The Sims 4 Cottage Living Expansion Pack

sims2freak737sims2freak737 Posts: 2,543 Member
Just watched the new trailer for The Sims 4 Cottage Living Expansion Pack that comes out July 22nd and I'm curious as to what everyone thinks! I think the trailer looked great but so did the trailer for Dream Home Decorator.

I loved seeing the Llamas wearing clothes haha I'm also thrown off by the rainbow cow... Charles the Evil Chicken makes a return as well!

I also have to address the elephant in the room... It's interesting that we just got the Country Kitchen Kit that fits perfectly into this Expansion... Kits seem to be the new "My First Pet Stuff" on a smaller scale. I think we need to call this stuff out when we see it. Kits were supposedly created to fit very specific and narrowed concepts. I refuse to believe they created that Kit not knowing they were making a Cottage Living Expansion.

EDIT: I'm not quite sure how to link the video directly into the post...

I think it will be a nice expansion. It certainly looks like it has plenty to do gameplay wise with all the animals.

I hope so too. I think the animals look great though! I'm actually excited that there are actual llamas in the game now since they've been a huge part of The Sims franchise. I'm also happy about the return of Miss Crumplebottom!

It's not entirely what I wanted in a farming themed pack, but I'm NOT disappointed!

Also, did anyone notice the PONDS being built on the lot in the trailer!? We're getting natural water terraforming!

    Positive: Llamas
Negative: More Gardening (like we don't already have enough gardening.)

Meh. I was never big on anything farming or country related, so my hype is pretty low. The CAS looks okay, but not really wowing me so far. The Build/buy looks good, so I can get some use there. Im not in a hurry to buy this pack, so I'll wait for a sale.

Just based on the teaser, this EP seems like a really niche (ie a hate it or love it) pack.

For those who ARE into the whole rustic/cottagecore thing, this EP is really leaning into it hard. Like there are way more types of animals than I expected.

For those who are NOT into the whole rustic/cottagecore thing, we will probably have to see the gameplay trailer to see if there is going to be any more general gameplay-related things that may draw people in (like Snowy Escape with Lifestyles and Sentiments).

Also, when the camera panned out near the end, there's this almost otherworldly, mountainous bit of the landscape. Possible hint for new occult type?

I think it looks good. I'm wondering if we will see people wonder why we don't got any horses...

I'm not so sure about the buy by september 2nd and you will get three additional items. It's kinda like a pre-order but not really because it's available for a month after release. It doesn't mix well with them releasing their packs with bugs where we have to wait months for them to be fixed, I still have trouble with my plants reverting to dirt piles.

Personally, I was hoping for more occults and not farming. THAT SAID, I love the look of the pack, and the bunnies and chicks are so cute that i can't resist. I'm definitely more excited about this pack than I was!

Not enticed by the items they're offering if you purchase before September 2nd? I actually miss the Limited Editions of The Sims 3 packs they used to do for preordering where you'd get a venue or some exclusive items. I'm not entirely convinced The Sims 4 will get me with it though just based off their history.

I like all the new animals. I wonder where milk or wool fit in gameplay wise. Also maybe an unpopular opinion but I'm happy to see the “preorder” (not really preorder, but time limited) incentives back.

This. I'm not into the cottage core aesthetic so the world is a bit meh to me. Looking forward to seeing more gameplay though.

I think this is their way of saying "hey, get these items now and suffer with the bugs or never get them at all" which I guess people will have to decide if it's worth it or not. I was always excited for preorder bonuses or items in Limited Editions with The Sims 3 but in The Sims 4 it feels more like an attempt to make sales before people really discover the bugs and potential disappointment with the pack.

Oooh, Miss Crumplebottom is back! I do like that they're listening to fans and including some fun characters from older versions of the game, like Bonehilda too. This feels a little meh for a full expansion pack, but I'm sure it will surprise me once the whole pack is released :)

I feel like this pack was made for me! Love the animals and the Peter Rabbit feel. This style is going to help with my little county spellcasters greatly! I can't wait!

I am sad. I wanted horses, my favorite animal!!! I can't believe they gave every animal but horses.

I think the animals look fantastic. The bunnies appear to be the most independent though. They didn't really show the llama's, cows or chickens really wandering around so I'm going to assume for now they all act as objects.

When I saw the title I thought it seemed a little too focused for an Expansion as well. Not that's it's terribly limited but it does feel like this would have been more of a Game pack concept.

They should be able to patch the game in august so I think the offer is okay. You can wait one month to give them time to fix serious bugs with the new pack if there are any.

I just wish there are carabaos or water buffalo... I am not in a hurry of buying these and I don't mind if I don't get the limited-time bonus contents because I still have to enjoy the previous expansion and game packs. I might buy this Cottage Living pack in 2030!

Something that I have learned from watching gamechangers review Dream Home Decorator and playing the pack myself is that it's pretty difficult to know beforehand how much fun you will have with a pack by just looking at it and listening to others. I ended up having more fun with that game pack than what I thought.

My biggest concern is how the cows and llamas are going to work. Those little stone buildings/stables with the blacked out doorway clearly aren't actual buildings so my guess is the animals are tied to them. This in and of itself isn't a a problem it's just that they have a very specific aesthetic. My bigger worry is that in all the clips it appears that there are two of those buildings placed whenever the sims are interacting with two animals, I really hope it isn't a one animal per building type of a deal so that if you want five cows you have to place down five separate stables?!

Ok so with the amount of (especially large) animals we're getting, I think it's safe to assume that we'll be getting horses as an eventual GP.

I really only have one question for this pack: are foxes included? Because we got foxes with C&D, but there was a fox in the trailer? So I'm kinda confused about that... Are we getting foxes twice??

But idk... the pack looks...... Interesting. I like the idea of the gardening contest that's cute, but it looks like it'll only happen in that one world? Also I'm happy to see chicken coops. And llamas are a nice addition! Cows :')... It looks like we'll be seeing an entire overhaul of the gardening system which is very nice!! So I'm looking forward to seeing more about that.

I also wonder if we might get another hidden lot? It's been so long since we've gotten one... But I do miss them. The team said they stopped spending resources on them because no one would visit them, but that's just because there was hardly anything to do there! Idk it feels like there might be a bit of a significance with the bunnies though...

But as always I am not holding my breath. I'm hoping it's good! I always want the packs to be good! But I've been burned quite a few times now the past few years with this game... So I'll wait to see the livestream to make my final decision. It looks good! But I've learned to not get my hopes up.

This bit gives the trailer a bitter taste in my mouth. I usually have to wait for a sale and now I get punished for that? I hate time limited content. This is urging people to buy things sooner than they may have planned. I really like the look of that bike but is it worth paying 20€ extra by not waiting for a sale?
