid of all the things I disliked, so I gave up and just yanked the full mod out!

Private Practice looks really good and in-depth, so I think I might give that a go.

    Thank you :)

    This seems promising!

I was actually looking for a specific mod on mod the sims but I found this on google instead.
I'm going to try it out

I used to use Private Practice. It's a really well made mod, and I enjoyed it until recent additions. I was not a fan of their addition of the flu and cold, because it was causing all of my sims and every single NPC to be sick and miserable 24/7. They have since adjusted it, but I still find it a little too excessive. I also disliked that I needed to go to an active clinic every single time my sims needed treatment. While I love the option to do that, sometimes I just want to send the sick sim to the clinic alone and stay at home and work on another sim in the household. Going to the clinic would sometimes take all day, especially if the whole household got sick. I do believe they have plans to add rabbitholes back.

I'm currently using adeepindigo's Healthcare Redux, and honestly, I think it's more enjoyable and has more options. While it does add deadly diseases, it has a nondeadly version (I use that one). I also really love the prenatal additions and the chronic conditions your sims can have.

I've also been using the Private Practice mod by SimRealist. I definitely suggest the mod for use in your game if you're big on immersion.

    Thanks all, really helpful :)

I don't like having to attend appointments with my sims (I much prefer rabbitholes), so I switched out Private Practice and at the moment am just using Nies Cooler Sickness Mod. But I think I'll give Healthcare Redux a go.

On the other hand, I'm loving the brand new iteration of Private Practice. Yes, my Sims have allergies, but you can get medication to quell those pesky symptoms. I just sent six Sims to Uni to dorm together. I was unaware of the patch until I got out of my game after it wouldn't save. Makes me wonder what's going on. I feel as if I've been knee-capped. So far only MCCC has been given the all-clear, but while I do use that one a lot, the other one so very necessary to this game save is Road to Fame. It's hard to be a Rock Star without it. :open_mouth: He's also getting photoshoots and invitations to make movies (character roles). He was also allowing his brothers and sister to gain the royalties from his music, while he banked (SNB & Bills mod) his concerts, photo sessions and film roles for himself. But the game stopped saving and I'm vexed, else I wouldn't have patched right away. Gr.

    Oooof, that's unfortunate @GalacticGal . lol
Yeah, there happen to be a few ones out there for medical enhancements, but I will be giving more of these mods a try.

Oh no @GalacticGal, that's not good :( Patching always feels risky to me when you rely on mods. I usually have Origin permanently offline (unless I specifically need the gallery) to avoid any surprise patches, so I can wait until all the mods I use are updated.
I hope you get your game fixed soon.

Healthcare Redux: There are some aspects I'm not keen on, it's maybe a bit more in-depth than I'd like, but I'm going to keep playing with it and see how I get on :)

I use Nies's Cooler Sickness mod, and it's been the right amount of change for me. Not too noticeable, just more intense and longer buffs.

Hey! Just joinig the convo to ask something haha. I use cooler sickness, as it is the one that feels less invasibe and realistic for me. Like, I have enought with real life, but still want to have some more deepness in the game. The thing is, when my sim gets sick it is imposible for me to cure them no matter what I try. As a last resource i remove the buffs with MCC, but still the next time they get sick it is uncurable. I play with long life spam, so IDK if that would have something to do with it, but yeah, any idea on how to fix this or what may be causing it?

    @agologa

If you have testing cheats on, if you shift click your Sim, there's an illness pie menu called Illness System that can be used to remove the illnesses.

While these mods are great, they don't really touch on mental health outside of a few basic diseases (which may be a good thing, lol, given the backlash you can get if you represent diseases in a certain way). While I"m tempted to try out Private Practice, I'm such a fan of adeepindigo's work that I instinctively gravitate towards their versions of mods. XD

Healthcare Redux has been updated recently (March 11th, version 3.1.3); it's working fine in my game:

It's now modular so you can pick and choose which aspects you want/don't want.

Well, thank you for the Heads up. I do admit that it has been a while since I last checked on it. So happy to know, it's now updated. All of my Sims are struggling with illness since I returned the updated Private Practice to my Mods folder. Do they interfere with each other, do you know? I like PP for the fact my would be physician can go to Med School, as the proper next step in succession.

What happens in the Healthcare Redux one when a sim has chronic illness? I guess I'm probably spoiling the fun by asking... I have a chronic illness and I'm not sure yet if I want to play it in the game. It's normally my escape. But I have really desired the sims to represent disability and chronic illness. So it would help me to hear what the chronic illness feature does exactly, to help me figure out whether I'll feel ok trying it.
