Thank you @Clousinators I am so pleased that you liked my park. I think I will do the Wedding Venue next and I hope its ok if I use the 'House' as well I think possibly it will not be a house but part of the wedding somehow, plus I hope its ok if I turn the house to the back. Off now to see what ideas I get I am so pleased you have that Kit Kitchen as I think I might use that and possibly some pack items you do not have.
@Clousinators is there a prefered architecture you want for the build?
Playtesting - not just tabletop games and card games any more. Really that should have been playtested in Beta and not
Moving Thread along and Btw I am still doing inside the house Lol its bigger than I thought Great shell though to use with room enough for a decent size family
@luckyheather Thanks for all the little bumps! I had a busy week and haven't been on as much recently.
All the blue shrubbery and décor around the pond in the front looks nice together with the blue fountain. I like what you've done with the garden, it looks very organized. The main area with the wedding arch looks beautiful, there is a ton of blue but its not overdone at all. Touches of purple help add a nice pop. I like the little flower bed by the dancefloor with the small statue. I like that the dining/reception area matches but has a more relaxed feel with the umbrellas and lights. Our family will be happy that you've added a grill. I like the glass roof on the new covered areas you added. I love all the blue flowers you placed all over the yard. It has a nice professional feel to it. I like the new layout of the interior. The music studio and teen bedroom go well together. The layout of the living/dining room is nice. The toddler's bedroom is super cute. Good job making the study large enough for the entire family. I have never seen a kitchen layout like that before and I really like it (I might have to use that in a future build). That home gym is something I need in real life to get me motivated. It looks so relaxing. I like that the hot tub and bubble stations are separate to add some privacy. Great job on this entire lot! It looks like a wonderful place to have a wedding!
Thank you so much for the lovely review of my house and wedding garden, I am pleased you liked the aqua blue I used with the purple, I was trying to use that wedding arch to match colours and added white to break it up, I know gardens are something I am constantly trying to improve on so I am thrilled you like my efforts. By the way I dont know if you could see from screenshots, I added 2 speakers at the base of the flowerbed with the dancing statue in, for music for the dance floor.
I am happy that you liked my interiors as well as it turned out to be a larger house than I thought Lol, its great you like the kitchen as I had done something similar in a recent build I did for Sulani and I used my own screenshots to create a version of it in your home as I knew you had the Island pack, I did think I could do it all with the packs you have but I could not hold back from using more Lol. Thanks again for your review and all these great challenges, I might do more of them later, I fancy doing the Lounge/Club as I enjoy doing community lots.
@luckyheather I didn't notice the little speakers in the garden bed, thats a good idea! I may eventually get more packs...I want more but I keep convincing myself to save the money. Maybe soon I'll add a few more to my collection. Once I get the motivation to finish my current build I wanted to try some of your shells as well
@ThheFornicator Hi! All of the challenges are still open so you can pick whichever one you feel up to building! Can't wait to see what you come up with
Hi @Clousinators I thought a HiFi would look out of place near the piano so I thought speakers hiding in front of the dance floor would be better and sims can still see them to click on them to play music
I have all packs as for Birthdays, Christmas etc I always ask for them Lol and as my hubby smoked he could not refuse to buy me any packs that come out between those days Lol so I have all Sims 3 as well I just have to have everything for creating my rooms and builds or I would feel frustrated if I wanted to use something that I saw in the gallery I just hope now I am on my own I can afford what is out next!
That would be great, feel free to use my shells for what ever you want them for and change them to suit any build as I have relaxed rules and no time limit
Hi @Clousinators just to let you know I did the Lounge with packs you have, it says Get Famous its a mistake as I put fence from that pack then removed it, I did save over and over but it insists on naming the pack. I hope you like the Lounge, it is on a 30x20 as requested
@luckyheather The exterior of Skye Lounge looks awesome! All the white and blue matches so well, right down to the fountain colors. I like the modern/cube style for this lot, it goes with the neighborhood. The green patio areas are a very nice touch, they give the lot a nice airy look and have a perfect view out the back. The waterfall looks nice behind the fountains and floating candles. The large bar looks nice in the space on the first floor with the large windows behind it. The karaoke lounge on the third floor looks cute and comfortable with a nice little balcony over looking the plaza. I like the way you did the roofing over this room and the other outdoor green patio. My favorite room is the stage/lounge room with the keyboard and guitar, it looks very relaxing and inviting with the lighting and layout. Great job on this lounge!
Also, great job using only the packs I have, I really didn't expect anyone to do it because I know it is probably frustrating lol
Hi @Clousinators I am so pleased that you like the Lounge so much and I was inspired by the surrounding area and the window colour that I rarely use. I did use a picture of a build to start me off as I liked the steps and the 1st open area, so I must admit to have folders galore of pictures to give me some ideas on building styles and themes. I am glad you like the water displays as I love to see some movement around or sometimes in a build and I added a pool as I like to see sims sitting on the edge feet dangling in the water and them having a nice chat. I had to add the Karaoke as with packs limited I use what ever fun objects that are are available thats why I added the game mat too I love watching sims using it. The little stage area I tried to make cozy in case you take a date there and couples can sit at the front and enjoy the music. I did miss not having a dance floor and fooseball table, I use the Get together pack so much! Lol.
Thanks for the great challenge I had fun trying to create it with the pack limit I hope you enjoyed your Birthday in game
Oh and by the way I was pleased you have Dine Out as its the best pack for more Carpets! I dont understand why we are given so few carpets and wall coverings, I miss the re-colouring stuff from Sims 3.
Hey all! The challenges look great, I’d love to have a go at one. I tend to like building smaller-scale stuff (I’m terrible at big rooms), so I might have a go at the secret house challenge in the next few days? I’ve got an idea for a Granite Falls-style cabin that has a secret lair underneath…
This is a new account (coming back to the forums after a couple of years away), so won’t be able to post links and photos I think… but I’ll tag you in it when I put it up on the gallery and post here when I’ve done it? My gallery stuff is under ‘Ragnaiel’ (a weird old reference which isn’t worth explaining!)
@luckyheather I miss the recoloring and different swatches from the sims 3 sooo much! I am really hoping they bring them back in the new sims (if we ever get a new sims)
@SilentBees Welcome back to the forums! There are a few threads on here where you can comment and people will like them to boost your points so that you can start posting photos. A thread to come and introduce yourself Feel free to do any of my previous challenges. I usually check the gallery every other day or so but you can always share a link on this thread so we all can see your entry easier
Done! I made it pretty quickly so it’s not massively polished, but a secret house is now on my gallery. I’m Ragnaiel on there, and the lot is called Whisper Creek Cabin.
No CC used, and I came up with a little backstory while I was building it. The basic idea is that it’s a semi-disused hiker’s cabin, only occupied a few days a year as a rental by travellers. It’s set a little back in the woods, away from the main path. However, the park rangers in Granite Falls have noticed that the porch light is still on and the campfire has fresh ashes, even when nobody’s rented it for months.
The reason for that is that the cabin’s owner, when not renting it out, has built a secret laboratory underneath it. It’s small, cramped and not-well lit, disguised as a storage cupboard with a door that’s jammed so no renting Sim can open it. Inside, a red ladder leads down to the black, silver and red lab, with state-of-ther art equipment and a map to monitor all Sims in the area (and make sure they're not discovered).
Used the move objects cheat a few times, and sadly it’s not 100% functional (the bed doesn’t quite work) - but it should be fixable pretty easily (remove the shelves and the desk, I think). Alternatively, drop it in as a generic lot, and all the devices should work. From there, it might be a place for your Sims to explore - either staying somewhere else, or even renting the cabin itself. See if they stumble across the secret lab, and even if they decide to use it themselves…
Hope you enjoy it - and thanks for the lovely challenge, it was great inspiration!
@SilentBees Sorry I didn't respond faster, I've been on vacation. I like the backstory of your build, I will download and take a tour of it tomorrow once I am home and settled.
And for anyone else reading a new challenge will be coming soon
@SilentBees Whisper Creek Cabin looks good! The backstory is nice and helps set the tone for entering the lot. Good use of terrain paint, flowers, and rocks with the trees to add some landscaping. The cabin itself looks so tiny no one would ever know what's hidden beneath it! The landscaping in the back around the swing set and bench are a nice touch. Good use of the bunk bed and desk to utilize space in such a small area. The underground lab is very cool looking and a nice modern offset to the cabin style upstairs. I don't have all the packs you have so I can't see everything but your backstory really helps fill in the gaps Great job! Have you tried making a little page of screen shots so that if anyone else doesn't have the packs they can see what it originally looks like? I hope you join some more challenges!
We recently took a trip to Boston and it was amazing, I was in awe of some of the architecture. Most of the neighborhoods I thought were the coolest were full of colonial or Italian themed townhomes. So for this challenge I want to reminisce and also see what your row of townhouses will look like. You can search for pictures if you are not familiar, I will post a few below as well
No budget or lot size limit, but tag your creations with #clousinators so I can find them easily on the gallery!
@SilentBees I like your secret house challenge. I wondered about the shower cubicle sitting outside, but then I thought - well now, the owner with his secret chemical lab might well need to de-contaminate sometimes, and of course that would be most safely done outdoors!
@Clousinators - thank you! The terrain paint work etc is mostly adapting what's there in the base lot, I'm not great at exteriors so I'm using them to practice! Glad you liked it, and I should definitely do screenshots - I still need to get that working but I will do at some point and add that all in. Might tweak a few little bits of clutter and placement as well.
I've been to Boston quite a few times as well, so I really like that townhouse style, might have a go at that one soon. Will post here if I do!
@PriestessDreadful - absolutely! Can't be having all your weird dyes and acids and other things in your normal bathroom, otherwise someone might find out! (Or you have a really, really bad mix-up with your shampoo...)
