@empyreantyrant - Assuming you have MasterController and the MC Cheats module in play, I suggest following the procedure I linked to anyway. If the doll had never animated, then there just won't be an underlying sim to flush out. If you continue to have problems though, or the instructions are not clear enough, perhaps you could bring the issue to us at NRaas?
alright! so im sort of at a stage now where im deciding between two similarly priced computers. i do know that pcs are ‘better’ but i dont want to upgrade or any of that stuff and it'd be nice to move around too.

I have a very annoying problem going on in my sims 3 game. I've been looking for 2 days for a solution. I've did every solution I could find and nothing. My game looks soooo dark. Like, sometimes I can't even see! Please, someone help. I've checked if compatibility mode is on (it's not), I've got the game to recognize my graphics card (Found:1 Matched:1). I've updated all my drivers using the app Driver Easy, I've re-installed the game, I've did windowed mode, and more! Nothing works! Please someone help. @igazor you asked if I’m on a laptop? Yes, it’s a Microsoft go, and it runs well other than the darkness! I don’t use battery, I use a charger. And I’m not sure what you mean by power saving.
@igazor you asked if I’m on a laptop? Yes, it’s a Microsoft go, and it runs well other than the darkness! I don’t use battery, I use a charger. And I’m not sure what you mean by power saving.
Forgive my initial confusion, but have we met someplace else? This is your first post on this forum, so I don't think I could have asked questions about your hardware prior...
Under Windows (Start Menu) Settings > System > Power and Sleep > Additional Power Settings (you can also get here by way of the system Control Panel > Power Options if you prefer, it takes you to the same place) you should see choices of power usage plans for your laptop ranging from Power Saving to High Performance. The game is typically going to prefer the High Performance ones. But there might also be risks in pushing this device further than it was designed to go.
The Microsoft Go is an economical range of tablet/laptop hybrids. I'm not sure they have produced a model that is really capable of running TS3 properly, this isn't what this line of hardware would really have been meant for. But maybe I am missing something. Can we get some specs on this device, or maybe an exact product number that can lead us to them? What might also help is the first 40 lines or so of the DeviceConfig.log that TS3 generates in your TS3 user game folder in Documents copy and pasted into a response here. Not the very long lists of game options that follow, I mean the parts at the beginning that come before all of those.
If you cannot find your system specs to type them out, the DeviceConfig copy/paste as described will show us much of what we need to see or possibly the exact name and model number of your device might lead us to them.
@Faye3 - I am afraid that your system is way underpowered for TS3, pretty much across the board as I initially suspected. Its processor is not strong/fast enough, it has only 4 GB of RAM total with at least half of that being used by the operating system itself, and it has a weak integrated graphics chip rather than a dedicated card, which will put even more stress on the processor and RAM for things to run. Formal recognition of the 615 chip is not likely to affect things at all, in either direction.
If it were only the processor, I would say that perhaps we could coax better gameplay and less of a darkened screen out of the base game alone or at least with none of the later released heavy hitting EPs. But with all three strikes on it, I'm afraid that taking any major steps to make the game run in a way that feels playable are most likely going to overwork the device and shorten its lifespan than provide something that is fun to play.
Might there hopefully be a stronger system, laptop or desktop and not a tablet hybrid, available or planned for in the future on which you could play graphics intensive games? TS3 has some pretty strong demands, by 2009 standards. By 2021 standards not so much as it is after all an older game now, but it isn't very forgiving if the basics it needs to function properly aren't provided for.
I've recently gotten into The Sims 3 again, I've been playing around with the Goth Family from Sunset Valley, but then when I switch to any family, sometimes I end up with them having a whole bunch of animals or one of the family members become a supernatural, Is there any mods or game settings to fix it?
@CasperTheElf - NRaas StoryProgression does not allow inactive sims to turn into occults randomly, only if there is a very good reason for them become occults (e.g., they were born that way by way of genetics or turn through in-game or optionally added SP Personality events). NRaas SP also provides the tools that many of use to "protect" our inactives from various forms of progression, which does include pet (and human) adoption while we are playing elsewhere and it shuts down the often stuck and broken Neighborhood Pet Adoption Centers before they form as there are many other ways to get pets into the game. http://www.nraas.net/community/Story-Progression-Rotational-Caste-Settings
It's a pretty heavy mod though, so you may want to read more about it at NRaas before proceeding. As usual, NRaas Overwatch, ErrorTrap, Register, Traffic, and MasterController for its Reset Everything command run from City Hall's Town Menu occasionally are always recommended to help preserve game performance.
My teenage Sim had a wish to fish before 6AM so I sent her to the river behind the house at 6AM, but the river is technically off property, so the police picked her up and she got grounded. Then when she tried to go to school, the action kept self-cancelling, then she got grounded again for skipping school. She started sneaking everywhere in the house, and even after I had the dad Let Her Off the Hook, she's still sneaking everywhere. All the google search results about this have people saying to move her out of the house and back in, but I'm a stickler for maintaining the familial relationships and they say doing that breaks the family up. Is there any less invasive known fix to the sneaky-walk Sim?
@empyreantyrant - Try issuing a MasterController Reset Sim on her. There are several other things we can try if this is not successful, and if family relations break we can also use MC to fix those, but this is the least intrusive and the first thing that came to mind.
We are TS3 players. I can't speak for the rest of the forum, but over here we always do our best to look good, keep our hygiene levels up, and have minty fresh breath at all times.
hi there! I've posted on a few different forums and I'm in desperate need. I recently got a new laptop with windows 10 (metabox). I had bought sims 3 on origin on a previous laptop, so I just downloaded origin again on this one and downloaded all my sims games. But for the life of me, I cannot get it to launch. I have geforce which I tried launching from, tried launching from origin, tried it from the game bin in my files. Nothing. My net framework is enabled, my graphics drivers are all up to date, and still nothing. Every time I try and launch it literally nothing happens. When I try launch it from origin, it just minimises and comes back up. I honestly don't know what's causing this. On the EA forums I posted my dxdiag, which I can post here if it's needed. Thank you so much!
I hope I am not intruding as I am not a new member, but my son doesn't have an acct. on here, so I am typing this for him, as he is having issues with the game and this thread seems active and like I will get a response.
Anyhow, he recently reinstalled origin and also on his desktop. He just reinstalled sims 3 base game, but he did download the expansions, the first time when he ran into the issue, so he uninstalled the sims 3 game and just reinstalled the base game, but still having the issue.
He tries to click on the play button and then it goes to desk top and then back to the play screen click play button again, and same thing. His laptop is 5 years old, but before he went through Origin the game would work. He can't even bring the launcher up.
He has tried everything I could find online about this issue, but nothing works.
Thank you for any suggestions that might be able to help him. He is at his wits end.
The Sims 3 ran fine for years on an i7-7700 with an GeForce 1050 then 1650 upgrade on Windows 10. I finally had to buy a new computer and got a Ryzen 5 5600G with an AMD Radeon RX 5500 on Windows 10. Now the cursor flicker between being active (blue) and not (gray) and shadows are horrid combined with shining textures. The CPU is about equal but the GPU is a small step up.
I have tried repair in Origin. I have tried no mods, with mods, no mods including no store content, compatibility mode for Windows 7 and 8.
I usually only go Intel so I don't know a lot about AMD. Is there something extra besides just the video drivers I need to do for Sims 3? Note, Sims 4 runs spectacularly.
