I love playing the sims 3, i love every aspect of it, and today i want you to show me what some of the proudest Community lots you've ever created are (Feel free to post exchange links if you upload your creations). Here's my list, I'll update it (either as a new post or by editing this one) if i make any new ones i really like.
PATTY'S LUCKY PAWN
For the longest time my Bridgeport lacked a proper Consignment Store that was both unique and felt right at home in the city. I made several attempts, but wasn't successful until i created the Lucky Pawn. It was designed specifically to fit in with Bridgeport's aesthetics and has a color palette that compliments the nearby Waylon's Haunt. Making it fit in even more. You'll find all sorts of odds and ends inside. This place took me around 3 days to build and decorate. The ceiling at the exterior part of the entrance is white in the pictures, but I've painted it to the same color as the concrete before uploading it to the exchange, don't worry about it looking out of place =P.

Patty’s Lucky Pawn looks awesome! Definitely has that metropolitan raw aspect and fits nicely with Bridgeport's aesthetics. Thank you for sharing your build and creating this thread!

Alright, after two days of work, I've finally managed to create another community lot. This time a Gas Station designed to fit in with the architecture and overall Aesthetic of Starlight Shores. A city that i have yet to play in, but hope to in the future.
The building features a comic book register (since gas stations sometimes sell comic books, making it the most fitting register to add), so you could easily it as a nerd shop.
"Del Enno: The place for all your gas related needs. Oh, and we sell snacks too, so like, you're welcome!"

(Pss, i used Moveobjects on to place two of the palms into Showtime planters in order to mimic those already around the town. the planter on its own already obstructs your sims' movement by default, so the tiny palm being in the middle shouldn't at all affect your gameplay.)

But ... I build all my Community Lots as an investment for my Sims.
To get the most money out of your Business, requires upgrading the lot to meet certain criteria.
It takes a monetary investment I can achieve adding high-end equipment and electronics.
Fully upgraded, the JavaHut/Internet Café will bring in tens of thousands of Simoleons a week.
I built it yesterday evening, and my Sim is still upgrading all the computers and bathroom fixtures.
The place is already doing business, and of course the the immigrant barista has a job.
I'll add more artwork when my Sim has time to travel and take some good pictures, or advances in Painting skill.

I tend to like to use the community lots when game time allows.
I play in Hidden Springs most often, and the Café is built for the original Liar's Disco lot.
The proximity of that lot to the Diner and the Grocery Store provide it with some 'push traffic'.
Plus ... No offense to EA design, but I personally hated the Disco ...

I will build a Bowling Alley/Arcade next ... For the lot next to the Business Tower.
Look forward to seeing any lots you have on any world though.

It's set to "Junkyard with Visitors" by default, but if you want, you can also make it a "Rebel Hangout". It certainly seems like the kind of place that rebels would hang out at. I know I would.
