Hi I have noticed simmers are uploading rooms to the gallery with raised or lowered platform's, does anyone know how they do this? I cant click on a room with platform as a complete room! Thanks for reading this
Btw I managed to do 1 room but I had to have the platform away from the walls any ideas about this please.

Hoping for some answer on this too. I was working on a wonderful room with a bed on a platform and the platform isn't a part of the room. I wept.
I just want to add A TIP.... for those who are creating a Snow Globe for Sparkd challenge. The Get Famous Pack has a 'Special Effects Machine' that goes on ceiling height and there are a lot of choices to chose including Snow, bubbles, ash, money, sparkles and more Its great to hide in a tree for example or just to use over a dance floor as I have. I hope this is of use.

You get a Sim to click on it in live mode for the effect you want.
I have written down some Lot Prices from different World's and these are really cheap for starter's, I hope useful information.
Strangerville $450 caravan park
Evergreen Harbor $750
Britechester $1,000 pink trees behind.
Oasis Springs 1,500 3 Lots at that price
Brindleton Bay $1,000 on Docks
Del Sol Valley $0 where Ward Park is.
Windenburg 1,500 4 Lots that price.
Mt.Komorebi $800 2 Lots. $1,000 and $2,000 Lots
It's SO easy to forget Ladder tools. But don't! The nice thing about ladders is not only do they save space, they keep your pets and toddlers from running amok all over the house. So if you have a five storey house, you can keep your pets to three storeys - or one!
Ladders are so much smaller, so they make things easier to hide - like the room hiding your seven dead wives in the basement. Or the only toilet in a seven-storey house.
Did you know you can place a ladder outside of walls? Why make a hole in the floor when you can use that extra space for your eighth wife?

I hope it's ok for me to post this here, I use a bunch of 'out of the box' building tricks and include links to download (and deconstruct) as well as an explanation on most of the techniques used. I try to keep the very first post of the thread updated with links to the comments containing the important information and explanation.

Your builds are very creative! @DeanXeL It would be very helpful to simmers to look at your thread and read about your build techniques and explanations.
Please excuse me if this is not the right place to ask this question - although I'm officially an "ancient" member, I haven't posted very often! I'm trying to build a house on a foundation with an attached garage (obviously non-functional!) and this involves using alt 0 and 9 to raise and lower objects. Unfortunately, I'm finding that, whenever I try to use 9 - whether with alt or on its own - it shoots my object up to the next floor! Have you any idea what I might be doing wrong?

which floor level are you on? you might have clicked the up arrow in the top right which sends you to the next floor. in easier ways, where is your grid? is it just above the foundation, where the ground floor is? or is it above that, on the upstairs? i've done it before, and usually simply clicking the down arrow fixes it. hope this helps

@Vivendaport48 I believe the answer to your question could be very simple, however, I am not sure. Are you using the keypad to do this or the numbers on top of your keyboard, above the letters? For me, whenever I use the keypad, the 9 functions as pgup and hence, increases the floor level. I have to use the numbers on the top of my keyboard. I have also encountered some other discrepancies with using an azerty keyboard, not all keybinds are as expected
I've just recently started building and here's my first doubt: when two roofs intersect each other, that intersection can be seen and it's not a very pleasent thing to see. How do you do it so that you "hide" those intersections?
@texxx78 don't be afraid to create a new thread in the forums for questions like these, they might get more response that way. However, can you show what you mean by 'intersect'? Maybe a picture uploaded on imgur?
In general, they can blend perfectly if you get the height and shape just right:
- use alt + drag on the height to 'freeplace' it. It will no longer snap to predetermined heights that way. (I sometimes have to hold alt and press shift for it to get to work, but it works.
- click the roof and use shift + c to add another level of shape (added bending point) in your roof, it might make blending them easier.
- Use a small trim, the bigger ones tend to show on the intersections, unless that is your goal of course!

Thank you so much @DeanXeL !! I can't upload a pic now cause i'm in my phone and won't be around my pc for a while but i think you've fullfilled my request i didn't know about those keyboard tips!
I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this but I'm have an issue with configurable stairs. I have placed stairs in a three by two tile area and they kind of spiral up three times. I feel like they should work but for some reason the sim is not able to use them. I will try to post a picture.https://imgur.com/a/8gt5tUB

Hello @rachluvsdave
I am sorry that you are having issues with the stairs. You may like to start your own thread in this section of the forums, and builder simmers can then post there to try to help you.
GROWING TREES INDOORS and other gardening tips... There maybe some players not familiar with this so I though I'd pass it on. You can have a perfect garden indoors year round, including trees. If you attempt to plant a tree indoors in a typical build design the game won't allow you because a tree won't grow under a ceiling. Here's how you get around that. You start by walling off 2 levels in your basement so they become useable rooms. Add stairs. On the first floor, create a wall all the way across the basement on one end (maybe 15 squares for extra space), which results in a 2nd room. In that 2nd room you created, delete the floor. Then go down to the 2nd floor and plant your trees under where the ceiling was deleted. A couple of tips.... I've read that if you get the Green Thumb reward, your plants will never die (unless you don't take care of them). I am finding this to be true. I have perfect plants. Periodically my perfect plants will disappear leaving the seed behind for me tend to. When they grow back they are still Perfect.
Money Tree seeds can be bought for 5,000 satisfaction points. When they are perfect they yield 31,000 maybe 3 times in a Sim week. I've read that if you move a Money Tree that is ready for harvest into your inventory it will produce more seeds. I did not do this but somehow 50 more seeds showed up in my inventory. So, to summarize, you can have a perfect garden that grows indoors year round, including all the trees. Again, with the Green Thumb reward, perfect plants never die.
With Bees your plants will evolve much faster. You also get the benefit of honey and bee's wax. I'm thinking the bee's wax can be used for candle making but that unconfirmed because I've not gotten into that yet. I don't eat the honey. I don't remember how many jars I had, but I just sold a stack for 380,000. You don't need as many bees as I have in my screenshot linked below. Bees will have a beneficial affect on plants within 5 squares, in build mode, in any direction. You do have to tend to them as they get mites and you bond with them which they like. Your sim will stung but only gets a negative moodlet for a very short period of time.
The best fertilizer in the game is Growfruit and fish. You can obtain Growfruit in rare seed packets available at level 10. I got lucky and got one fishing. If you do fish, put your fish in the refrigerator when you get home or they will go foul. Then put them back in your inventory, available in live mode, to use as bait when you go back out.
Gardening is very time consuming. If you just want to do it for money, the best money makers are the Money Tree (obvious), Death Flower ($240), DragonFruit ($250), and the Orchid ($225). These are all available in rare seed packets One a side note, you can trade a Death Flower to the Grim Reaper for your life. I haven't tried this yet, but you are supposed to use the Death Flower in a Ambrosia recipe to resurrect ghost Sims.
This was probably info that most of you know, but hope this was helpful to someone. :-)
