I Never Knew I Was Doing It Wrong :O

In watching my Sim make scrambled eggs and bacon in the game, it occurred to me that in Real Life I was doing it wrong. Of course, we're supposed to dump all of the ingredients into a large bowl, mix it up and pour everything into a single frying pan. D'oh, I could have had a V-8.

So, what has your Sim taught you how to do, recently?

Make your garden grow year round by shoving the planters up against the wall (where the roof overhang covers them).

Woohoo. I didn't realize it started out like a Superbowl party but that knowledge changed my life. Go Team!

That actually has some real life application. I have had things survive the winter against the southern foundation when others of the same species didn't make it through the winter. So, surprisingly accurate, sims team! 🎱

I'll be honest, I actually do sometimes just dice a pack of bacon... or buy a pack of already diced pancetta... and throw it right into the bowl of eggs with some diced veggies, and fry it all up together, because it really is easier. But I am as lazy as some of our dear sims. :D

(Now, when I actually have free time, nothing beats oven baked bacon brushed with a little bit of maple syrup.)

Same. I mean, unlike the sims, your plants won't actually grow and bloom, but it will definitely keep some things alive. I have some potted berries and fruit trees in large containers, and I do just drag them up against the house in late fall. They get enough cold and dark to go dormant, but enough heat radiates off the foundation to keep the roots alive.

I've learned from my Sims that I've been eating meals wrong my whole life. I've been sitting at the kitchen table. You've just got to stand up and walk around with your plate and hug people who talk to you while you're eating. Thank you Sims.

Don't forget to sometimes take your plate and sit on the toilet while eating too. What goes in must come out, so it really saves a lot of time.

@Stormkeep ewww :joy: My Sims are not allowed to do that. They are only allowed to get as far as the living room with their dinner plate to watch tv, any other way they are walking, like outside, to the bathroom, to a bedroom, and they get autonomy off and forced back to the table. :joy: Don't know how people play with autonomy fully on ...

other than the grilled cheese a while back, nothing.

The way i do scrambled eggs, is break the eggs open and dump the contents in a bowl, with a fork or whisk, just beat the hell out of the eggs in the bowl and season it. warm a pan and put some butter in the bottom to melt, then put the egg mix in and just stir constantly on a moderate-low temperature making sure the content don't stick the pan quickly. i don't cook the eggs soft and almost as if they could be runny, i prefer them properly cooked and scrambled by a spoon through mixing. Obviously cook your bacon how you like and put the cooked rashers on the side.

The game hints to tomato being added to the mix, but there is no need for that. I also tend to add some buttered toast cut into triangles and put on a rack. for the amount of eggs cooked and served on a plate in TS4 though, you probably need about 20 large eggs..

I learned when recipes aren't working like I had hoped, take my pancake turner and beat the daylights out of the skillet. And don't forget that one last whack for good measure.

Actually that's exactly how I make my scrambled eggs. I whip the eggs in a bowl first, add some milk and stir again, then add shredded cheese, diced tomatoes, crumbled bacon or sausage or diced ham and green onions or whatever I'm in the mood for, season it with a little garlic powder, seasoning salt and pepper, add a smidge real butter to my skillet and dump it in and cook it.

    Sounds like a frittata. Yum!
I tend to fry my ingredients first, to get a bit of colour and flavour on them, then dump them into the egg mixture, then return to the pan. Sort of like a spanish omelette I guess, but with different vegies instead of just potato.

I must admit there's quite a few head-scratchers when the Sims are preparing something. Bacon and eggs being quite a good example.

The way I grew up, you had your scrambled eggs with the bacon, fully cooked, next to them on the plate. What is being described is more like a Breakfast Skillet. :)

I didn't realize that you could just slow dance with everyone randomly in random places without knowing any of the people at all or it leading into complicated relationships and stuff. such revelation.
I shall head to the village and start serial slow dancing everyone that surely will not lead to any awkwardness

Don't forget, when you make garden salad, pick at your earwax for that extra something.

Oh, that has always grossed me out! LOL Worse when they sneeze into whatever they are making. :open_mouth:

I have never had my sims sneeze when they're making food. I've had plenty of sims add the important earwax ingredient to their salad. Also, don't forget when cooking make sure to throw the bowl in the air because somehow none of the ingredients will fall out

I am particularly fond of the rolling the bowl over the shoulders stunt when making a cake. And I really love it when they twirl the salt and pepper (or whatever is in those two objects) before placing them back into their pockets. Wild West, much? LOL

ETA: As far as the sneezing goes, I'm afraid you're missing out. The interactions are just too hilarious!

I realised I was washing my dishes in the wrong sink. I now know to wash them in the bathroom sink even if the kitchen is right behind the bathroom.

Yes, once upon a time, I thought they 'fixed' this issue, yet it happens all the more in my game now than even before. :open_mouth: In my RL house I have a two sinks in the master bath. Which one to choose? LOL
