I'm disappointed that there were no new traits, careers, aspirations, skills or likes/dislikes mentioned. This would have been a good pack to bring back nectar making & to add food/drink preferences.

I'm still holding out a tiny amount of hope that the livestream just didn't get around to mentioning some of those aspects, even if it's just one new trait and/or aspiration.

Side note, I really thought for a minute there that they might announce nectar-making for this pack, because... did anyone else catch this?... one of the lots is named "The Old Nectary" or something like that (it flashed by quickly). This may be wishful thinking, but what that says to me is that if nectar-making is not in this pack, then it's a pretty broad hint that we will get it eventually.

Weren't the lots created by gamechangers? Maybe that's just the name they chose for their lot and it isn't a hint at all. I know when I place lots from the gallery, whatever the creator names it, is what the lot is called in my world unless I change it.

    yes they were,

I could be wrong, but I always thought that even when the gamechangers created the lots, the names were picked by the official Sims team. I mean, look at Cottage Living, where two of the gamechanger lots in the downtown area were on the same street. Obviously the street name, which was part of the lot name, was picked by EA and not just randomly coincidentally chosen by both gamechangers.

Even if the gamechangers did choose them, I feel like if a gamechanger decided to call a house something like "The Nectary," and the devs saw that and knew that nectar-making wasn't coming anytime foreseeable, their reaction would have been, "whoa whoa whoa, you know the forums will take this as a hint, you're going to get us in trouble!"

Well, that tea set was really something!
Recycled animations from the coffee machine or lemonade stuff, that's definitely not how you serve or drink tea... Hehe 😅

The dance was really cute and the word is beautiful, I also love the flower pal thing, (well, at least theoretically) but apart from that we got nothing else interesting?

Cc creators and modders have already brought slow dance to the game, beautiful wedding packs, and functional tea sets, that the team doesn't even bother to add original animation to, so I don't understand why these are the only things we got, it feels like a copy paste of modder's work a little.

    Just a couple of ideas:

I wish you could place and serve tea on the Japanese tables with the proper animations, for example.
For a tea ceremony, I would hope to see sims actually sit around a proper table, maybe being able to serve biscuits, and hold the little tea cups lovingly.
I wonder if you gain new sentiments from being Sim of Honour, or Flower Pal. 🤔
I wish there was some kind of relationship between Love day traditions, such as gift flowers, it would be nice to be able to order or buy Love Day bouquets to send to a Sim with a card maybe?
I wonder how the guest's reactions would be at the wedding, (if simply all sims reacts the same way-, or if it depends on their relationships and traits); if they have a bad relationship with the groom /bride, or if they have a secret relationship with one of them, could they interrupt the wedding? Would they make a scene? I doubt so but it would be interesting.
I wonder if a sim could influence to left their partner at the altar, or if you could insinuate they would make a nice couple and help the romance grow a bit!
I wonder if sims can get nervous getting closer to the big day, if they can have doubts about saying ' yes', if they can feel embarrassed over the first dance if they don't have enough skills, etc.
No new traits, really? Like, sweet tooth? Cold-hearted? Love guru? Charming? Seductive? Hopeless Romantic? Faithful? etc. No new aspirations under the romance category? 🤔 Mmmm...

Finally, my sims don't have to depend on the teamaker machine to have a "spot of tea". They can now have "tea time". ;)

Watching the wedding was hilarious but also reminded me why I would grow to hate throwing a wedding event for every sim I wanted to get married. To the courthouse they go! (But a drive-thru chapel would have been nicer.)

I am sad and disappointed by the livestream. It seems like it's another buggy pack with little new animations and more rehashes. At least the world is pretty. I might not end up buying it, but I have to watch reviews first.

The thing that seemed most off to me was the way that the bride walked down the aisle. They didn't show her being given away, which is a big deal, IMO. Second, she carried the bouquet so awkwardly by holding it out in front of her with one hand. Was she carrying a bouquet or an Olympic torch?

I held out a lot of hope for the livestream. This was the first pack in a long time that I really wanted to love. Romance, courting, love, and marriage are right up my alley and the pack has failed to tick any of those boxes. When the guru thinks that a kiss is not "too bad" for a kid to witness, I feel certain that this pack has about as much romance as TS4 will ever get. The kiss at the altar confirmed it -- there was not an ounce of feeling in it, just a quick peck with a sparkling heart effect that I would immediately seek to mod out.

What's going on with EA/Maxis? This pack is so sub-par that I wonder if the team has been greatly affected by Covid. If that's the case, EA/Maxis needs to support their folks and hold off on the pack until better times. Seriously. I pray that everyone is alright.

So... I was super excited about the pack until the live stream today... Um. Wow. So, I hope we see better content from the Sims community that will change my mind. Like others have mentioned, I'm pretty bummed about the tea set. I'm an OG Sims player. I remember the tea ceremony from Sims 2 and, unless the tea ceremony for the wedding is better, this one isn't cutting it for me. I've been screaming about a functional tea set since Snowy Escape. We got one and, in Sims 4 fashion, the animations are lame.

I'm sad about a lot of what I saw. The sims all standing around eating instead of sitting in the tent where the tables were setup and the issues with the wedding ceremony were disconcerting. The slow dance was cute, but it didn't feel very romantic to me. Some of the new items are nice, but I hate almost all of the clothing they added. I'm worried the bach party is going to be super lame. This would've been a perfect time for them to bring back the dancers who pop out of giant cakes in Sims 1 lol. I guess that's too adult for this version of the game though.

I never really participate in negativity threads but….my goodness.
That livestream wedding was the absolute worst wedding I’ve ever attended. 🤦🏻
All I took away from that stream are these words:

“But it worked for me yesterday…”

    God help us.

I fail to understand why they don’t just pre-record gameplay sessions to ensure these features are showcased properly within the allocated time. So much for spontaneity. Just demonstrate CAS, BB and the world during the Live stream and focus on doing at least that part right.
I mean, they go WEDDING dress shopping for the bride and don’t even cover the veil options? Instead they talk briefly and very vaguely about it. Are there more veils or not?? Don’t they understand what the players want to see?

Glad to hear bouquets can be made using Season’s flower arranging table. That’s a nice touch of cross pack compatibility. But I feel we need more.

I also agree with people’s sentiments regarding the tea set and slow dance animation. Why did they only choose to talk about alternative interactions? Apparently there’s an option to kneel down and drink the tea. Why not demonstrate how that works, instead of showing us the Backyard Stuffpack lemonade style of serving tea? Show us new things! Sheesh.

And that slow dance animation…I doubt we’re getting a chemistry system patched in and the current lack of it showed in that slow dance ordeal. Zero chemistry between sims. Absolute zero chemistry. It’s heart breaking. My first dance at my wedding looks like my first waltz class. With a complete stranger in case you’re wondering.

“Oh hi. Do I know you? Did..did we just get married?”
“Uuhhhh…I think so. You’re Jane right?”
    “No Mary”
    “Ah, I forgot.”
    “No problem.”
“Ok. This dancin’ is makin’ me a tad dizzy. Want sum tea? Slice of Cowplant cake? Why’s that strange little boy staring at me?”
“It’s our ring pal. We forgot to exchange rings.”
    “Oh. Was he expensive?”
“No clue, you’re paying for this.”

The dance provided would be OK if other versions of slow dance are offered as well. But where are they? Where is the full body contact version? Why did that dude sim not have his arms wrapped around his juicy bride? That bride lady should be hanging off yer man’s neck, gazing into his eyes, because I’d like to imagine that the only thing running through her mind in that very moment is wanting to return to the wedding suite with her husband of a beast, ASAP and make that wedding night count! Well that would be my sim story, but no, let’s just 1,2,3 aaand 1,2,3, and swirl a bit, cuppa tea and….swirl out of this wedding altogether. Bye lads.

In all fairness, I think ( I truly hope) there may be more stuff in there than they showed off. For example, will I only be able to find a message in a bottle, or is there an option to send one and find it back across another shore? Again, I doubt it. Why not go all the way though?

Those Maxis rascals know desperate puppies like me would fall for the world alone and buy this pack just to able to draw love hearts in the sand. Grumble. Oh grumble.

I could see the sims feeling that way as they were only made for the stream lol. @CAPTAIN_NXR7
more for sim kids and more drama please

The bouquet thing might be to accommodate heavier built sims. If it was closer to the body it might clip in them. Same thing might apply to the distance while slow dancing.

They said there's a variety of kisses at the altar, it's random. Same with the cake cutting.

I think everyone they knew was invited. They should have met some sims during the prep work to have a better guest list, but they were likely just testing wedding features and forgot that part.

I do not get the activities system in so many ways:
    • What is the incentive for selecting these activities? As far as I understand being selected they still do not influence sim autonomy and you have to micromanage everything in the end. Then what's the point? If I have the idea for the wedding I already keep it in my head and I do not need a reminder on the screen. I can just throw ungoaled event and do whatever I plan for them. Or are they influence autonomy in the end? Are there any specific rewards for completing these customized goals?
    • Are these only for weddings? I would excuse many things in this pack if I knew it expand the whole game with new gameplay system of customizable events. You know what Game Packs should do... At least dates since we are talking about romance. But for now I'm under the impression this system work only for one event though they added 6 or so.
    • Also there's no consequences for not performing these tasks apparently. So again why setting them?

I mean, oh we can customize our wedding party now, but how is this crucial or innovative? We could customize it already to some extent doing anything we want aside party goals.

I'll wait and see if the Game Changers reveal anything else, but so far, MWS looks like a disappointing DHD 2.0. A buggy pack that could have been an SP, but it has been elevated to a GP; here due to the addition of the lovely 9 lot world.

Hearing about how the livestream went with all the bugs, showcasing little and the cas and bb items I’ve seen picture of appearing not great I’m not interested. This could have had so much potential as others have said in this thread and others with attraction systems, online dating etc. A general romance pack would have better then this.

    Nope !

In the mind of Maxis the theme was clear : "All about the wedding day".
Attraction system, dating, honeymoon, ... were off-topic due to the size of a Game Pack.

For the same reason Parenthood isn't Generations.

My guess is that those activities are what makes these events more unique and add gameplay and incentive for the player. If you don't have any of those activities then those events would probably just be like a normal party.

Yeah, I am also very surprised that adding activities like these seem to be only for events related to weddings, it would have been great if we could add more activities and customize our own events.

But if I want my couple to "slow dance" for example I could do it both with selected activity and without. If I'd selected it and not perform there's no penalty so what makes the difference? I guess they were playing with autonomy off and probably activities influence autonomy. Otherwise in both cases it's my own decision to direct sims slow dancing which makes event unique despite any selections.
