New game becomes unplayable after a few hour (CL)

Twice now my game becomes nearly unplayable after aprox 5 hours of gameplay. I started new saves both times, I've cleared my cashe and restarted. Now I can't fast forward, my sims won't do anything I tell them to, just stands there. Anyone else experienced this after CL?

I don’t have this issue but could it possibly be this problem?

It’s basically adding an insane amount of blank households to the game causing the game to become highly unplayable.

Other question just to check. Have you repaired? Sometimes it helps in issues like this.

Hope you get it figured out :)

Thank you so much, I will go and check if my game is creating blank households. That would have explained why it would get so laggy after a few hours

Yep, my game is also unplayable. We're talking load times to rival TS1 with all EPs. Trying to visit Isle of Volpe Park almost invariably crashes my game.

Deleting culled Sims via MCCC gets rid of the thousands of empty households, but they come back when you restart the game.

Are you using any mods which affects townie generation? Like MCCC, No Random, townieoverhaul or NPCC?

Gosh, I played all day yesterday and haven't run into such an issue. Check your Sims' inventories, too, as well as what what suggested above. I clear out my localthumbcache.package every single time before I start playing. It's also important to do that if you add or remove any mods, too. Best of luck. If all else fails, click on the Sim in question that's seemingly stuck and debut object. Or, save and exit the game, delete the LEs if you have any and that localthumbcache.package and restart your game.

    Good luck and Happy Simming!

wow this sounds like a terrible bug if you have a look at the answersHq page. i hope you can fix it soon, though may well need an EA fix.

I'm not using any mods atm, and I have cleared out my cache the last 5 times I went back in. I have not been able to check and see if it is blank households being created yet. Will log in as soon as I can to see

Have you tried playing in offline mode? My game is a bit slow and playing offline really helps with performance for me.

@kiwi84 hope you get it sorted.

It would help if we could set the townie spawning in options.
    A box with ‘delete duplicates’.
The game is more aware of special NPCs so there’s only one.
Also which surnames are already in use.

I haven’t got Cottage Living yet nor updated the latest patch (I’ll do that when I get Cottage Living).

Yet from the June patch there’s an increase in unplayed households.
I get different Sims with the same surnames. I usually put them together.
I’ve also noticed more larger families appearing.
I check more regularly now due to the increase.
Now alternating between Sims 2,3 and 4! 😊☕️🌞
