I come from a family of polar bears. I inherited a rare family gene where anything under 75 is too cold for me and I need to bundle up. The first chance I got, I moved to a nice, warm climate. Summers are sometimes oppressive, but it's worth it to feel my hands.
In Canada, we have been using the metric system since the 70s. However, I still think in both Farenheit and Celsuis. I still think in imperial measures over metric.
I wonder if the US will ever join the rest of the world and convert over to metric as well.
As much as we Brits love to talk (read 'complain') about our weather we have to admit that we can't compete with the extremes you get in the US! We don't hear much about Canadian weather but I guess you can get some dramatic chills too ... though maybe not the scorchers so much? 😉
It is odd how countries can hang on to some 'traditional' measures and attitudes, like us and our pints and mph road speeds, I'm often surprised by how 'backward' the US can be while also being so innovative in many areas. Likewise seeing how pervasive credit cards and even phone payments are in the UK while card usage, especially credit cards, in Germany is barely a quarter of that in many other European countries. Curious. 🤔

With the simpoints I have, I couldn't even buy the serenity retreat at regular price, but with the daily deals within the next 2 months, I'll be able to get the serenity retreat, plus 7 premium content items. To my benefit, none of the deals are early in the morning (or in the morning at all). I remember back in May last year, I stayed up until 6:30am to get sunlit tides at half price (didn't think I would wake up that early) 😅

LOL... I once set my alarm clock to around that time, just so I could get some sleep. No way could I stay up all night just to download something at the Sims 3 Store!
And I ended up not getting it. I thought I was going to get the Grandpa's Grove for free because I already bought the tractor for 733 SimPoints and the Solace Snugabunny Deluxe Baby Swing for 265 SimPoints. The Solace Snugabunny Deluxe Baby Swing allowed me to get the rest of the set completely free on the DD. It wasn't much, though.
What a waste of SimPoints.

Here's a question, is anyone actually running the 64-bit version on a Mac? Have you noticed any performance improvements?
@Jude525 I'm running the 64-bit version in the sense that I have it installed, and sometimes I test stuff. But I can't play it. A number of things are completely broken, and not just minor details but important features like all open water options.
The camera stutters so badly it gives me a headache. There are some very strange glitches, most startlingly the fact that snowy roads show through the walls of any open lot. Sometimes the entire game window flashes red over and over; I haven't been able to figure out why beyond the fact that some lots are consistently affected.
Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled that people running OSs that don't support 32-bit apps can play again. But I went right back to playing the 32-bit Windows version. I can deal with the RAM limit, and other than that, the game works more or less the way I want it to. There's nothing about the 64-bit version that makes me want to play it.
@Jude525 What puzzlezaddict said. 64 bit is terrible. I only play in CAW worlds now, and only play with world sizes of 512 or 1024 and only Rflong's worlds, they are flawless. But I strayed and I installed Death Island yesterday and it went to the red screen, I assumed it was because she had 2 business', 2 bookstores, 2 grocery stores, a College etc. Everything was cluttered together so I uninstalled that world.
I don't install seasons because of the road glitches (I only liked seasons because it would show who was sending your sim love letters/ mail
Uni still has an issue where its hard (basically impossible) to travel back home. I have that installed, I just don't send them to Uni anymore.
Origin did an update a few days ago (I thought I had that turned off) and now I am stuck in offline mode. I only have sims3 installed but I guess they don't want me online That's ok though, I can still download from the store (I totally ignore the Origin log in because its not necessary for downloading, I only sign in to Origin when I am ready to install the stuff I downloaded).
I have it to where I can enjoy the game, but it's sad I have to jump hoops and figure out workarounds all the time. I lurk the HQ all the time which can be helpful when problems arise! Good luck if you end up trying the 64 bit version.

As much as we Brits love to talk (read 'complain') about our weather we have to admit that we can't compete with the extremes you get in the US! We don't hear much about Canadian weather but I guess you can get some dramatic chills too ... though maybe not the scorchers so much? 😉
It is odd how countries can hang on to some 'traditional' measures and attitudes, like us and our pints and mph road speeds, I'm often surprised by how 'backward' the US can be while also being so innovative in many areas. Likewise seeing how pervasive credit cards and even phone payments are in the UK while card usage, especially credit cards, in Germany is barely a quarter of that in many other European countries. Curious. 🤔

With the simpoints I have, I couldn't even buy the serenity retreat at regular price, but with the daily deals within the next 2 months, I'll be able to get the serenity retreat, plus 7 premium content items. To my benefit, none of the deals are early in the morning (or in the morning at all). I remember back in May last year, I stayed up until 6:30am to get sunlit tides at half price (didn't think I would wake up that early) 😅
LOL... I once set my alarm clock to around that time, just so I could get some sleep. No way could I stay up all night just to download something at the Sims 3 Store!
And I ended up not getting it. I thought I was going to get the Grandpa's Grove for free because I already bought the tractor for 733 SimPoints and the Solace Snugabunny Deluxe Baby Swing for 265 SimPoints. The Solace Snugabunny Deluxe Baby Swing allowed me to get the rest of the set completely free on the DD. It wasn't much, though.
What a waste of SimPoints.
But, at least I got the best items from the set - the tractor. The tractor comes with the vehicle, tractor tracks and the orange trees.

@Jude525 I'm running the 64-bit version in the sense that I have it installed, and sometimes I test stuff. But I can't play it. A number of things are completely broken, and not just minor details but important features like all open water options.
The camera stutters so badly it gives me a headache. There are some very strange glitches, most startlingly the fact that snowy roads show through the walls of any open lot. Sometimes the entire game window flashes red over and over; I haven't been able to figure out why beyond the fact that some lots are consistently affected.
Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled that people running OSs that don't support 32-bit apps can play again. But I went right back to playing the 32-bit Windows version. I can deal with the RAM limit, and other than that, the game works more or less the way I want it to. There's nothing about the 64-bit version that makes me want to play it.
I don't install seasons because of the road glitches (I only liked seasons because it would show who was sending your sim love letters/ mail
Uni still has an issue where its hard (basically impossible) to travel back home. I have that installed, I just don't send them to Uni anymore.
Origin did an update a few days ago (I thought I had that turned off) and now I am stuck in offline mode. I only have sims3 installed but I guess they don't want me online
I have it to where I can enjoy the game, but it's sad I have to jump hoops and figure out workarounds all the time. I lurk the HQ all the time which can be helpful when problems arise! Good luck if you end up trying the 64 bit version.
