I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion but maybe it is because it can be seen as limiting but i love that townies in sims 3 stick to one job and are always unavailable to group outings and dates during the real work hours of that specific job.

So @texxx78 to translate that to a Sims 4 unpopular opinion you dislike that sims are available at all times?

@simgirl1010 no... i wouldn't say so... i've been playing 3 and i've noticed that i love that in sims 3 but i'm ok with sims 4 being different on that... I can't say i missed that in 4...

I apologize if this is a sims 4 thread. I always come to threads from the "recent discussions". I thought this thread was about the franchise :)

Another unpopular opinion: I have zero interest in sims that are not at least teens. I'm barely comfortable with teen sims in my save.

    [...me babbling too much...]

That said, I'm still thinking over the Toddler and Parenthood packs - for their other features. But wary about getting them if they'll undo my efforts to prevent the existence of toddlers and kids in my save... ;)

Well, kids do make messes with parenthood, but you could probably find a mod to stop that. I don’t use mods and I do have families with children in my game. But the messes can be annoying.

As long as it didn't force me to put kids into my households, or force a bunch of random generated ones into the neighborhoods. At which point the value of that pack for me would just be in it's build and CAS stuff.

I don't understand why players get annoyed when the occults from the pack they bought actually shows up often. Even more so with non-occult players; if you aren't going to be using the gameplay, don't be surprised when vampires or spellcasters, or whatever, exist. Or better yet, don't buy the pack if you don't really want the gameplay.
I still don't understand why lilsimsie won't uninstall the packs she doesn't like.

That's human nature, sadly. It's like people who buy houses near airports then complain about the noise of aeroplanes!

People like the stuff in the pack but don't like the gameplay. So that's why they don't just uninstall it. They could have just added an option to turn occult spawn off. But they take the choice out of players hands and further divide the community over this occult vs realism nonsense.

How does this translates to a Sims 4 unpopular opinion?

I have grown to dislike every life stage younger than teenager and only force myself to play through them to get good grades and traits. The last thing I want are improved babies that I would have to waste more time on.

How does this translates to a Sims 4 unpopular opinion?

Because some simmers aren't able to comment about Sims 4 without mentioning 2 or 3.

I'm talking about random threads on the forum. You could be talking about a feature in Sims 4 and invariably there'll be a comment about how the Sims 2 does it better. 😄 Not saying that's bad, just that it happens.

Huh so it is a jealousy thing. That is interesting. I don't view it as bad either. I like to throw in Sims 1 Drew Carey parties being one of my favorite things too and oh the cake dancers and cage dancers. I guess unpopular opinion I find Sims 4 parties and nightlife boring. I am also ok with Sims 4 being the youngest sibling trying to grow alongside its other sibling games including mobile with SimsCity being its parent game that abandoned them this time around. I mean if they wanted to go a different safer route they would have called it MySims instead and rated the game E for everyone.

One more: there is nothing fun about mermaids. All they try to do 27/7 is swim, not giving a plum about going to work, their kids starving or their own needs, making them unplayable for me unless I turn the autonomy off. Being mermaid is what they are, but it shouldn't be their whole personality.

Cats and Dogs is a bad pack, and Brindleton Bay is a boring world.

I like Brindleton Bay, but I agree about Cats and Dogs. I don't like how it focused so much on the vet career, and pets aren't playable, and no small pets.

I don' want any more occults in The Sims 4. I've seen so many people say they want werewolves and faires added to the game, but I personally couldn't care less about them. What I really want is more family gameplay à la The Sims 3: Generations.

I could just as easily do without any occults.

I get that I got vampires in my game because I grabbed a pack named vampires - that was an obvious one I could have chosen to avoid (it was in a bundle on Steam so it was just too good to pass up). But I didn't grab a pack about aliens, and somehow I have a few of those also. The biggest thing holding me off from getting the Island pack is that I don't want my game overtaken by mermaids - which should have been in a pack called 'mermaids' and not in one about island living.

Frankly... I'd still consider the Vampire pack a good buy for me if I could have it, and just disable actual vampires. All the CAS and build content is really nice... I did recently make a vampire though to see if I could enjoy that, and I've not deleted the premade ones.

Am thinking of making a house with wall to wall murphy beds and making a household for it that has all the aliens the game keeps adding... and just stepping away and shutting the door... ;)

Tip: Mermaids never show up in IL until you blow the orange conch shell. That triggers them and even then it's still rare you see one.

There is no reason whatsoever to have "announcements" about announcements for content. I don't give a flying plum if the so-called SimGurus think it's cute or creative. Just fracking tell us that you're going to announce a new expansion, game, or stuff pack on (insert random date here). Stop treating us like we're all five years old. I don't need another reason to be angry at this game and the clueless people who run it.

Probably an unpopular opinion: I really want another city world. I love living in the City Living world because it always looks so alive and full of activity.

Just imagine another city world, but maybe focused more on tourism? We could have hotels, casinos, malls, and/or other fun tourist traps. Depending on where the inspiration for the world comes from, we could also have a lot of the culture littered in every corner. Or have fun skills added, like if they did a S. Korean city, we could have Taekwondo added to the game, etc etc.

Guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed for this one 🤞

No I'm with you on that.

I want more urban environments too.

I think this is actually a place for packs.

I want a 'Newcrest' like Urban Pack - just a bunch of vacant lots in a city like layout. Half of them Apartments that are not filled or furnished - just the door of each apartment but the inner walls missing. No more than 1 or 2 penthouses though because those basically use a whole lot for one home which just feels like it belongs more in suburban spaces.

Beyond that half - the remaining lots would be 'spots in the layout' that could be used for anything - homes, retail, parks, whatever... But when you go to those zones you're in distinct city neighborhoods.

As a Pack, it could be made to require City Living. And then have some expanded elements if you had things like seasons to add in festivals.

But as a $10 Pack - it could fairly be an empty map with no new gameplay features.

I would go nuts with happy if we had 'blank map neighborhood' packs that were meant to go alongside various expansions. Imagine ones to make 'more Strangerville', or 'more islands' or 'more universities' or 'more magic spots' or more 'vampire whatevers'...

I just want more space to build stuff and move my sims to.

It's a result of the age of Social Media.

I don't like it either, but the model for everything these days it put your train on the hype rail and go. Everything in modern marketing about trying to get 'engagement' going over a constant stream of hyping people up. And... it's working. Everyone is talking about what they're hyping... Even posting that we don't like it actually feeds into making it work better, thereby providing motive for more of it to be done.

The only 'death' for social media is to be ignored.

I love everything you wrote. *high five* City Living is my favorite pack, it added so much awesome to the game that I can even forgive it for adding karaoke. I would love to see another city area for sure.

Just to run one step further with this. About 2 years ago listening to a tech podcast while in traffic one of the speakers brought up the notion of 'AI / Skynet / the singularity' - when the robots take over... and made the point that if it hasn't happened already, it's basically coming next Tuesday... the 'robots' don't need to be smarter than us or have better orbital lasers and killer droids... they just have to outsmart our dinosaur brain... Which is basically what the algorithm of every social media system does...

The dumbest form of AI, is our new robot overlord, and it just wants more clicks.

Modern marketing is just the cat now walking us... it's just us having been trained by our 'robot master' to obey and get it clicks. ;)

Drives me nuts to see a game getting sold to me like this, but if I was working in marketing, I'd probably be writing the campaign to do that hype train too... because while SkyNet isn't sending Terminator anytime soon; none of us have escaped ClickNet...

We do have robot pizza delivery service now:

I remember there were some old Twilight Zone episodes predicting robots taking over the world too.
