CoL and C&D cross-pack interactivity. Is there any?

KyreRoenKyreRoen Posts: 677 Member
Beyond just "thought bubbles" and game-changer hearsay, has anyone definitively seen anything concrete?
I'm not contemplating buying the pack, but from what I've read, this doesn't seem to have a definitive answer, so I wanted to collect anecdotal evidence for any still wondering.

Personal anecdotes thus far:
-Pets get scared of CoL animals - MaggieMarley/catloverplayer
-Pets can eat chicken feed, which can be trained out of them - Kita5399/RavenSpit
-Dogs and foxes growl at one another - DaWaterRat/RavenSpit
-Cats follow chickens - DaWaterRat
-Chickens socialise with pets - DaWaterRat/catloverplayer/simfriend1968
-Dogs can scare away wild foxes - PurpleM00n/catloverplayer/RavenSpit

    Yes

Dine Out Many of the new recipes are available for Restuarents especially the new desserts.

Seasons It can snow in the winter and the leaves change to autumn color in Fall. I think gardens are also effected by different seasons. The ponds will freeze over.

Cats and Dogs Cats and dogs have minimal interaction with farm animals. Dogs can scare away foxes. Cats can be scared of farm animals or hiss at them.

    And you've seen this, then?
My main focus is CoL and C&D, but the rest is good information.

If you are wondering if the animals interact with each other, I'm wondering if they interact at all, even without COL.
My sim household has two small dogs that are now elders and I have never seen them acknowledge each other. Each acts like the other doesn't exist.

I can clear that one up--they do. I've had a playthrough with one dog and 6 cats...they do...dear lord they do.
From playing together, to fighting, to being affectionate, and just generally noticing one another. Not sure why you haven't seen anything from yours.

The wild foxes in CoL are designated as dogs, right?

No they are different than the ones from C&D’s, they are listed as wild foxes.
To answer the OP, I’ve also seen the cats eat & scratch at the chicken feed (sometimes they leave upgrade parts).

Saw my dog and a wild fox bark/growl at each other for a bit. Actual face-to-face interaction. The fox was not, however, scared off by the dog. I think the cat does more to frighten them off, but that's based on thought bubbles and my interpretation.

The cat will also stalk chickens, and get squawked at. She never hurts them... but I think she gets the feathers from them.

Thank you for sharing. Seems a rarity (or else trait-influenced), but I'll add it to the op, as it's anecdotal (and gives more credence to what the game-changers have said).

It may depend on the dogs traits.

I only have a cat but so far the only interaction I have seen is that he gets scared of the chickens and rabbits.

Possibly, I have Active, Hunter, and Smart on the dog. The cat has Prowler, Aloof, and Free spirit (the cat is also my sim's familiar)

I have only played one household with chickens but I noticed that I had no problems with foxes. I was playing Cecilia and immediately gave her a big collie named Prunella since I thought she would rather have a dog than a spouse. Not related, but I did end up giving her a roommate that she married who lives the farming life with her, the dog and a cat. Do what you like but it is a fun household with a nice little farm going and a toddler.

Anyway, with the collie around foxes never enter the chicken yard. The dog regularly gets dirty and needs bathed which is realistic. While I was playing in the winter, I noticed that bunnies started to be drawn to the plants so I added a cat. I'll have to check back sometime but yes, it seems like the pets protect the animals and crops. I like that. The dog barks at the chickens.
    Champ and Girlie are dogs.

The dog on my sims farm seems to be scared by the chickens and cows, he sorta cowers and tucks his tale arround them with a thoughtbubble showing the cow/chicken, I have also seen him bark at foxes (and maybe? scarying one of them away).
He is a friendly dog, so I wonder if the cowering would still happen if he had different traits.
He also ate chicken feed and my sim was able to "teach not to eat garbage" cause of that.

@ChampandGirlie there is no need to scare away the bunnies, they wont eat your crops/plants, they will actually help you out with gardening by eating the weeds if you befriend them and ask them too.

My Sim's dog, Friendly and Loyal, won't stay out of my chicken pen (neither will the toddler) and they both need frequent baths as a result. He also barks a lot at the chickens and they seem to squawk back. They all have thought bubbles of each other, and even take turns barking and squawking at each other, after which the chickens go from happy to very happy. I think they raise each other's social bar. The little chicks sometimes have the fear thought bubble over their heads at the sight of the dog, but the chickens on the whole don't seem to mind him and even perhaps welcome him or at least are used to him, in that they get more happy when he's around.

He doesn't seem to notice the foxes though. I agree with others that it may be his traits. He's generally friendly and well-trained; I need to try having an aggressive dog.

@Kita5399 I think the cats eating chicken food is a bug. SimGuruRitzy is asking for videos: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/Cat-eats-chicken-food/m-p/10545186#M192536

I'm torn on whether or not to put that, as it seems pets can be afraid of just about anything, but I'll add it anyway. Thank you for reporting.

Try removing the dog, see if foxes get in, then put the dog back. This is something that could entirely be coincidental, so I'd rather not put it up until it can be confirmed.

Like with MaggieMarley's report, I'll put up the fright caused by the CoL animals. I'll add you to dogs interacting with foxes, and change the "cats eat chicken feed" to "pets can eat chicken feed". Thank you.

that is interesting tho, cause I have a cat in a different household that is not acting scared arround the rabbits (or the llama) at all instead he gets a "prowler" thoughtbubble (he has the prowler trait).
while the dog is scared of the new animals...

this really seems like the pets reactions depend on their traits.
What traits does your cat have?

Perhaps mine don't interact because they have such different personalities? I would love to see them play together.

The farm animals don't build relationships with each other (as they're technically objects), but chickens especially interact with anything and everybody. They run up to cows, sims, cats, dogs bunnies, whatever, and squawk with varying reactions & thought bubbles.

I played with a domesticated fox and I think there is a bug regarding them, my chickens were constantly scared of the fox. I didn't notice the same with regular breed dogs. My cats play/eat the chicken feed, and generally laze around near the chicken coop. Have not seen them stalk the chickens though.
Where are the pet bunnies, Sims 4 ?! :'(
