Help with Sims 2 on Windows 10

sassygray5sassygray5 Posts: 545 Member
Hi all! I just got a new gaming laptop and am trying to run the Sims 2 on Windows 10. I can open the game in windowed mode but not full screen. I get the "failed to find directx" error. I have already tried following the instructions here: https://simlili.tumblr.com/post/146373494212 I have also tried the Graphics Rule Maker and no luck there either.

I believe my latest EP is FreeTime- that is the CD I have to use to start the game. I made the edits to Graphic Rules and Video Cards in the Free Time folder under Program Files.

Any help or suggestions on other things to try is appreciated!

Did you match the texture memory to the texture memory that is displayed under the graphic card? (if you have intel you just open the program and it tells you.

@Sunflower227 thanks for the reply! I did increase the texture memory - I'm not 100% certain the value I set matches my graphics card. I have a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060. I see a few different memory stats for it listed in dxdiag: total memory, display memory, shared memory. Do you know which value it should be set to? And does it have to match? I thought if you just increased it to something reasonable that was all you needed to change?
