When you suddenly have some quite spiffy ideas on how to decorate your own house. In Real Life.
Honestly, I suddenly had ideas on what kind of rug I want, I bought some new throw pillows and plants x'D
...you cry over your lost saves . I've had this happened to me before recently with my first sims 4 families. I didn't get to recover them in time, so they're all gone, trapped away on an old laptop of mine that I'm still keeping to this day 😅.
When as a photographer; you have a third of your secondary hard-drive taken up by your photos that you've done in your career...and as a Sims 3 player, the other two-thirds of your hard-drive are taken up by the screenshots taken in game. I have one folder (of one specific game-save) that has totals of screencaps of over 1500 images.
Time to get a 4TB HDD.

Wait a minute. What?! There's a Sims 4, is that what some of you are trying to say? When in the world did that happen, I must have missed the memo and thought it was just some kind of rumor. Someone needs to tell me these things...
I'd hate to think what my number of hours would be like if I had started playing in 2009 when Sims 3 first came out. I'd probably be hitting 27K hrs by now.
Started playing in 2017... after a severe bout of pneumonia (read that as near-fatal) - my wife got tired of my whining about "nothing to do" (since I'm male and schtupid, I tend to whine...when I'm sick) so gave me her Sims 3 disc (it was a pre-2012 disc - not tied to Origin) and told me to quit bugging her.

@Nikkei_Simmer - I just got off the phone with the Simsoholic Anomalous Hotline where we had a discussion about your usage patterns given the updated information. You know, that still averages out to less than 8 hours per day. Your classifications as a "light, occasional user" of Sims products and "mostly harmless" have not changed since the last time we went through this exercise.
When you make your sim's spouse/the sim cheat, and you genuinely feel bad for them. Like, you made them do it, but you still are like "Huh? How did this happen? Oh well, time to start more drama."
When your friend brags about binge watching all three seasons of Stranger Things in one weekend and you think to yourself, 'Amateur. I played Sims 3 for twice that long."
When you are being fitted for a fantastic new pair of eyeglasses (this is extra fun with a mask on!) and it takes a bit longer than expected because they have to keep making adjustments for one ear apparently being lower than the other, and you feel the need to explain the benefits of asymmetric custom CAS sliders and the mods that allow them to mutate their settings ever so slightly to achieve such natural looking variations throughout generations of sims.
But you stop yourself just in time, because the odds are that particular conversation isn't likely to go very far in that setting.
Then there's the shock and horror of finally being able to see what everyone around you really looks like, but that's another story and fortunately not as relevant for forums like this one.
When you find this: https://www.simsrealestate.ca/ and think OH Great, I can find new buildings and stuff for my Sims 3 game. WHOOOPS! It's real real estate on Vancouver Island. D'oh... maybe when my wife and I really retire and decide whether or not we can find property on the Island to buy in real life.

Awesome site! I wonder if anyone has ever complained to them that they are out of their minds, expecting clients to pay over $600,000 CAD for a digital sim house...sheesh, and they say the TS3 Store is expensive!

Hmmmm. Is that addiction or is that actually procrastination? 😆
When you look at this picture...
...and recognize the similarity between that toilet and yours...since you've been playing TOO much sims.
