If you have to uninstall some packs....

So i assume most simmers here own a lot of DLCS like i do...

So for those who do: because they like to complete their collection:

Lets pretend the sims 4 became unstable and the more packs are installed the worse it gets. So you have to Mary Kondo some of these packs...

Which one would it be and why? What are your essentials and which of these packs would you get rid of with a sad eye

___
This is my take. heavenly Gameplay focused, since CC is a thing, so the build/buy CAS Items is not included, even though i love some of the items a lot

Eps:
Get together: Socialisation is very important in my game. Also stuff to do new hang out spot(s)
Seasons:_Realistic. Family Gameplay_
Island Living/Snowy: I need some vacation spots with activities.

Gameplay Packs:
Dine Out: I need my Sims to go somewhere to hang out. I like foodxD
Parenthood: Gives Teens and Kids more personality...
SpaDay: If i am gonna mention the vacation packs then spa day expands on that. Also a nice hobby pack

Stuff Packs:

The only Stuff Pack that would stay are:
Spooky Stuff/Backyard Stuff: Because they expand on Seasons ¦
Toodler Stuff: Because of getting to now other toodlers the easy way... always used.

The only pack that i think has more bad points then good is discover university. Barely used.

So how about you?

I don't even want to consider this... i get that eventually we would need to update our pcs if we want all the packs, but not of letting go any that i bought.

    I have to agree with @telmarina .
I don’t fancy considering worse case or what if scenarios for fun.

For me it’s either all or nothing. And I would do everything I can to keep it all. Fun is number One!

However, I do have some favorites like Seasons and Jungle Adventures, but these packs wouldn’t be as enjoyable without the packs that I do own. For me anyway.
I’m not a collector per se: I don’t buy things just to have them and finish my collection, although at this stage I own all the dlc because I find that each pack offers elements that suits my gameplay. I don’t like giving up any of them and I don’t like thinking about that either.

I wouldn't want to get rid of anything that I paid for, but if I had to get rid of some packs I'd get rid of Discover University, Outdoor Retreat, Spooky Stuff and Snowy Escape. Just because those packs don't impact my day to day gameplay at all, I don't really ever touch any of the features from them so it wouldn't really bother me if they weren't there

Just trying to think about this makes me feel panicky. I have everything so far and I use all of it. Woo, *fans self* I need to go sit down.

I already do not own vampires, star wars, paranormal and snowy escape (though I plan to get the last one as soon as I can get sims working again). The first three would be first to go if I had them.

Besides that the ones I'd uninstall are Bowling Night, Spa Day, City Living, Discover University, Romantic Garden, Vintage, and maybe Get Famous.

My essentials that I'd have to keep are Island Living, Jungle, Parenthood, Seasons, Get Together, My First Pet, Laundry, Moschino, Strangerville, Get to Work, Movie Night, Spooky, Kniting, Toddler Stuff, Kids Stuff

my absolute minimum essentials would be Get Together, RoM, Vampires and Paranormal, they must be kept at all costs!
Packs I would get rid of first would be DU, EL, Dine Out, Bowling Night and Fitness, cause I hardly use the gameplay.
Everything else I'd have to go through the BB and Cas besides considering the gameplay...cuz CC in not a thing for me (on console).

I don't every pack, but if I had to uninstall anything, it would be none, because I wouldn't be able to choose.
The expansions I have are ones that I really wanted so far, so getting rid of them wouldn't really work for me. The only exceptions were a couple stuff packs that I got with a bundle pack, which were those expansion packs that had at least 3 other packs with it, but even then those stuff packs weren't terrible. Not great, but not terrible.
Here is the list of what I do have; Snowy Escape, Discover University ( I would maybe cut this, but it add a world, so probably not), Island Living, Get Famous, Seasons, Cats and Dogs, City Living, Get Together, Get to Work, Realm of Magic, Stangerville (We get a world, and different game play, so I probably not going to get rid of this either), Jungle Adventure, Vampires, Parenthood, Dine Out, Spa Day, Paranormal, Nifty Knitting, Tiny Living, Toddler stuff, Fitness, Bowling Night (would probably cut this pack out of all of them so far), Kids Room, Romantic Garden (I like the outfits, and the wishing well are the reason why this wouldn't be cut), Cool Kitchen, and Spooky stuff.
Also, recently just got Journey to Batuu, would probably be the only one I cut, but so far it is better than I thought it would be. Plus, I do like Star Wars, but really hate how this was advertised. Also since it is just a theme park gimmick for Disney.
Long story short, that there are still packs I want to get, the packs I have now are ones I won't be able to uninstall if I ever had to make that choice.

I can quite easily let go of University but I want the three jobs.

I could let go of get to work but I can’t live without retails.

Pets I can quite happily let go completely as I am not a pet person.

Outdoor retreat can go as we now have sulani and japan packs.

I can almost let go of realm of magic completely.

All stuff packs can go except for laundry day if I am honest. I still want to keep paranormal as it is new.

Well, I would never let go of anything that could corrupt my 6 years old save with 100+ actively played houses, but if I could continue playing the old save file, I'd let go off:

Parenthood - the "ask for advice" pop ups drive me nuts. I like the idea of sims growing up with extra trait(s) based on how they were raised, but I must admit I don't really use the Parenting feature a lot, so hardly any sims get the extra traits anyway.

Cats & Dogs - I think the ts4 pets are very well made, and they are quite entertaining to have around, but I added them to just a few houses long ago, and it gets kinda "the dog takes all the focus 24/7" when I play those houses. I mean, my sim cleans the litter box and 1 hr later it needs cleaning again. Or pets being sick way too often. For rotationally play the pack is not well designed. I'd miss the strays more than the live in pets.

Can't think of any more packs that I don't really care too much about.

Edit: I got to keep C&D because I need Brindleton Bay in my life...

    I would always have these:

Expansion: City Living. Just love the city vibe and apartments.🥳
Game packs: Vampires and StrangerVille. Gotta have some unusual happenings!!! 😂
Stuff Packs: Bowling and Romantic Garden. 👍. Bowling venue is a great hang out and I love the plants and statues fir the garden.

Now alternating between Sims 2,3 and 4! 😊☕️🌞

I wouldn’t want to get rid of any of them, but here is my list to let go if I had to.
Star Wars - the only one I don’t have so that’s an easy first pick
Outdoor retreat - I don’t mind it, but the other vacation spots are better IMO
Bowling stuff - ok pack but I don’t use it much
Get to work - I like it but could live without it
Strangerville - I’d only miss the world
    Moschino - didn’t add much
Tiny living - I only use the items from that one
Laundry day - mostly bought it for CAS
Eco lifestyle - I like the added crafts but could also live without it

I don't have Get to Work, Journey to Batuu or a bunch of stuff packs, but from the ones I own... if I really had to uninstall some those would be:
Eco lifestyle (I still haven't integrated it much to my play, so it would still be rather easy to let go)
Dine Out (there are always food stalls...)
Cats & Dogs (my spellcasters and sims who live alone would greatly miss their furry friends/familiars, but somehow the TS4 pets just don't excite me that much)

    Also maybe:
Parenthood (I'd miss all the additional interactions, traits, shouting forbidden words and throwing tantrums  )
Spa Day (I'd really miss saunas, bath soaks and yoga)
Outdoor Retreat (I love the tents and camping equipment and herbalism and stargazing are cool, but now that Snowy Escape has tents too I might be able to let this one go)

Anyway, honestly I would rather keep them all! I love how all of them add something new to the game and I need many packs to fully enjoy playing :relaxed:

I don't have every pack yet, so I can really only rank the ones I have and I'd rather keep them all. But I do have some that are much more important than others.

Absolute essentials I couldn't live without.
    - Cats & Dogs. (Animals, especially cats are of big importance to me and my livelyhood in real life and I couldn't live without them in my game.)
    - Vampires
    - Realm of Magic
    - Paranormal
(I'm a big occult fan/player and a vast majority of my favorite shows/movies/books revolve around the supernatural so all three of these are super important to me as well and I couldn't give them up)

Would have a hard time giving up but slightly less important
    - Get Together (because of Windenberg mainly. I love how big it is & the espresso drinks if I'm being honest. Flavored coffee is a big must.)
    - Island Living (I would miss my Mermaids & Sulani too much even though I'm not a beach person.)
    - Snowy Escape (This is one has one of our most unique towns and I love that we have snowboarding now. Plus the cat wallpaper is  )
    - Spa Day (I actually use bath soaks a lot- they remind me of real life bath bombs and meditation and yoga are both things I've been wanting to try in real life so I often have my sims level up their wellness skills, especially spellcaster sims since witchcraft and wellness go hand to hand in my mind. Although I normally use them at home than in the actual spa.)
    - Movie Hangout - Prior to the release of Paranormal, I would have ranked this lower. But since it was released, I've been downloading (and then renovating) a lot of New Orleans inspired builds to recreate Willow Creek and this pack has gotten a lot of love from me recently.)

Would rather keep but could let go if necessary
    - Seasons (I love having seasons/weather in my game, but because there's no world added, it's less important to me than some of the others.)
-Discovery University (probably the only one with a world that will be in this category. It just doesn't add as much to my gameplay as I hoped it would, but I still enjoy Britechester and this pack is very YA Centric which is the age group I fall into in real life so it's kind of relatable in a way.)
    - My First Pet Stuff (I actually don't hate this pack and feel it's worth the HALF PRICE ($5 USD) I got it for on sale, but I agree it is quite limiting in terms of items and would not recommend paying full price for it.)
    - Tiny Living (I use the BB and CAS items quite a bit, especially since they come in handy when running out of space. But I don't really make tiny homes all that much.
    - Nifty Knitting (I was kind of tossed up about where to put this one at first, but I realized it's mainly only important to me because of the plushie toys that I normally just add via debug cheats or buy from Plopsy, Plopsy itself & the radio stations - I'm more of a "focus" person myself, but I have a lot of Sims who are into metal so it comes in handy. And the fact that cats can play with the yarn ball.)
    - Backyard Stuff (I get quite a bit of use out of the wavy bob hair, lacy wedge shoes, and the flower string lights, wind chimes. And I also love having my sims drink the lemonade and iced tea, but that's about it. I don't really use much else from the pack. But because of the items I do use regularly get a lot of use, it'd be hard to let go of entirely.)
    - Spooky Stuff (I recently started using this pack a lot more. Especially since my Nola renovation of Willow Creek has a few voodoo inspired builds, but I don't use it as much of some of the other packs as of yet. But yet because I love Halloween, it doesn't feel fair to put it in my "let go" category.

    Could defintely let go
    - Laundry Day (I literally only bought it for CAS and a few BB items - thankfully on sale)
    - Dine Out (I actually regret buying this one more often than not and normally only use restaurants and the items so I don't feel like I wasted my money)
    - Parenthood (I only got it on sale so I could cheat the character value reward traits onto my sims and for some of the CAS/BB items. I don't play with families much at all so that whole part of gameplay is useless to me.)
    - Romantic Garden (The only thing I really use is the male CAS items and the one female hair. And occasionally the wishing well. Otherwise it doesn't get much use.)

Note: they're not necessarily ranked in order in their respective categories, I just added them as I thought of them.

Assuming I can download my favorite premades from the gallery, these would be my picks:

    Essential:
Get Together, Island Living, Snowy Escape, Uni (bikes, robotics & CAS)
Strangerville, Cool kitchen, Luxury party (I'll lose both bakeries and restaurants, so I need the buffet table)

    Let go crying eye:
    City living (scenery, basketball, karaoke)
Eco (CAS, I'd miss the gameplay too, if it were better balanced/less buggy I'd keep this pack)
Cats & Dogs (I'd download stationary cc cats & dogs again, but losing Brindleton Bay would hurt)
    GTW (Sixam, detective career)

Outdoor retreat, Batuu and Jungle Adventures

Holiday pack, Laundry, Paranormal, Backyard, Romantic Garden, Toddlers, Spooky

    Let go easily:
    Vampires, Spa Day, Parenthood
Fitness, Moschino, Movie, Bowling, Kids room, Perfect patio, First Pet, Vintage

    Never owned:
    Seasons, Magic, Tiny, Knitting

I don't own everything, but from those that I do, I could be able to live without Get to Work, Strangerville (though I would miss the careers that came with them) and some stuff packs. Everything else is essential and used in everyday basis.

Expansions - I could not give up Seasons, Get Together or Get to Work, I don't think.
I could get by without University because I just got it and haven't gotten attached to anything but the CAS yet. I don't have Snowy Escape. Pretty sure I could live without Eco Lifestyle, though I do enjoy parts of it. I could lose Island Living if I have to, because it is a little like a separate area and not necessary for every save. Most of the other expansion packs I use parts of in several families and in several worlds, so I don't think I'd want to give them up.

Game packs - I'm not giving up Dine Out or Vampires for certain.
I could give up Outdoor Retreat, after completing the bug collection so that I can say I've done everything there is to do there. I could probably go without RoM for a while, since that's not my favorite occult, but only if I could get it back later because I still have so much of it to explore. For the most part I need my game packs though. Even spa day where I really only use the yoga regularly... I don't want to give the yoga up!
Edit: I forgot JtB, I only bought that to play with my granddaughter and now we can't really even do that because the aliens are bugged so I could easily give that one a long break.

Stuff packs - I would definitely keep movies and bowling because I don't want to give up activities for my sims. Also I don't think I'd give up my toddler playgrounds or play dates. And Moschino, I need my portraits and I don't use mods.
I could give up Cool Kitchen, I almost never use ice cream. And Vintage Glamour because I rarely use the items and could live without the CAS even though I like some of it for formal wear. And I could give up Laundry Day... I only bought that on sale and I only really use the CAS outside of my off the grid households, which I wouldn't have after giving up IL and EL. I don't have any plans to own Tiny Living and currently plan to buy NK and Paranormal with birthday money later this year but could put it off if necessary.

I actually just yesterday re-installed my game and uninstalled a couple of packs :) I've had a feeling of being overwhelmed by the content with all the packs and try to find a new sense of joy playing with a different set-up of DLCs.

My choice of uninstalled packs were Get Famous, Cats & Dogs, Realm of Magic and Bowling Night Stuff. I like Get Famous a lot but have found out that I easily end up playing less with the earlier packs and it's not something I'd like to do so ended up uninstalling. Cats and dogs make my computer laggy even though Brindeton Bay has a beautiful scenery. Realm of Magic I haven't played even a little bit so uninstalled it for now and Bowling just feels completely unnecessary in my game.

The DLCs that I find mandatory are Seasons, City Living, Vampires, Outdoor Retreat and Spa Day. Seasons give the whole game a new perspective and City Living gives the game a variety that I feel is mandatory for making the game vibrant. I also like the karaoke and the city is beautiful - I think Myshuno Meadows is the most visited community lot in my entire game. I love vampires and how it can change the game entirely without a warning. Outdoor and Spa Day both have ASMR and make the game more enjoyable and relaxing.

Ugh... This is hard. I guess I could go without most of the SPs. I have laundry in every household I play, so Laundry Day would have to stay, obviously, as would Paranormal and Nifty Knitting because I like them, but the rest are fair game.

Of the GPs, the first ones I'd throw out would be Dine Out and Outdoor Retreat, my least favourite ones that barely impact my game. I could also live without Parenthood, objectively a pretty great pack, but I don't consider myself a family player, and Spa Day would be the next to go. StrangerVille would hurt a little more, it was my favourite GP back when it came out, but after playing through the story a couple of times and the novelty wearing off, I'm only using it for the world and the military career these days, and those aren't essential. What I can't go without is the occult stuff, so Realm of Magic, Vampires and even Jungle Adventure absolutely have to stay. I don't own Journey to Batuu, nor am I planning on getting it, so that one can stay where it is: Not on my PC.

Now on to the EPs... The one I'd miss the least is City Living, I'm just not a fan of big cities, but San Myshuno with all its quirks and festivals pretty much is the entire content of the pack, except for the CAS and BB items which are too colourful for my taste. Next: Get Together and Cats & Dogs, pretty-looking world and pets, respectively, but hardly any gameplay. Island Living is basically City Living on an island. Maybe I could make a deal with the devil and keep Get Famous, but with Sulani as its world instead of Del Sol Valley, and while we're at it, I'm also keeping Eco Lifestyle, but with Windenburg instead of Evergreen Harbor. Not sure about Discover University, but Snowy Escape, despite all its flaws that I recently ranted about, isn't going anywhere, and in no alternate universe would I ever let go of Seasons.

Hope it's not too late to give this thread a bump. I don't have all of the packs, some I am probably getting later, some I am uninterested in, like supernatural stuff. But if I had to choose just the ones I absolutely can't play without, I'd choose:

    Eps:
    • Get together: I love the world and the BB items so much. And the gameplay is amazing, giving so many possibilities for gatherings (especially with the Custom clubs activities mod). Would not play without it!
    • City Living: So many new BB items, apartments and festivals. I live in a big city, so this is a must DLC for me.
    • Eco Lifestyle: So much to do. I like the NAPs (with NPC voting off :D), saving on bills and living ecologically, recycling - all so much fun. I love building container houses and living off the grid with own power and water sources.
    • Seasons: Ties so nicely to all the packs and the calendar is a must, with planning events and holidays.
    • Cats and Dogs: Should be a base game feature. Pets are such an integral part of life.

    Game Packs:
I actually don't own any. I might get Parenthood down the road, but all in all I am not interested in any of the others.

    Stuff Packs:
    • Tiny Living - 100% up my alley, I love tiny builds and the furniture and color scheme is absolutely perfect. I'd say I use the items in each of my builds.
    • Laundry Day Stuff - I like the gameplay on this. The idea of having to make sure the laundry is done is super realistic.

I didn't include University in the Eps, even though all my Sims get a degree. But I think TS4 University is just bunch of rabbit-holes. TS3 University was so full of activities and actual University lifestyle, that I just can't bring myself to appreciate TS4 DU enough.

I'm feeling rather concerned now. I have just 50% of all DLC. I downloaded GTW yesterday and got a message that memory was low. I own a high-end laptop that takes seconds with loading screens.

Don't have all the packs, but much of the expansions. First to go is Dine Out, absolutely see why simmers love it, but it just isn't much used for me. The expansions to always stay, Seasons, Get Together. The game packs to stay, Parent, Fitness, think fitness is a game pack, life saver for me. Stuff packs to stay, bold opinion, Spooky, one of my only stuff packs, and the apple of my eye. Don't have any kits.
  • SaveirxSaveirx Posts: 29 Member
    Here's what I would keep.
    Expansion Packs:
    City Living
    Cats & Dogs
    Seasons
    Get To Work
    Get Together
    Game Packs:
    Vampires (It's my favorite pack)
    Realm of Magic
    Parenthood
    Stuff Packs:
    Toddler
    Paranormal
    Tiny Living
    Kids Room
But I really don't think I'd have as fun of a game if I lost the others.
