Finally did, this year. My middle phalanx of my pinky finger, because I dropped a pair of 15-lb handweights from my hand only a few inches above the surface of the rebounder, while crouching nearby, thought they'd bob a little but not fly right back up and together, right on my finger like Wiley E. Coyote between two boulders, and break the bone! It was the craziest thing.

I have, more times than I can count. Every time I've pulled over and offered someone who looked like they needed one, a ride, they tend to talk and it's friendly. I haven't done that since Covid, but when I can, I like to help people out.

I have written two middle grade novels so far (unpublished) and have ideas for more. Just finished the first full draft of the second one last year. Currently rewriting it to get the word count down.

yes. I got paddled once in fact. Someone had cleverly manipulated me in little stages to do something I wouldn't otherwise have done but there was no way I was going to point fingers at them because I'd rather take the paddling than be the kind of weenie who offloads blame, and I did in fact do it. I learned a lesson that day, and the paddling wasn't what taught it to me, it was the humiliation of having played into someone's hands so easily, and the genuine remorse for the consequences of it.
@Arkane I did skip school, but not by stealth. Just by leaving at lunch and not making it back. Once was a 'senior skip day' orchestrated by my best bud, and it's a memory I'll always cherish. Sometimes you have to break the rules, or you find out too late, that you can't buy back a life unlived. We'll all eat our pound of dirt in life anyway, so may as well take that last piece of cake instead of dutifully passing it.
