How Many Plan on Buying Paralives vs TS5?

I guess I'm just more optimistic, but I don't see anything concerning about a game being in pre-alpha for 3 years when it started with one developer who I'm pretty sure was working on it on top of having another job. Now he has the support of patrons that he can devote his working day to the development, and he has a team with him. I suppose if you're thinking that 12 people can make a game the size of The Sims in the same amount of time despite having a fraction of the team or the funding, then you might be disappointed or worried. Not taking jabs at anyone's opposing perspective, just saying that I'm not counting them out yet.

Yes, I plan on getting Paralives as soon as it's released (possible 2021)
I am definitely going to get paralives and the other game by paradox tectonic.
As for sims 5 I have my expectations veryyyy low. If they still choose to go for an MMO then not getting it. However if they make the online aspect optional then maybe...
I still have a soft spot for the sims after every disappointment. Sure I havent bought any sims 4 packs in almost 2 yrs but if they put better work into the sims 5 I may consider it. For now ill stick to sims 2 and 3.

I am pretty sure that I will get TS5 but it really depends on a number of things. If it's a multiplayer 'second life' style game then I won't get it. But if it's single player (or mostly single player) then I probably will get it. I don't mind there being a multiplayer mode so long as there is still a single player mode.

As for Paralives... I probably won't get it just based off what I have seen so far and if do get it I can't see myself playing it much. But I'll see what it's like nearer release.

I don't know, I love Maxis, but I don't want a TS5 MMO and might have to jump ship and go with Steam's game.
I'm also a Civilization player. I've been playing more Sims lately because more recently I am more interested in following various individuals around on the micro level, but with several hundred sims, I kind of run it like I am a city manager. I really like playing Civilization in an open-ended way as well. Some kind of mashup would obviously be interesting.

I'm usually a nicer civilization manager, more interested in expanding my cities through well-being and growth. I have been known to conquer other cities though and to run trading empires. I was also expansionary most of the time. It's one of those games I'll play again at times.

As it is, I'll probably have a bit less time for gaming. My thoughts at this time are that I'm going to play with what I have for as long as I am happy with it especially if there is an incompatible switch to a new version. If it's mainly a newer repeat of the same formula for younger people then I won't be in any rush. Either way, I'll probably let it be out for a while before I decide and I'll keep playing with what I have. If they quit servicing bugs in TS4, I won't be that happy.

I said this before but Paralives is something I'll evaluate separately whenever it is finished.

@ChampandGirlie i prefer simcity Civ as well since it allows me to focus on tech and high production tall cities but if you nplay on higher difficulty or vs other players you simply cannot avoid war ;) good players simply aren't gonna allow you to sim city and become a threat to them, especially if you have OP civs like Korea, Maya, Inca or Babylon ( i mainly play civ 5 and in that game these civs are OP as heck) and thus are very likely to speed away in tech if left unchecked, and ai's will always dogp[ile you once they get the opportunity, especially if you have warmongers like Monty, Attila or Shaka near you.

edit: and if you roll Arabia or Mongolia...expect to be rushed by your neighbors if you play multiplayer XD people are TERRIFIED!! of Keshiks and Camel Archers

@MaggieMarley you really shouldn't be fine with multiplayer included when EA is involved, even if they add single player. it just means Maxis will be instructed by EA to mostly put effort in the monetized aspects of the multiplayer which means the single player will be even more lackluster than vanilla Sims 4. i have seen this happen with many other titles under EA's greedy banner. just look at FIFA for example: same old game because EA puts most effort into their lootbox bonanza Ultimate casino err team! heck we even get the very same bugs and glitches in career mode every year XD

and i simply do not buy any defense for EA! those greedy 🐸🐸🐸🐸 promote child gambling to line their pockets!

@DammanNefarius that's what I'm worried about too... That even if there is a single player mode, it will be worse than it should be because more effort will have gone into the multiplayer mode. I should have specified that I'll be happy if there is a single player mode which is fully fleshed out and/or the primary mode, in addition to the multiplayer mode.

    I plan to buy both.
my favourite thing about paralives it that they're challenging ea!! ea has been able to get away with not listening to their community for years and I think once paralives comes out, they're gonna have to start listening to feedback or their sales will decrease rapidly. hopefully paralives lives up to the very high expectations they have at the moment.

No, I'm going to stay with Maxis and wait to buy TS5 or whatever their new AAA game will be
At first I thought I was going to as I was interested in the fact that Paralives seem to have everything already in the game. (Unlike the Sims where you have to buy the expansion packs and add over time.)
The reason I decided against it though is because it took me up until last year to finally cave and buy the Sims 4 back when I was made furloughed for 3 months and the base game was £7.99.

I've since bought a couple of expansion packs and the smaller ones and am still having fun and discovering what they all have to offer. So no, I don't really see the need to be buying Paralives and playing on a new game when I still have stuff in the Sims 4 to explore and play with.

Well, that's understandable but some haven't bought a new live simulator since TS3 especially if they enjoy open world more than TS4's system has to offer and some have been with TS4 for the entire time waiting on things that will never happen so yeah, it just depends on what people expect in this type of franchise.

Paralives looks great! I wouldn't preorder it, but when it comes out if it's as good as the previews look, I'll buy it. EA treats it's customers like dirt and it's about time they got some competition. Maybe(if they care) a bit of competition will make TheSims5 a better game.

i was expecting you to mean happy IF it's fully fleshed out and the main focus but like i said: don't expect a fully fleshed out single player game if it has a monetizable multiplayer whenever EA is involved because that will just not happen because it's EA, and they only care about monetizing their games into oblivion

don't count on this. EA will just double down on scummy monetization and leech even more money from fans who will stick to the sims. EA only cares about filling Andrew Wilson's pockets even more (yeah like that dirtbag needs even more money!) and pleasing investors. they are arrogant and don't think a small indie developer can touch them.

i truly hope paralives will plummet EA's bottom line though indeed. i honestly hate EA executives and the insatiable greed

Teeny, tiny update. (Without spilling beans). All I can say is people will indeed enjoy all the custom content they will be able to do themselves for the game. It's amazing what is planned about all that and what is in progress. But that's all I can say. For anyone who enjoyed creating objects More than just hair and clothes...lol.. for the games all these past 20 years in The Sims, they are going to love how they can do this for Paralives. This may be a custom content creator's dream game in many respects of building things for the game's Parafolks. The one thing we know for sure is there is tremendous support for modders in Paralives, if it all pans out.

It maybe that after I've built up more of the Sims expansion packs and played them for a while, I might be willing to explore other games such as Paralives. There's aspects of it that interest me such as the fact that the majority of the stuff such as seasons, etc, seem to already come in the game. Whereas it costs a lot of money to be able to eventually get all of that in the Sims. (I tend to buy them when they're on sale.) But think I'll just wait and see. :)

Wait, TS5 might be an MMO? That's new to me...
Though to be honest, I'm not one to get games until I see at least 10 hours of gameplay (yes, 10 hours). It's a bit extreme, but especially considering how expensive games are where I'm at, I'd want to know if the game can last me a long time.

Either way, I've always been into The Sims, and Paralives looks real good as well. If all goes well, I'd get both! Just that it'll be a lot of saving to do that haha. It'll definitely also help if I wait enough to find it on sale.

Then again I tend to have an unusual set of what I enjoy in games so I'd have to depend on you all who get the games early to know! Seeing gameplay will be what makes me gat stuff, haha. Who knows, I might also find a third alternative that I'd really love.
So in a nutshell, I'll have to see about that. It's a very anxious wait though, both ideas sound really interesting and what I've seen with Paralives is great. Hope to see some good TS5 stuff soon! But I'm not gonna rush. Most importantly everyone has fun including devs!

that's actually quite clever. i usually wait a while to get games these days since greedy corporations like EA employ scummy tactics these days to avoid bad reviews like sneaking in predatory microtransactions a few weeks after launch, and especially EA releases usually are bugged and barely functional on release and usually need a patch or 2 to even properly work

I'm OUT if they put Sims 5 online. I doubt I will play paralives because honestly, I hate the art style. It feels even more cartoony than sims 4 to me but if they gameplay lives up to the hype, I might give it a try.

oops picked wrong option. should have been other...LOL

I do not get that community what screams about so famous "gameplay" is all over the game what has not yet (YES, not like Paralives were introduced yesterday!!) shown any gameplay..

yes "at very early state" .. years go by and same "at very early state"

Good luck for waiting the next 20 years.

I've totally forgot what I've voted for in march. But at this point I would say I'm going to wait and see, and stay with Sims 4 until I know more from both games. I've seen the paralives build promotion video and it looks nice so far I can tell, but I don't like the the appearance from the game folk, which could be a knock-out criteria for me, like the sims 3 . Also Sims 5 will be are bare-bone again for sure, not very enjoyable for a longtime-player, and who knows, if it would be are real multiplayer. I had absolutely no fun with Sims 3 after Sims 2 and with Sims 4 I've started to play for real when seasons was published, not a moment earlier, except a few tries after the bare-bone vanilla version came out.

I’m dreading an MMO Sims game, but I don’t like the graphics of Paralives (especially the characters), so I’ll have to wait and see if Paralives’ gameplay can really make up for the graphics, or if I just end up not getting either game.

I’m mildly interested in Paralives. I have to see gameplay and various feature first to decide whether I like it enough to buy. So far the building aspect looks nice but we haven’t seen anything as far as gameplay.

As for TS5, my trust and hope in EA is non existent at this point. I plan to observe the game for at least a couple of years, and if the next iteration turns out to be several steps above TS4 (highly doubtful) then I’ll buy.

The latest news is they are working on character creation builds etc. I could have sworn they had already done a lot of that a few years ago or last year. Without giving anything away of the details yes, a lot of us want to see some improvements about all that...however, it seems we never get any news about gameplay, path finding, routing etc. Which was in their time line months ago. :(

I think I can report a producer left and well there is that.

o i don't dread an online sims MMO but i dread it whenever EA is involved because of EA's sick love for microtransactions and outright unethical greed and their sick drive to turn every game iunder their umbrella into a shameless mobile cashgrab with f2p mobile economies putting everything behind paywalls.

@taydev don't hold your breath. if they truly go MMO with it you can expect craptons of microtransactions and 80% of the content behind paywalls... it is EA's way of business nowadays >.< pay full price for a lackluster mobile free to play knockoff

Now alternating between Sims 2,3 and 4! 😊☕️🌞
