This picture thread is for simmers who want TS4 to be the best sims game ever, but are very vocal about why they feel it is being held back.
However,
anyone can participate, as long as you show off your moments where you were quite content and happy while simming.
I have been vocal about what I dislike about the game and what I would like to see improved,
but sometimes we come off as really hating the game.
I just want to show proof that there are times when I am really enjoying it and why.
You know those moments.
It's where you sit back and say, "This is why I love The Sims."
Or simply smile.
What this thread is not:
It's not for daily updates.
It's also for the SimGurus who may get frustrated after a project nitpicking and want to scream, "You can't make these People happy!"
Yeah, you can. see?
@SimGuruMrE @SimGuruNinja @SimGuruJill @SimGuruFrost
(Just naming off random gurus, not because I believe they, in particular, need to see this, feel free to leave your own SimGuru bread crumbs.)
I have several posts and here is the first.
Soon after getting Toddlers and Parenthood, I was seriously ready to dive deep into The Sims 4 to get all my families started up until they became teens. I then would then wait for TS4 University.
My first really enjoyable time simming was with The Banks family.
Due to the arrival of Toddlers and Parenthood, all my young adult sims from a prior save were aged back to toddlers and given parents.
Olivia Banks was one of them.
Olivia's mother had a dream to acquire this unusual modern home in Brindleton Bay.
I love Brindleton Bay.
Except for all the sick pets wandering around... STOP IT!
The house was expensive and Olivia would probably be in University before they had the money to acquire it.
Olivia's father had a get-rich-quick scheme to raise the money.
They would loot Selvadorada for treasure.
I enjoyed exploring Selvadorada with them:
They eventually struck golden treasure.
They both had business careers.
But the archeological digs would bring them the money they needed eventually.
I had them celebrate their first big success by dining out in San Myshuno.
Eliza Pancake as waitress cracked me up for some reason.
I really like Dine Out and I particularly enjoyed this night out.
Uhmm... those shoes.
Simmer was negligent.
I had them entertain the staff for great service.
I believe the staff felt they could do without it.
"Somebody kill me now!"
"How do you want it done, Eliza? Santoku knife, or kitchen axe?"
"Use the axe. It'll be quicker."
Comments
When a young Melony wanted to be a bear. The game gave a nofication that she wishes to be a bear and will put on her bear suit. I thought it was a joke...but nope:
I laughed so hard.
I made the mistake of taking the bear outfit away.
I gave it back.
Get Famous had arrived, and unfortunately most of my sims were toddlers, so they had no use for the pack.
I created a new save just to experiment with the pack. I made a few of my favorite sims into teens.
They were sharing an apartment in San Myshuno.
I was going to have them pursue fame in Acting, Comedy, Fashion Styling, and Music.
They were teens so they were busy with School, homework and after-school clubs.
And they also had part time jobs.
They were pretty busy. It was difficult to work in time building skills for their future careers.
I had to use their vacation time near the weekends so they could have time to have fun.
Cosplaying had been a thing in my game since City Living and Get Together.
Get Famous provided me with a huge amount of content to support my cosplaying sims.
I was inspired to build them a new cosplay hangout, the Cybercafe.
I also updated my favorite dance club with VIP content and moved it to Del Sol Valley.
I built a movie set into the cafe so my sims could role-play their cosplay.
I had no idea that my initial inventive game play would be taken this far years later.
The Teen life-stage was holding them back, so I aged then up to young adults and moved them into a starter home in Del Sol Valley.
However, this home was their goal.
And I really enjoyed playing them in this setting.
They eventually befriended Judith Ward. It wasn't easy.
And....
Wow, I am just going to have to finish up with some random shots, because this save was epic.
I have too many pictures. I really enjoyed this. Too bad it was just a test run and not my main save.
Eliza?
VIP status.
Melonie combined her comedy career with comedy writing. She performed book readings in libraries and cafes.
She also had a book club of special readers for her latest books.
And I ended here, in their new Modern Mansion.
There were new packs to play, and the only way to go from here was to start romantic relationships and families.
I had a blast with these sims and I was tempted to start them over again when we got Moschino stuff.
The photography equipment and career was exactly what one of my sims needed. But University arrived, the pack I had been waiting for.
They were fun, but unfortunately they will most likely be going their separate ways, living alone in my main save.
None of them will be going to Del Sol Valley to pursue fame. Meadow Thayer will not pursue acting at all.
I do have a Sim named Kara that will be pursuing acting.
I may have her gather some dormie friends while in Uni and they all move to Del Sol Valley to play out this scenario.
My first family. I have used the same save since the game came out. I've had to do restarts due to bugs, but overall, it has been all of my same families. This group is 4 generations, lots of heartbreak and lessons learned. The two oldies in the middle are my original family that I started with. They're surrounded by their children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. I have moved very slow with this family because they're my favorites. Mom and pop still live in their same home and even though two of their kids are very successful and can afford to move their parents anywhere, mom and dad are pretty humble and happy to stay where they are. The lady in the middle with the cat shirt has a tragic story. There was a fire department update while I wasn't playing and when I started again, I played her family. She had a son and two daughters and was married. Add on the never-ending cooking bug and I'm sure you get where I'm going with this. Her family died tragically in fires started by cooking while I was...occupied looking at the movie I was watching while playing. lol. I ran with it. She still lives in her apartment with all their belongings. There is also one estranged daughter, who is a global superstar, and not pictured here with her family because they simply couldn't make time. But her son loves spending summers with the grandparents, even though they live simple lives, he gets much more attention than he does with his parents.
I love the little things...like when I found out you can teach your kids to knit. Cutest thing ever!
I love this. I could never get it to work in TS3 and I'm so happy to see it working now.
The aesthetics and how I can make my world look gimey if I want
Even though I know most people like more realistic looking sims, I love that I can have cartoony looking sims and make some of my characters resemble animated movie characters, like my Frozen family featuring Jack Frost.
Being able to create clubs is the whole game for me. It's how I ensure that the world is full and lively no matter where I am.
Figuring out how to get toddlers to eat at the table without a high chair
The kids are so darn adorable!
Yes. It's here.

@Mstybl95
This is wonderful and the knitting is really cute.
I have yet to try knitting. I am just getting around to getting my first generation of sims started.
I will look forward to seeing that when my first Born-in-the-game sims arrive.
I would start all over again if my save got corrupted after a few generations.
I am really attached to see sims.
They were probably thinking, I've created a monster simmer.
I have yet to play more than a couple of generations in my entire time with The Sims.
I think I will make that a goal for TS4.
Play 5 generations.
Holy heck...my TS2 save is currently in generation 36. I've had that same save since 2013. My TS3 save is somewhere in the 20's...but I stopped playing because it became very laggy. I've got to clean up some sims and probably remove some ghosts out of the cemetery. But I'm being incredibly lazy. That's actually why I started playing TS4 again.
I knew going in that Strangerville was going to be a linear experience.
So I decided to layer in a story scenario to make things more interesting.
First I needed a setting. A base for my covert operatives.
Next were my main characters, The X-Files' Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
I added support characters.
A tough as nails soldier and a sexy scientist.
Soldier on the left, sexy scientist on the right.
And the final ingredient...
A mysterious couple, new to Strangerville.
Aliens.
And with that, I was on my way to Happy-simming land.
[Warning] Photo bombardment ahead:
Do you really think that a black suit is going to solve all of Strangerville's problems?
Nope! But it looks plumb good on Scully.
[ OH SNAP! ]
I really enjoyed my sims in Strangerville.
But, as strange as it sounds, I never finished the adventure.
This was a test save, to get to know the pack before I put my main sims through it.
This household would be an excellent addition to the sims living in Strangerville. I have a photographer sim in my main save that I plan to have vacation in Strangerville, so she can take photos of the desert landscape and flora. She will solve the mystery of Strangerville along with Mulder and Scully.
It's going to be a reboot.
When I was about to replay my Rising Starletts, giving Monique a Photography career, I hit upon the idea of her visiting Strangerville.
It's going to be her adventure, and she will meet Mulder and Scully, who will help her.
The Writer
This is Vaughn Noble.
He is a single guy residing in San Myshuno. He loves writing and travel.
It's his dream to set up his laptop in exotic places and write to his heart's content.
While partying in Del Sol Valley, he noticed a cute paparazzo: Izumi Sakamoto.
They hung out and had fun together.
She became a romantic interest.
He has to endure noisy neighbors when he is trying to sleep or get some late night writing done.
Fortunately his low cost living has allowed him to buy land In Sulani, using The Get To Work feature of buying retail property.
If this was a true expansion, it would be Vacation Property and I wouldn't have to use this work around.
He slowly built up his property between visits to this comfy little vacation home.
Now he can write in peace and reap the benefits of a lot trait that helps his writing.
Living in San Myshuno makes visiting Sulani all the more special.
Unfortunately he doesn't get the full benefit of Sulani neighbors because the pack does not recognize this lot as a home,
but that is okay, he is a foreigner after all.
Of course not all my sims can go making this investment when they only want to sample Sulani for a weekend here or there, so I added this beach/camping grounds lot. (Outdoor Retreat) Sorry Fetu, but the whole world is going to enjoy this Sulani expansion pack..
After achieving his initial goals, he began seeing more of Izumi.
That was until he met Kalamainu'u Iona.
From henceforth will be referred to as Kala, because her full name is a mouthful.
Falling for Kala:
Now that Vaughn had had several big paying gigs and income from several novels, he started taking more time to enjoy Sulani.
He headed up a group of Sulani natives focused on keeping Sulani pristine. Kala was invited of course.
So the Friends of Sulani set off to clean the place up:
They worked past sunset.
There is something strange about that girl, isn't there?
Vaughn asked her if she was a mermaid.
She denied it, which only made her more interesting.
The group disbanded now that their job was done.
But Vaughn and Kala continued to hang out.
He (we) was (were) falling for her.
His week in Sulani was ending and he would go back to San Myshuno to focus more on writing gigs.
He gave Kala a key, mainly so she would be available to speed up their friendship.
Kala took him up on his offer and came to see him in San Myshuo.
And this is when the guilt began to set in.
I would eventually have to decide between Izumi and Kala, and I didn't think it would be Izumi.
I also gave Kala a key hoping to see this moment.
However, I only believe she did this because they had already become best friends and she had admitted to being a mermaid. She probably would have simply left back for Sulani if she hadn't admitted it first.
Upon arriving back to Sulani and inviting Kala, she headed to the water first thing.
And she revealed to everyone that she was a mermaid.
Yeah, Kala is the one.
She moved in and I now had access to those mermaid powers.
And that's when I noticed that Izumi was here.
The Guilt Trip:
Oh no.
Look at her face.
Aww man, she's leaving and doing the sad walk.
I thought I had better officially end it while she was here.
Vaughn called her back.
But it took her too long and the social was dropped.
Vaughn, being in a flirty mood, grabs her.
Noooooo...
What are you doing? That's making things worse.
She's all happy now, you idiot!
All that's going to happen now is we are going to stick the knife back in and twist it when you tell her you want to be friends.
[Knife reinserted]
[Twist]
Awwm man...
I felt so bad.
Sure go ahead,
share with her that you discovered this mermaid. That's awesome isn't it?
No it's not!
Especially when you are dumping her for the mermaid.
That's it!
Go home.
I'll probably get the sad face whenever we run into Izume.
Jungle adventures
Sulani is nice and relaxing, but it's missing some adventurous elements. That cave rabbit hole just doesn't do it for me.
A shark attack would be cool, but I haven't done much snorkeling and scuba.
So Vaughn and his mermaid companion are off to Selvadorada. (Jungle Adventures)
This particular Sulani doesn't mind a little adventure. You would think her world would have some hidden secrets to explore.
And this place is no paradise.
They are prepared for insects, spiders, and other surprises, but eventually those items run out.
It's great to have a mermaid around to remove that uncomfortable moodlet.
I wish she could do more in moodlet management.
I have to say I was really worried about Kala' and dehydration.
They didn't have any waterfall in a bottle and they were pushing on to find a place they could camp near water.
It was a relief when they found it.
She was in the red.
This was one of those special sim moments.
They eventually had to return to the rental house to resupply.
Waterfall in a bottle--great stuff!
They finally made it to the big treasure.
And since their vacation home is actually a retail store, they can sell those artifacts for more profit.
"Wow, you braved Selvadorada to get these items. I'll gladly pay you double. It's better than going up against a jungle cat."
Vaughn has big plans. He wants to build a very nice home in one of the other worlds for Kala, and also a nice vacation home with room for the children they will have. They will eventually retire and live in Sulani.
So I'm not sure if it's just random game weirdness, or if it has something to do with playing Grim as an actual Sim in the game, or mods I use to make him fully playable, but every so often random Sims and pets will just wander into the house and awkwardly die. Which occasionally leads to unintentionally funny moments like this (note, random Sim didn't actually die this time, they just invited themselves in so they could hover behind Grim for a bit and then leave).
"S'up, my dude, you here for the random home delivery service that I don't actually offer?"
"Me? Nah, just thought I'd wander in and stand behind you for a bit. Lemme just randomly wander out again, kay?"
Female Simmer from Australia (she/her)
I had one of my Sims marry the Grim Reaper & now they have a lot of kids.
Vaughn is still a child in my game, so no stalking for Meadow.
I did really enjoy matching up with that made-over mermaid in another save. I may play that again.
It's as if they are coming in to see if their time has come.
Grim: "No, not yet. I will let you know when it is time."

I would love to see more of those fourth wall moments.
I remember loading up my game and finding my sims standing in this position.
"Uhm... Vannessa..."
"Yeah?"
"A little too close, ya think?"
"Nah, we're close friends."
"Heh."
The look on her face seemed like she had really enjoyed that encounter.
