But there's the next Inside Maxis sheduled for Tuesday, 26th of October.

I thought they might have choosen to not offer an EP before X-Mas so that people might put some Kits or Packs they don't own yet on their wish lists. Another possible reason is that we're sitting in for a big game update like freed babies.

On my Birthday no less, well go to know it's on a Tuesday this year, I guess I can check it out.

I'm not a huge fan of Kits, I didn't grab any of them so far. I am basically happy with my game, and I'm not so glad when EA force me to add lots of stuff (500 skin colors, 1400 window recolors, or what it was?) - details I never missed and would prefer adding as optional content. I'm now "looking forward to" added stuff to several old packs or even the general game lore - stuff I'm not focusing on at all after 7 years of developing my own game universe. I'd rather wish EA directed their resources towards new (optional) stuff in GPs and EPs. I can choose to not install patches with the old stuff, but suddenly they will release a pack that I want, meaning I will be forced the flood of (to me) useless adjustments to old stuff. It's a problem that EA sold me a base game to work with my old computer, then later they add to the base game until it will no longer run on my computer, even if I had not bought any packs. It just doesn't feel right to me and I wish I could have a tad more control on what to add to my own game.

That said, I'm pretty sure we will get more big DLC in the future. IIRC they have confirmed they are working on horses, and that they are separating babies from cribs, and there might be a few more features they said they were looking into long ago, too. So, I'm pretty sure we will get more good and desired stuff, so I'm hanging on.

I'm personally hoping for a French world, although I'm not focusing a lot on romantic stuff, it could include nectar making and I've visited France in RL so many times that I would surely enjoy a related location in my game. It would also be the perfect location to expand my nobility a little, perhaps I'd finally include Royals to my mix. I also want Hotels, although I already have a few hotels in my game and I won't mind pretending they work satisfyingly. I play rotationally so I don't really think I could benefit fully from EA hotels anyway, but the concept might include some nifty features to be used elsewhere (cabaret stage, casino/billiard, multiple community lot tags per lot, served reception desks). I'm not enough into occults to wish for more of them in my game, but if zombies or werewolves come with the French world, I'll find a way to embrace them (a werewolf pet for Judith Ward?).

I'm disappointed if we don't get another major pack this year, because I know I won't grab a kit with 12 outfits. But I'm clinging to the hope that they did not really confirm that there will be NO new EP/GP this year. Awaiting any hints during the Inside stream next week :)

If they continue these rephreshes, especially for the older releases and focus on more bug fixes, I'm okay with no EP. It would have been nice to have a Game Pack though, those are becoming my favorite.

I bet these updates are not cars, not updated babies. It's probably something superficial again. Another layer of paint over a broken foundation.

These kits are just super profitable for them. They can sell them like hot cakes, throw them out like crazy and get more $$$ with less effort.

And @SimGuruFrost saying that Kits do not have any impact on other pack releases seems to be simply not the truth.

Since they started with the kits, normal SP's stopped, and now we aren't even getting a EP in November/December.

    It's obvious enough.

And refreshes are nice and all, but there is still a void when it comes to decent family gameplay (Generations) in the game.
Refreshes can wait until they finish up the essentials imo.

Personally I'm okay with anything they decide to do. As long as ts4 keeps going that is 😃
Refreshes are nice. Updated basegame stuff is great for people who wanted them to slow down and work on the current content.
I'm always up for new packs! Which I'm sure haven't stopped all together. Just slowed down or work on other things and/or because of the pandemic situation.

As much as there are so many things I still can't wait to see in ts4 I'm pretty happy playing with all the current content too. So I can wait patiently 😌

I do kind of wish simmers hadn't push them to worry about (what I think are) silly things like lore and premade sims skintones. But that's just me. I know others might want it so I'm okay with that too.

And I believe them. I don't think kits has effected production of other things. Does it really take a whole team to make a CAS kit? I doubt it. Which means a lot of the team are still working on other things. Like the animators can't be just sitting home looking at the wall😅
The kits just keep the community engaged and give us extra optional content too. They don't have any reason to lie about it. They would just not comment on it at all.
Zombies, oh please oh please give us zombies!! :'(

I believe them also. I think this slow down has been planned and in the works for a while to allow for base game updates. We got Dream Home Decorator in June and Cottage Living EP in July and the Spa Day Refresh in September. And because of the planned slowdown in packs we have kits to provide some new content.

That first tweet is a JOKE. Where is the GAMEPLAY in them, besides that awful chore one? I'm tired of swatches and build/buy. Where is the gameplay? Why have they stopped caring about the occult players?

Unless any of these "refreshes" have content for us, I have no reason to believe in them anymore.

I'm OK with no Expansion Pack as long as the Base Game Updates are worth it.
I'm talking about better babies, cars, whim overhaul, personality overhaul, etc. Those are all good updates and will change the way I play the game. Those are worth the wait.

However, if it's just some shallow cosmetic update (500 new swatches of trash cans), then I'll be very disappointed.

Sorry, why do you talk about "Gameplay" ?

Do you remember TS2/TS3 Stuff Packs ($20) ? There was no gameplay.

TS2/TS3 : new gameplay in EP only.
TS4 : new gameplay in Game updates, EP, GP, SP and rarely kit.

I don't mind not having a new pack IF there are some seriously good base game updates, pack refreshes or kits which add much requested gameplay to the game e.g. an attraction system or freed babies. But I worry that any updates or refreshes won't really add all that much and any kits will follow the current trend of not offering any gameplay.

Sims 411 and Laundry List seem to be the highest priority right now.

So no EP in time for the holiday shopping season. Lol k. Well that just tells me that tomorrow's stream isnt really going to talk about anything interesting, so that'll be an easy skip.

Anyway there's like 5 games coming out next month that Im paying attention to, so that's just $40 Im putting toward those. They could honestly do whatever with the base game updates since who doesnt like free things? And I still dont want any kits. Especially since Im getting the sneaking suspicion that they're just going to spam us with nothing but Kits for awhile.

They said before that they don't announce paid DLC during Inside Maxis 411 podcasts. They may still announce a pack later next month.

Which make me think Sims 5 is knocking on the door, I don't think they will release a new Sims 4 pack as well as Sims 5. That would split their customers to much, they want their customers starving for something new otherwise they are just not making any money

Agreed. It will be a cold day in hell before I buy TS5. Especially if it's heavily multiplayer-focused. But even if it's not, I bought (and bought into) TS4 with the expectation and understanding that I would ultimately see certain features. I'm too far in to TS4 to quit now, but I have learned my lesson. I'm not giving TS5 the benefit of the doubt; it will have to be out at least five years before I'm ready to give it a try, and that's only if it looks like they're doing a good job at that point. There are too many other places I can put my time and money.

Well you guys don't represent every simmers. I'm sure a lot of people are ready to move on to a fresh new base game. Even the one who love TS4.

Can you elaborate on what features you were hoping for that you haven't seen as of yet? I'm more than happy to pass feedback up the chain.

But of course! I have no interest in delaying a TS5 release, it's fine with me that many simmers want to start all over. I did that myself in the past - several times. If TS5 is quite different from TS4 in more ways than better graphics, a fresh start might be totally worth it - just not to me. I've been on the wagons of TS1, TS2, TS3 and TS4, each time building a rather advanced community in my own game. This time I have no plans of letting all that behind, not the least because I still enjoy my current game very much.

That would be epic, especially if it it happens while wedding music band was playing.

Updated babies, Cars, whims overhaul, more substantial traits, more family gameplay, more occults, more world editing features, attraction system, more challenging gameplay features.

Exactly, and an emotions system overhaul. But @EA_Cade I'm sure you and your team are pretty much aware of that since a long time.
