    Are there any more buy-premium-item-get-set-free-on-DD deals?

    I once purchased the little chicken coop at the Sims 3 Store with some SimPoints, then recently found out that the whole Country Living set was put on sale for a Daily Deal (via the Game Launcher). I went to the Sims 3 Store and noticed that I could just download the set. Later, I found out that all owners of the chicken coop premium content would also get the Country Living set for free, if the set were put up for a Daily Deal.

    Another positive event was when I got Barnacle Bay. At the time, I only had one pirate dress and a cannon object from the Barnacle Bay world/set. Then one day, I could just download the whole set for free. The Sims3Pack file was called BarnacleBayDDSet, so it might have been through the Daily Deal?

    This is awesome and great for completing whole sets!!!

    Are there any more deals like this?

      The concept here is that most store sets are eligible for Complete Your Set, where you get credit for the total value of the items you own within a given set. To set the CYS price, the value of the items you own is subtracted from the current price of the set, and the result is multiplied by .9. (The multiplier becomes .8 if you own more than half the set.) But if you own items worth more than the cost of their set, the whole set is free; this applies even to Daily Deal prices. With the chicken coop, it costs more than the DD price of the Country Living set, so when the set was on the DD, you could buy it for free.

      When a premium item is not on sale, either through the DD or in general, it's cheaper to buy the whole set, or buy other non-premium items on sale and then get the set, rather than paying full price for the premium content. As an example, I'm not sure whether Grandpa's Grove is eligible for CYS, but it's on sale for 475 points, making it a lot cheaper to buy the set itself rather than getting the tractor (733 points) and waiting for the set to be free on the DD.

      There are a few other cases where you can buy a premium item on sale and then get its set for free:

      The major one involves the basketball hoop. Buy it on sale for 130 points, then get the Level Up collection for free on the Daily Deal, then get the Man Cave Compilation for free as well.

      The basketball hoop shows up on the DD a couple other times before then, for more points, but since you'll be waiting for the Level Up collection anyway, you don't gain anything by buying it early.

      The other sets the machine belongs to are not eligible for Complete Your Set though. The store has a few other non-CYS sets as well, so double-check before you buy anything.

      Buying the baby swing for its normal sale price makes a larger toddler collection free, but if you like kids' items, there's a slightly more expensive way to get a much larger pile of content that includes these items.

      However, if you're looking to get the entire Best of 2012 collection or have already made progress towards it, there may be a cheaper approach than getting this set. If you're interested in the collection, just list the items (if any) you already own, and someone can help you figure out the cheapest way to get the rest of the set.

      I have recently purchased the Grandpa's Grove Tractor for 733 SimPoints and used the leftover SimPoints to get the Solace Snugabunny Deluxe Baby Swing for 265 SimPoints. One will be great for farming, I'm sure. The other one will be a lifesaver for my daycare professionals!

      I already own the SwiftGro Gardening Station, and apparently, the greenhouse set is also included in the package with the gardening station. Awesome! They actually come together in one piece. Similarly, the Grandpa's Grove Tractor package comes with the orange trees. Yea! I think I'm going to wait for a DD sale, so I can get the rest of the set for free.

      @waterywatermelon - Just wondering if you have seen the schedule for when items and sets go on sale on the DD? Our DD thread links to our DD spreadsheet which gives the expected date and time the items will go on sale. For sets and items that are offered more than once on the DD, the spreadsheet identifies which is the best deal.

      @Me1620 No, I haven't seen it yet. I will so that I can keep track of the days. Didn't know it's on a schedule. This makes me so happy. Now, I just have to mark my calendars and let it remind me instead of me trying to check The Sims official website every once in a while. Haha.

      I'm curious whether Grandpa's Grove and the greenhouse are eligible for CYS, because some venues are not. Regardless, once you've bought the greenhouse, check the CYS cost of the Best of 2012 set, which will apparently be a lot lower than it should be based on the cost of the greenhouse. You could probably buy just one more item on the DD to make the set free.

      Once you own Best of 2012, the January and April 2012 compilations should be cheap too.

      @puzzlezaddict The Stones Throw Greenhouse is not available for Complete Your Set discount at this time. Price: 1,710 SimPoints

      I already own the SwiftGro Gardening Station, which actually comes with the Greenhouse set. There is no venue, of course, but I can always build my own venue lots. So... that's good enough for me.

      Plus, I've heard that the Greenhouse venue lot has a lot of spawners, and those spawners can potentially cause tremendous lagging in the game.

      Spawners can be removed with mods, and also with some mild cheating, so that's not a big deal. If you do want the greenhouse at some point, buy it on sale and see how that impacts CYS for Best of 2012. Or you might be able to get the compilation for cheaper using a different approach, since the gardening station will count towards that CYS.

      getting the tractor (733 points) and waiting for the set to be free on the DD.

      Grandpa's Grove is on the DD right now, but the set is not free. Maybe I should wait for a later date?

      @Coriandre Well, it is now March 2nd, 2021, and the Daily Deal price is 475 SimPoints for me. Still not free. I already paid 733 SimPoints for the tractor and harvestables. So, I'm not paying another 475 SimPoints just for Grandpa's Grove venue/set. It's just a couple of country-themed stuff anyway, so it's no big deal.

      Besides, I already got my Farm Fresh Folk set and Country Livin' set free on the Daily Deals.

      Grandpa’s Grove is not CYS eligible. That is why the price did not change.
