I made a mod that carries over skills on age up (specifically child to teen)

What it does:
This simple little mod allows children's skills to actually mean something when they age up into a teen. No longer will those 7 motor skill levels go to waste on their birthday, instead, they'll be put towards the equivalent adult skill when aging up to a teen.

Kids skills will now contribute to an equivalent adult skill when they age up from Child to Teen, the higher the skill level, the further in the adult skill they'll be on age up. Specifically, the Creativity Skill will turn into the Painting Skill, the Motor Skill will turn into the Fitness Skill, the Mental Skill will turn into the Logic Skill, and the Social Skill will turn into the Charisma Skill. (Please note, it's not a 1:1 ratio, and more details on the values can be found below.

But why?
Hasn't it ever infuriated you that the Toddler Skills evolve to help with Children's Skills, yet when that rambunctious social butterfly ages into a teen, suddenly they can hardly speak, and god forbid they set foot on a treadmill, right? I know it bugged me quite a bit, especially since the only way to build adult skills as a child is to totally max the child skill out and "Ain't nobody got time for 'dat". So I decided if there was ever a reason for me to learn to mod this game, it was for this specifically.

Known Issues:
  • When hovering over the skills gained on Age Up Trait Selection screen, dialogue is same as toddler dialogue

Future Planned Updates:
  • Fix the dialogue issue mentioned

Nerdy Details:
Using S4S, I copied the section that allows toddler traits to evolve into the children's traits from their respective tuning files. As for the values at each level of the skill, they're as follows:
1 = 600
2 = 900
3 = 1200
4 = 1600
5 = 2400
6 = 3600
7 = 5400
8 = 7200
9 = 10000
10 = 13500

Which roughly equals out to each level in the Child Skill equating to half a level of the adult equivalent, meaning a max skill will give just over level 5 to the adult skill.

Special Thanks and Credits:
I couldn't have even begun to learn how to do any of this without the Sims 4 Studio.

    Nice, congratulations :) can you share your mods' link? I'ld be interested.
    There's one from the same modder that does the Tool mod (twisted mexi, i think). The mod is called lifetime skills.

    Sounds awesome! I'd also upload it to SimsFileShare and MediaFire and share the link on Tumblr/Twitter for more exposure.

    Just wanted to post a small update. Not only was I able to fix the notification for when a child maxes out a skill, but I was also able to create a secondary mod that can be used in conjunction with this mod, or separately, that unlocks a lot of adult skills for children to learn as well. I'll be making a whole post about that mod soon, but I need to get all of those details in order. Originally, it was just going to expand this mod, but it really did become it's whole own project and not everyone will want those skills unlocked, even though they may like the child skills transforming into adult skills on age up, hence the decision to make it a whole other mod.

    This is cool! Thanks for the work and for sharing the news
    My username has been my internet handle for over 20 years since I was 16 and refers to when I had a crush on a very tall boy. I intend absolutely no violence toward beautiful giraffes. <3

    A little late to the party, but I have a question:

    What happens to the adult skills that they gain as a child with this mod?
    Ex. When a child maxes Social, it unlocks the Charisma and Mischief skills. Say that child maxed Charisma. Upon aging up, does the skill "reset" and it drop back down to 5 or will it simply be left alone at 10?

    My mod actually disables that base feature, so it no longer unlocks at max level, which does mean that the absolute maximum a child can achieve is level 5 from maxing out their social skill. I hope that helps :)
