Building can be a bit scary at first. It takes some time to learn how to get the best of the game’s building tools so don’t get discouraged if your houses look like giant boxes or the roof is not quite how you were hoping for. Practice makes perfection!

I have found that when it comes to building- the best thing to do is to take the homes that the game has already created and just upgrade it such as changing the wall color, flooring, furniture and etc. Its more simpler and easier that way.

Thanks for the response. I am starting a new playthrough and am currently adding the crucial mods people recommend. Mine are about recommendations for a long game that isn't easily broken. By broken I mean things like the Moodlet Manager or the Motive Mobil. Those seem to break the game (being kinda overpowered), and I was wondering if there are other rewards or purchases to avoid. There are thousands of things you can buy, and I don't wanna accidentally get something that gives you eternal life, makes 10,000s of money easy, etc.

Basically I am trying to balance a game in which I will either have the lifespan be Long or double. One restriction I might have is not befriending someone for the sole purpose of getting their stuff/money/house, etc. I did that last time, convinced rich Sims to move in, then took their cars, sold them, kicked them out. BUT, that leaves me with the question of how to get a house someone is already moved into. Or, is there another way to get the Alien's galaxa ship besides Move In? Maybe I can possess them somehow using some power or potion, and get it that way.

So if anyone wants to throw tips at me go ahead lol

@YamiJustin2 Welcome to the forum. 🙂 You might want to check out this thread for mods that some simmers consider essential.

Hi! I'm happy to see it's pretty busy on here. Sims 3 is my favorite, and I have a lot of free time.

I am almost done figuring out the mods I'd like. I am going for a legacy-like game, will probably have the lifespan either be Long or Long duration doubled (if I did Epic it would take too long to see anyone have kids). I was wondering if anyone tried this before:

    - Since having all expansions and a lot of store content over the years, it's almost overwhelming with the amount of stuff thrown at you. Mascot shows up, time portal appears, the full moon is rising and whatnot.
    - I am wondering if this would be an interesting playthrough:
    1. Only have the base game installed, along with any store content or updates that came out before the next expansion.
    2. For each in-game year that goes by, I install the next expansion, as well as any updates/content before the second expansion
    3. This repeats until all expansions have been loaded. I believe that would require 10-11 in-game Long duration Sim years.
    - I assume this would somewhat make the game a wee bit harder since you are reduced to way less options, not having access to some pretty op lifetime rewards, alchemy, or build/buy stuff.

Or I'm crazy and that won't work lol

    @FroggeWogge,

Hello and welcome to the forums... :)

In order to be able to posts pictures and have an avatar, you first need to become a full member because as of right now you are considered a new member. New members are restricted from starting new threads, posting pictures and links, having an avatar or changing one, sending private messages to other members. In order to become a full member, you will need to have 25 points, 15 posts and an account older than 24 hours.
    https://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/978073/new-members-guide-welcome-to-the-forums

For any New members who want to get their post/point count up, the best thing that I would advise you to do is to find threads that may interest you and join in on them or go to the Off Topic section and join in on some of the word/story games over there. The posts made over in the forum section will go towards your post count whereas the posts made on your wall and the Activity Feed doesn't go towards the total post count. The only thing that you will get if you should make any post over on your wall or Activity Feed will be any Insightfuls, Likes or Awesomes as they will go towards your total points count. Hopefully creating your posts on other threads will also increase your points... :)

A link with a list of badges that gives out points.

And this link is a tutorial on how to use the site.. :)

A link for a thread for New Members to introduce themselves to the community.
    http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/817478/hello-come-and-introduce-yourself/p1

I would suggest for all new members to go and read the rules of the site before posting... :)
A link to Forums Etiquette, Warning/Banning Process and the Forum Rules... :)
    http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/categories/forum-rules

And I would also suggest reading the thread about necroposting as well as there is a rule about it in the rules section. I would also suggest checking the title of thread as well as the location of the thread since we have older Sims games sharing this forum. An example would be if you're a TS4 player and have an issue with the game, please check to make sure that they thread that you have brought up isn't a TS2/TS3. I have provided links at the bottom of this post for "New Members" to be able to posts their issues in.
    https://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/983366/lets-talk-about-necroposting-🧟

And for anyone who may have any issues with TS3, here's the link for New Members to post their TS3 issues in.

    https://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/976212/thread-for-new-members-to-post-their-sims-3-game-issues-2020-version#latest

The EA team has moved The Sims 4 Help Center section to the Answers HQ Forums now. The Sims 4 Help Center section on this forum is now "Read Only". So you will need to click on this link if you have any issues that you want to report to EA and hopefully get the help that you need... :)
    https://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/ct-p/the-sims-4-en

And for name changes, you can request them on @EA_Cade. @EA_Lanna will still be on the forums to help out when she can... :)

I really recommend trying the sims 3 and 2! I know the sims 4 is the most popular right now, but the old games are great and have much more content to discover in my opinion
