    Yeah I feel you, I’ve had to sort of ‘control’ the in game spell lore as well, I like your ideas. In my own challenge thing, I passed off some of the stronger, more ‘ethically dubious’ spells like Necrocall,Dedeathify etc. as essentially being restricted to the elite spellcasters and the sages, and are forbidden to be practiced on school grounds (although some sages probably did at some point). Some spells like Dedeathify are so costly of ‘magical energy’ within the sim that the resulting magic overload from just one casting can be near fatal (or fully fatal if unlucky) so not worth the risk really. Repeated magic overload can cause a kind of nasty longterm illness in my headcanon, which is another deterrent to messing around with such magic.
    I like that, makes a lot of sense! You're right, the magic lore definitely needs to be tweaked when you're writing a story, otherwise your hero would never face any challenges since what you get in game is so overpowered that you wouldn't have any story to tell! :)

    We don't get to see what's in his head here, but he does mention that typically sage succession is exempt from a need to vote to make sure the realm has three sages no matter what. But you're right, he should have foreseen his words would be twisted against him. Or perhaps he did foresee him naming Darrel would not go down well so he wanted to get the "tricky" vote part out of the way. In any case, things didn't quite go to his plan here, to say the least :sweat_smile:

    Oh yeah, that was definitely why they gave her that name originally :) But I have changed pretty much everything about her, from looks to personality, so I figured why not butcher her name too while I'm at it :lol:

    Time to find out how L Faba and Dandelion's chat went.

    I know that feeling. :smiley:
    I think you and Snuffy are taking turns jabbing at me heart. :heartbreak:

    Wow... emotions.
    It's kinda jarring to see the shed and woodworking bench again, after all that's happened. Poor Cordie....

    @mercuryfoam I don't know how you manage with a cast your size!
    At least we alternate instead of jabbing at the same time, I guess? :sweat_smile:

    @SquirrelTail15
    Oh yes, that shed definitely goes back. Cordelia has still been going there regularly because of the juice fizzing machine, but seeing it with just the woodworking bench ought to have brought back memories...

    Not that the bar is particularly high as far as happiness goes at the moment, but this chapter is pretty glum.

    You're right, convincing Faba might be quite the challenge. We'll find out what Morgyn decides to do soon!

    Updating a day early for no reason, because apparently I just can't keep to a schedule. Oh well.

    Here we go again...
    Morgan, manipulative genius. Or not :D - I'm confused as to how that could actually have gone worse. Poor L; I actually feel sorry for her. She's got Cordie and Cordie's Mum all mixed up. And now Gemma's gonna get even more tangled in this, which I'm sure will turn out great, why on earth would that be something to worry about. Like I said, could not have gone worse.

    Oof, I see you are done with L Faba! She'd have a tough time to regain the sage title even if she changed her mind at this point. That being said, the fact she left her role as a sage does not necessarily mean she's out of the picture story-wise, it's definitely not the last we've seen of her, I can tell you that much.

    @SquirrelTail15
    Lol! Morgyn likes to paint themself to be this brilliant mastermind, but more often than not, their plans blow up in their face - they've even admitted as much a couple chapters ago. You're right, it couldn't have gone much worse... depending on perspective, I suppose. If you're Darrel Charm, it couldn't have gone any better. Yay! :lol:

    Yeah, L Faba's hated Cordelia for so long I'm not sure she'll ever be able to be completely rational about anything related to Cordelia, even if Dandy was to go into way more detail about his Britechester trip.

    That's the spirit, everything's terrific!!! :lol: Who knows, maybe Gemma is a secret wild card and will make lots of change for the better in the realm...
    Unrelated - I keep meaning to ask about your banner! When is the story dropping? Looks intriguing! :smile:

    Just to give you guys a heads up, the next chapter will probably be a day or two late. I'm technically not far off from finishing it but I have a really tight turnaround on something work-related so I won't have time tonight.

    On a semi-related note I'm contemplating going back to not having dedicated update days like I did in season 1. That's not to say the updates will decrease; I'll probably just switch to updating every 6-8 days depending on the week, which I realise is pretty more or less what I'm doing already anyway :lol: I know it's a better experience as a reader to know when exactly to expect updates, but my brain likes to make this deadlines = chores analogy, which is obviously not quite the mindset I was going for when I first started writing this :sweat_smile:

    Anyway, this is a very rambly way of saying no update tomorrow, but there will be one later in the week! :blush:

    I was really getting used to reading a chapter before I went into the office on Wednesdays (except for missing the last one argh!) but yeah, that's healthy for you. Not for my mind after how the last one ended. :p

    @InfraGreen I totally get that, I like knowing what update days to look forward to when I read too! It's really not working out for me when I write though. Maybe if I build enough of a buffer I'll be able to do a proper schedule again, though when that happens I just want to post as frequently as possible :lol:

    I finally have a new update for you guys! I wish it was more exciting to justify the wait :sweat_smile:

    New chapters are always worth the wait :D
    Morgyn still can't get into Slyvan Glade.... can't say I'm surprised. Wonder if they're annoyed or smug about it. And jeez, poor Hawthorne, still unreasonably hung up on Dandy. I have a feeling everything is about to go south for her fast. Wonder what Dandy's thoughts on the current situation is.
    Cordelia's attitude about Morgyn is... justified to say the least.
    The extra spellcaster lore is cool! Although, again, I have a feeling things are about to go very wrong very fast. Will go grab popcorn and watch it all play out.

    With my banner. I am setting up a story, though I'm not too great with continual projects so we'll have to see how it plays out. I should be able to start actually doing stuff later this year or early next, depends on how busy my life gets in the meantime. ;)

    @SquirrelTail15 Thank you! :blush:
    Yep, Morgyn still can't get into Sylvan Glade. There will be a bit more on the tree passage mechanics this season, or at least I think so :sweat_smile: Hawthorne is pretty hung up on Dandy, something safe and constant she's trying to latch on to with all these changes I suppose. Dandy's thoughts are likely... mixed. Morgyn is definitely the last person Cordelia wants to see. Good thing they don't stop by often.

    Haha, I see you are feeling feeling optimistic... not :D That's probably a wise attitude to have as far as BC is concerned. Glad you liked the extra lore! I'm hoping to cover a bit more spellcaster and vampire lore this season, as we should have more opportunities for that this time around.

    Ooh! Sounds intriguing, I'll keep an eye out! Definitely know what you mean about continual projects, I'm the same, believe it or not :smiley:

    Oh, Cordie...
    Both she and Hawthrone are so bundled up in their own issues, they're unable to see how it looks from the other point of view. I'd expect that from someone Hawthorne's age, but Cordie's an adult. Someone get these people to a family therapist :D . And Micah's trying to stay on Hawthorne's side while advocating for Cordie... let's sit back with some popcorn and watch how that goes.
    Morgyn's being nice for a change... I'm worried. They seem to genuinely care about Hawthorne, but I'm not convinced all this 'helping' is completely selfless. Wonder what Faba's up to post storming off?

    @SquirrelTail15
    They really are. In my experience being an adult is overrated. :smiley: Cordelia has always been a bit "all or nothing," which in her case almost got more prominent with age. Haha, if I had a penny every time someone suggested therapy for one of these guys I'd be rich! Alas I still have no plans for that, I've seen it used as a bit of a cheaty conflict resolution in fiction, not to mention that a therapist specialising in consulting supernaturals would be pretty niche - though admittedly could be a fun story! :)

    Yep, Micah is trying to resolve this without stepping on any toes, but that's likely not possible. Suspicious of Morgyn, I see. Selflessness is definitely not something they're known for. As far as BC goes it's never a bad idea to be suspicious of anyone :smiley:

    So this is a very rambly post to say BC is currently on hiatus.

    Hiatus

    PS: I'll still be around on the forums as usual, so while things might be quieter on this thread for a bit, you're not getting rid of me :D
