Since I'm still very much a BNS newbie, I'm remodeling EA's Nookstone house from Oasis Springs!

Question--Can you start from scratch or must you use the first build as a starting point?

    Thanks!

Sorry, no. That would miss the essense of thee challenge. You can radically change it, but it still needs to be recognizable as the original build in some way.

Sorry to be a pain but I want to do this one: https://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/comment/13214021/#Comment_13214021

But it was so long ago that photobucket no longer has my photos and I lost everything. Is there still a way to do this or should I just pick more recent ones?

You can redownload the lot if it's not in your game anymore and make a new slideshow before you redo the build. Hopefully you have time to finish it all.

CHALLENGE #150 - Before and After

    FORUM ID: KitelDesigns
    ORIGIN ID: Kiteldesigns
    LEVEL: Established

SIMS 4 LOT NAME: Hindquarter Hideaway
    NEW LOT LINK:
    LOT COST: $3,000
    GALLERY COST: $56,139
    TOTAL COST: $59,139

    Link to NEW ENTRY- https://imgur.com/a/ZoWAuvt

Original ENTRY DETAILS: Original Challenge 121- Out of the Box. A smartly engineered home. I designed this as if the first 30G was donated money, and the other 30G was from items donated by the community. The solar panels donated by the Energy company. The garden plot put together by the local gardening club. Counters and fridge donate by a restaurant supply company. Books and toys donate by town members, etc.

This home has the solar panels to reduce electric bill costs, Rain Tank to help with the Garden plot and to lower water costs. Fire places to reduce heating costs. Garden plot to supplement food stores. Although there still needs to be some homey touches needed, it is a lovely home for the group of 7

The Main living area is on the 2nd floor, to take advantage of the natural light from the many Windows. Kids can do their homework at the dining table, or at the computer desk. A toy box for the kids to play as well. Mom can watch from the living room, or while cooking. The bedrooms are on the first floor.

REVAMPED ENTRY DETAILS- This home has been revamped utilizing eco-lifestyle and dream home decorator to revitalize this build. This home is still eco and budget concious- a Solar roof allows for the home to produce its own power, the new rain collectors capture for water use. The garden has been expanded to allow for further growing options. The inside layout has been updated, to improve a bonus living space downstairs, and a modernized upstairs living space. Enjoy the new home!!!

    Original Judging Comments
Original Judging comments- This build is attractive & homey, thoughtfully & creatively addresses the needs of the family nicely, is quite interesting, & exudes personality. I enjoyed it very much! Love the backstory & details you gave! What an awesome idea to have half of the budget be items ‘donated’ by the community!
The solar panels, rain tank for the garden, fire place, and garden will help them immensely to keep on budget in the future! Your decorative touches are homey and nice to make the family able to express their personalities. These items also go well with the décor. Good job of managing two tricky building elements – an ‘A-Frame’ home and the curved decking. Nice use of landscaping plants and terrain paint.
Great labeling of the screenshots, and including the various types of screenshots that allow the build to be explored properly for judging!

Suggestions: The garden plot is wonderful… Unless these items are there and not visible in the screenshots, providing either seeds, fruits/veggies, or plants for the family to plant would be a fun touch. Clustering the room areas’ photos together in your slideshow will help for judging.
Tip: you can frame and choose the frame color on photos once you have a sim on the lot, before playing it, and then save to the library.

Important: Please use the whole of hashtag #BnS121 when you upload your creations in the future, per the challenge rules. Thank you!

ENTRY DETAILS: Since moving out last year, Guy Orange has further developed his own style in clothing and décor. He enjoys an eco-industrial mix at home and a more artistic taste in clothing. Since becoming more independent, he has also stopped being gloomy and much more outgoing. His parents have also chilled out considerably since Guy has left. The peace and quiet have done wonders for their moods, no longer being hotheaded or consumed with work (to gain wealth). Both their styles have also relaxed as the peace and quiet at home have increased.

ENTRY DETAILS: Inspired by the new Courtyard Oasis kit, I renovated the Nookstone starter house in Oasis Springs, turning it into a Moroccan style home. To keep the house somewhat recognizable, I left the exterior shape of the house the same and the interior layout almost the same, with just the kitchen and living room flipped, the bathroom enlarged and split into two smaller rooms, and a single wall piece removed from the bedroom entryway. I also moved the house forward on the lot so that I could replace the empty front yard with a large patio in the back. I looked at a lot of reference pictures while doing the renovation and I hope I did justice to the Moroccan style. I designed the house to be colorful and open, with lots of big windows and archways to let in light and air. I created a couple (Amira and AJ Yassine) who live in the newly renovated house. They love cooking together in the red kitchen and spend almost as much time outside on the patio as they do indoors.

ENTRY DETAILS: I chose to renovate BnS #108. It is a container development made for Settlement for Simanity. There are three units. Each unit is developed for a particular family, taking into consideration their needs and likes. I designed this before we had the Eco Living pack and thought it would be a perfect one to redo now that we have sea-can items. This project was also before we had access to the debug menu and so I have taken full advantage of that and given the property a very large landscape improvement as well. I have drastically improved the interior of each unit and painted the sea-cans to a brighter color. I have moved the playground to the back of the property, adding a garden feature in its place. This gives the property a pleasing curb appeal and is a little bit safer for the children playing. I also made sure to add the community garden that I missed on the first go around.

    JUDGES COMMENTS & SUGGESTIONS
    Judges Comments
Overseas Rescue is a very creative solution. The placement of your buildings on the lot is very sensible, with the play area in the center. Each unit is well laid out and looks as though game play would flow well. I like that each unit has a bookcase and each has a different skill building item. The awnings are for shade on the front patios. You certainly put a lot of thought into your build.

    Judges Suggestions
The gate for the play area doesn’t make sense to me, because you used a fencing that Sims will just step over. Don’t forget mailboxes. The brief did ask for a communal garden and I did not see one in your build.

ENTRY DETAILS: Remake of my lot 'Remembrance of Granada', inspired by The Generalife gardens in The Alhambra (Granada, Spain) but with the limit of a budget of $12,000. That was my entry for #BnS97 "A garden for Daisy".
It´s a Generic lot type where your sims can go to hang out, relax, read a book or play chess. Of course, they can also paint or play an instrument if they have them in their inventory and take to there.
I´d have liked to have more budget to give stuff enough for a Park lot but I only got to add a chess table and books to read.
I have learned much since my first version but I still don´t know to make miracles :joy:

This has always been my least favorite entry for the BNS challenges (it was also my first: BNS 140). Since Mr.Downey is selling we decided to change quite a bit. We updated the landscaping around the house and added more to blend in with the surrounding area. The roofing always bothered me on the original so I replaced it all and added new unique skylights to let in a little extra light and to add some texture to a plain roof. The entire color scheme has been lightened so the house doesn't feel as dark as before. The interior got a new layout and brighter colors as well. More details in the slideshow.
