So, I was reading details about My Wedding Stories on the EA page.
In the Wedding Reception, you’ll have an opportunity to toss your bouquet, cut the cake with your partner, and even share your first slow dance as a married couple, complete with a rehearsed twirl-and-dip. Then, move over, lovebirds, the rest of the party wants to join you on the dance floor for some line dancing! It’s electric!

I'll have to wait until next week to see if they've added any new dance moves for the line dancing. Has anyone asked about this on Twitter and received a reply? When someone says line dancing, I think of this....
The lady in the plaid shirt puts a smile on my face.

I love the beautiful Tartosa world. Some of the CAS, build mode, new romantic interactions & gameplays.
I kind of wished it had about 11 lots like in Strangerville, however 9 is ok.

I'm loving loving the slow dance options. I actually like that the animation does not look overdone and overly flirty since I don't play too much romance I'd like to use some of these options for non romantic sims too that just has close relationships.

I agree! My sims can actually slow dance with their parents for a parent/child dance, or their platonic friends at weddings now. It opens up so many more options not having the romance forced. Also, there are options to be romantic while slow dancing which is great as well.

I was actually predicting 10 lots exactly but I think 9 is a good size

I’m perfectly satisfied with the number of lots. One or two more wouldn’t have gone amiss, but 9 is a good number to have. Lots of variety. Looking forward to building there.

Love that a new venue type will be available for everyone (never knew what to file a wedding build under before) who doesn't have the pack plus being able to set a fiancé in CAS. Wonder if they'll do it for boyfriend/girlfriend as well? Having a good set of those options to control what sims do collectively is great. Hope a few of those options will be available for the base too for others.

Curious if slow dancing is just tied to the dance floor. Hope not as that would be a bummer. Would like sims to be able to do it through radio and even self interactions. Also hope there's an update to events in being able to set what you want guests to wear or have a colored theme as well. That and being able to set a sims wedding attire is great rather than them changing into something random and a color you don't want. :)

@LadyKyn From the Live Stream, it looked like the slow dance is tied to the dance floor because they had to click the dance floor to do it. It also had some pretty elaborate (i.e. space using) animations, like when he spun her around, so I'm going to guess that it is definitely only tied to the dance floor.
Unless they made a simpler slow dance animation that doesn't have those big-moves for radios too. But I doubt it, seems like that is something they'd have actually mentioned if they did.

    We'll see though.

That is kind of odd considering it's a pack about getting married. Maybe there is one, but they haven't revealed it yet? That's probably wishful thinking on my part.

I'm excited for the new pack. There was a lot of things I liked.
    -The world-yes more beaches!!
    -Family gathering event
    -Holding bouquet down the aisle
    -boutonnieres as accessories
-so many cakes- I know I'm going to run another bakery
-SLOW DANCING- it looked so good. and the interactions through out were too cute. Hope its compatible with GTW dance floor.

I have so many sims prepped and ready for a wedding.

It’s been years since I did a full-on wedding ceremony in the Sims series, so I went to watch some videos on YouTube of Sims 3 weddings to see how Sims 3 did their weddings…

…And some of these Sims 3 weddings I saw were messy or chaotic, too, lol! Some sims were distracted by other things and some didn’t even sit or just stood really close to the couple. 😂

So, years later, Sims team is still struggling to make Sims gather together in an orderly fashion and sit down for weddings, lol. 😄

So I actually feel better now, since now we have more detail we can add to the weddings like flower pals and ring bearers and an aisle mechanic (when it works or sims aren’t distracted), and cake customization and such. Like, I think it’s an ambitious thing, and that past Sims games had the chaotic weddings and guests getting distracted or sometimes standing around as well, so I feel even more excited for the pack and feel so much better. 😄

(I think Sims 2 may have been the game I did more weddings for in the far past, as I had better—in terms of more successful—weddings there. I remembered enjoying those weddings, though they felt more like regular backyard parties with a cake and food, lol.)

So, yeah, I’m so ready for this pack, with the typical Sims chaotic nature and all. 😄

    Edited to add:

Don’t worry, I still love (and hate, it’s complicated) Sims 3. Sims 3 has lots of gameplay and better animations going for it, and Sims 3 still has so much more content in the packs and more world customization, etc, but it seems to me that the Sims 3 weddings are almost as chaotic/messy and the sims are as wild with some of their AI as ever during weddings/parties, even back in Sims 3, lol.

So, like, for me, it looks like Sims 3 is the same in this small aspect (with the sims getting distracted or standing up randomly during the weddings, etc). 😄

Sims 3 still has a lot of other stuff going for it, of course. 🙂

I added my thoughts into the negative thread, so decided to come into the positive one too 😄

I love, love the world. It is so beautiful and I'm really happy they decided to do a Mediterranean style world; perfect for romance.

The slow dancing was so much better than I expected, with the twirling and dipping and having it available for non-romantic dancing. Brilliant! I just hope it's not tied to that specific dance mat.

I like that they added more sand options and a new collection.

The buttonhole thingies for the guys was a surprise and it's good that the bride can carry her bouquet down the aisle - oh, and different sized aisles! And an invisible one!

I'm gonna have some fun turning all my fake wedding venues into proper wedding venues when I get this pack 😁

About the slow dancing, in the trailer the sims dancing with the kids are not dancing on the dancefloor, so that was either a trailer trick or at least part of the new couple dancing can be done without the new dancefloor.

Either way I dont mind, tho it would be great if a sim could just dance with another like in their own home (where you usually dont have a dancefloor), I find dancefloors actually pretty good for venues, so we always know how much space is exactly needed and have all dancing sims gather in the same space, that said an invisible variant of the dancefloors would be very much appreciated.

same and also building new venues, now that we finally get dark wedding arches I can build the perfect wedding venue for my vampires :)

I am really happy that they thought about the occults, not just with darker options but also the cakes, plasma cake, mermaidy cake and alien/sixam cake, oh and the toppers of course.
I have more occults than normal played sims in my world, so I was hoping for that.

First wedding will be a vampire wedding, but there are also mermaids and spellcasters among the family and friends, plus the bride-to-be is of indian descent, so the indian inspired CAS comes in handy as well.
Also gonna have an engagement party and am excited to find out what activities we can have there.

I'm debating on starting a new couple in CAS to give the whole wedding experience a trial run before having my real couple get married. I think it's going to take a few tries before experiencing the perfect wedding and avoiding some of hiccups shown in the Livestream.

I'm planning on just playing the same pre-made that they showcased in the Livestream to get the hang of it all. I'll switch them back to unplayed once I finish. That will give me an opportunity to play with all the wedding features as well as spend some time checking out the new world, without adding yet-another household to my rotation. I'm still new to this whole rotation thing in TS4.

Of course, knowing me I'll end up liking the premade enough that I keep playing them in my rotation. >.<

Yeah, I loved the little callouts to occults in the consideration of the cakes and cake toppers! 🤗

Your occult families sound like fun! I love mixing occults (including spellcasters) in with the normie humans.

Regarding the dance floor, I would like a transparent choice, too, though I wouldn’t mind variant colors as well.

I remembered someone mentioning that the wedding aisle rug had a transparent choice, so maybe the dance floor will have a similar choice.

    Awwww :s

Though I can understand with the fancy, extensive moves, but I'd be pretty happy if there was more of a simple slow dance without a lot of that just so sims could slow dance together anywhere. Only see myself using that dance floor for weddings or some fancy restaurants when sims go out or other places.

If it doesn't, I'm sure some cc creator will create a CC version which does. And if not, I'll do it myself. Making an "invisible" reskin of a game object is about the easiest CC one can create. No artistic skill required!

That just reminded me that I never did anything with the couple I created inspired by the 'Destination Wedding' challenge when Spark'd was still a thing. Emily and Patrick were planning to get married in Vegas, but Tartosa will have to do. And with the BG update that allows for setting their relationship as 'fiance' in CAS this pack provides a good reason to start off playing them by planning a wedding.
If I just posted an outfit you like, I have good news - there is more where that came from!

I also didn't particularly care for the backyard setting. Everything looked too crammed together without enough room for sims to move about. I'm wondering if having the ceremony and reception in different spaces might have made it progress a bit more smoothly. Maybe a two story venue with the ceremony on the first floor and the reception upstairs. Or a larger space for an outdoor wedding with the reception inside.

I would have liked a little more clarity about whether the ceremony and reception are one events, or two separate events that just have some overlapping event activities, and it if it's the latter, how closely together you can schedule them (hopefully on the same day) and whether you can have them at different locations, and whether that in turn affects the timing.

For example, I think during the livestream they had just a wedding event, not a separate reception event, but they included reception-style activities (cutting the cake, first dance, etc.) in the wedding event. But could you also have, say, a beach wedding at noon, with only the ceremony events, and then have a 2 p.m. reception that same day with all of the other activities? Or if you have them at the same location, would one event just sort of flow into the next?

I'm just not clear on how exactly that works.

I agree with you @simgirl1010 There was too much things placed in a too small backyard. Sims like to have space to move around. The table, for example, under the tent. Not enough space around to tempt Sims to sit there.
  • elanorbretonelanorbreton Posts: 14,418 Member
@Amapola76 this is from the Sims Community:
There are six new social events that your Sims can throw related to weddings. Engagement Dinners, Rehearsal Dinners, Bach Parties, Wedding Ceremonies, Wedding Receptions, and Family Gatherings.

So I am guessing you can arrange a Wedding Ceremony on a morning and then after that has finished, arrange a Wedding Reception for the evening. I think you can't book more than one event for a single day (not 100% sure) but the second one may be bookable after the first one has finished.
