Tell me: What do these maps exactly diffuse, normal, specular (textures)

So yeah i want to know what those mapps do im currently trying to make some glass items but it just appears to be blue,

Ive only changed the diffuse map to a blue color with an 90% transparent which is in the studio looking like glass but in game its just solid blue.
So im wondering if i have to change those others maps?
Therefor ill like to know what they actually do so i know if i have to do something with them or not.

I have searched the internet and found some explainations but i cant fully place it in sims therms. Dont get me wrong I speak(not write) verry well english but sometimes its easier to understand things if there are in my own language (NL)

Diffuse = has the color information
Normal = it is used to create fake relief on a surface
Specular = defines shininess and highlight

There are some tutorials about how to make objects transparent, have you been following those?

    https://sims4studio.com/thread/1037/make-object-transparency-add-alpha

This is a long thread but there are many cases and issues addressed in it, maybe you will find something that suits you?

Basically, your glass item should have the PhongAlpha shader and your alpha channel on your diffuse should be black, for full transparency, grey for partial transparency. The darker your texture's alpha channel, the more transparent your object will be.

This tutorial is helpful, as well: https://sims4studio.com/thread/1157/objects-glass-balloon-effect?page=1
Guess what? I am actually LolaBelleSims; previously, SimPeopleRampage. I changed the name in honor of my daughter who passed away in 2014. We called her Lolabelle & it's her fault I'm addicted to the Sims, anyway, the booger. You can find my junk at Lolabellesims.tumblr.com and at The Sims Resource.
