The only sims 4 multiplayer I want to see is if it's like a minecraft server. I make it, I invite my friends, and no one else touches it. Sure, there could be some big ones created, like there are in minecraft, but I'll have nothing to do with them, thank you.
No. I do play other MMOs, but tbh, there are lots of games out there that I can play when I want that experience, and they all do it better than EA would. Conversely, as much as I feel that TS4 is lacking in many ways, there's not really anything else out there currently that offers the same experience. I don't want a Sims MMO any more than I want a battle royale in my favorite MMORPG.
Games/franchises should stick to what they do best and keep trying to do even better in their own niche, instead of trying to be all things to all people.
I voted no.
I just don’t think it can be managed in the way I would like.
I’d be up for playing with nominated family and friends. And when you’re offline your town is paused with no risks.
What puts me off:
The idea of strangers coming in and making changes is horrifying! 😱
Plus most online games require constant connection and people can still affect changes when you aren’t around. It’s too stressful.
In the war games I play you have to put up a shield to protect your base but the longest is 3 days. So you still need to be online at least twice a week to maintain a shield.
These aren’t free, you have to buy gems 💎 . You can only win 8 hour or 24hr shields.
You have to find the right group who will help you. The first two groups I was in were fun but the latest is more task oriented so less chat.
I wouldn’t like to do this for any Sims games at all. I imagine micro transactions would be constant. Or some subscriptions being made available to advance quicker.
If it was an optional add-on to Sims 5, I'd try it out once to troll and harass people. You know, just have my sim constantly slapping others. But other than that, I'm not interested in a multiplayer experience for a game like The Sims.

I definitely would not like to play a sims game where my sims town could have people come change things in it for sure. I figured if they had single player and multiplayer, they would be totally different games.
I will have to see what is actually like, but I don't think I would play sims as an MMO, especially if there is a subscription required. I don't care for micro transactions either. If I buy a game, I wouldn't want to pay to play. I play ESO occasionally but buy expansions if I want it rather than pay a subscription. I enjoy ESO but get frustrated with the constant interference from other players, i.e. in dungeon and someone just runs through causing the bad guys to come at me in force because that person won't stay and deal with the chaos. I am mainly a lone player, as most of my friends and family don't play alot of games that I do. Have been playing more Skyrim than ESO lately as found I wasn't enjoying the online game. I am also concerned that with the new technology I would have to buy a higher end computer and can't afford it right now. The new computers are very expensive. Besides, I have Sims 2, 3, Medieval and 4 so don't feel I need another Sims game unless I think I will really enjoy it. I don't have a lot of time to play, so keeping up with these games is a challenge!

I wonder if they would have separate worlds for single player and multiplayer?
Would it be easier if one world was the multiplayer so it’s only if you go live there that people could make changes. That way it’s your choice if you want to go there.
Too much harassment in MMOs. Also worried the single player will be lacking or have to be tied online or Improvements or whatnot attached to microtransactions
The Sims has currently lost its identity. Bring it back for TS5
I am often left wondering how an MMO version of the Sims would work.
In games like World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy, Champions Online (or the defunct City of Heroes) - there's a definite path of progression from a green new player to a veteran who has defeated the major challenges of that game. There's no such equivalent in the Sims.
We (Sims players) make our own schedules, and decide our own paths to success. There's equal fun to be had from making a supermodel who lives in a concrete shed, or a starving family of 5 who live in a mansion that costs $5 less than their starting funds.
I guess the point I am trying to make is that a big part of the attraction and longevity of the Sims is that the ultimate success of your Sims is completely in the individual player's hands. It's not limited by someone else's imagination. An MMO removes that by chanelling the player along a narrower set of waypoints to whatever their arbitrary goal is.
Ultimately I think that persuing a hybrid game design is the way to go. Have a solid offline game such as we have now. Have the ability to take your Sims to multiplayer areas to interact with other people's Sims. I'd be down for that, because if it turned out to be terrible, or threatening, or laggy or disjointed, I could just bail out and send my Sims home. I can appreciate that multiplayer is not everyone's cup of tea.
I'd imagine (in the scenario above) that it would play like going to say, Geek-Con, and instead of having all NPCs wandering about, there would be other players' Sims. That could be kind of fun.
Got this feeling a sims MMORPG would consist of nothing but fetch quests and escort missions.
A dedicated game to just that? No thanks. If there was an option to connect with friends and such then maybe. Pretty sure I'd be responsible for multiple fire related deaths.
All of my favorite things to do in Sims games would be absolutely spoiled by other people.
I couldn't tell my stories, because other people would insert themselves into it and spoil it, I couldn't design the world, and all the sims, and all the locations to fit my preferences, because other people would insert themselves into it and spoil it, and I couldn't get away from the drama and annoyances of the real world...because other people are the reason for all of that and they'd be there too.
So...ummm..yah, no thanks.
I love the gallery in TS4, I love adding things made by other people. But I also love having it be my choice and my choice alone what, where, when and how anything by any other person gets added.
BTW, I play MMO's. In fact, the game which I have the most total hours played across my 20 year history of gaming is an MMO (or more accurately, was an MMO; the servers were shut down).
But the Sims. absolutely, no way, ever.
No. My sims game is my creative outlet. If I was painting a picture, I wouldn't want someone else painting on my canvas. I feel the same way about my games.
I have no desire to interract with real people. If I had, I would be doing something else than sitting alone in my room and playing a computer game. Let loners stay loners in peace.
If they had both versions together then it shouldn't be a problem. They have game options for turn offs. Also, they have it built in that cc can only come in if you manually allow it. It should be that way with this game. It can simply ask when it asks about play new game or save. If you choose new game then it can ask you if you prefer private save game or online multiplayer.
I would like both, but I don't think my play style would be the same in the two games.
Nope. Not at all. But I WOULD play a co-op game with people I know.

If they had a system like animal crossing where you could have friends visit your main neighbourhood or like a social "hub" with special events that could be fun. Otherwise no
honestly I look into and consider any even remotely appealing MMORPG that I can afford since I love the genre and have had fun with other MMORPG games before, but ultimately it would depend on a lot of what the game looked like, featured, etc as well as pricing (I can't, nor would I even if I could, do monthly pay to play a la WoW for example, but I am cool with a one time purchase). I'd be curious at the very least and hopeful for a fun one, I think there's potential though I personally doubt the sims franchise will ever go full MMORPG

I want to add though (and can't edit?) I would NOT want an MMORPG Sims as like, an official next gen sims game like TS5, I would want it as a spin-off to the franchise. I would prefer all main Sims game including TS5 remain single player with a gallery for sharing things like sims and builds like what we have now in TS4
I play the Sims the way I want, that includes mods and cc and even cheats sometimes. I doubt very much those types of items would be allowed in an MMO type game. There are already plenty of MMOs out that I do play, I don't want my favorite single player game to become one.
