    Thank you so much @DeanXeL @seaben & @Pinkusfamily 😊😊😊

Modern is really isn’t my comfort zone, but it’s what I felt like this time - it’s fun to mix it up isn’t it? :)
  • seabenseaben Posts: 631 Member
Yes it is fun to mix things up just wondering what style of house would you consider your comfort zone @AliSim19

@seaben Oh my gosh, you made me think - I do love building cottages, but I asked my very blunt 13 year old what she thought I should say and she rolled with laughter and said β€˜anything but modern!’ :D I like to mix it up but I really struggle with the roofing on modern builds so I tend to shy away from them....and my attempts at making flat roofs interesting are always pretty disastrous (β€˜so dire I can’t even speak’ was her comment on the last flat roof I tried....and she was right :D )

@EleneK Dont worry, you scraped in before the challenge closed banner so all that hard work wasn’t wasted! :) Love your converted church idea, look forward to seeing the whole slideshow!

@AliSim19 thanks for the lovely comments. I love your build especially the kitchen and the way you did stairs (with platforms?). The suspended fireplace and the wall tile in the copper are also gorgeous (are they eco lifestyle things - I don't have that pack). Modern is my favourite style and I try and challenge myself to move away from it. I think a lot is what you see in real life - so many of the American styles of architecture are things I have never seen so I am slowly learning what features are expected - while I am surrounded by plenty of (boringly similar) modern builds.

@Clousinators I want to live in your house <3
  • EleneKEleneK Posts: 142 Member
@Clousinators: I thought I went overboard on the windows. My family rents a beach house for a week every summer. The things you mentioned about no computer and the game room upstairs reminded me of the house we had this past summer. Because it is so true.

@AliSim19 Thank you! I took soooo many photos trying to get ones with the perfect angle lol
    @Becka28 Honestly, me too lol
@EleneK Thank you! I was trying to make it as relaxing and intimate as possible (its how I would like a real life vacation to be lol)

"Come in," you call out when you hear a knock on the door.
You look up from the blueprints you were checking as the door opens and people start pouring into your office. You greet them and lead them over to the conference room so everyone can have a seat.
"Hello," the man says crisply. "I am Dan Bradley. And this beautiful lady is my bride-to-be, Agatha Hornsby." The woman flutters her fingers at you. "These three boys are mine. Henry is 15, Harold is 10, and Robbie is 6. Agatha's three girls are Katie, aged 14: Sherry is 9; and Mindy is 5. And this is our maid, Beatrice Woolworth."
You smile and nod at everyone.
"We are getting married next month," Mr. Bradley continues, "and we have decided to move into Agatha's house in Willow Creek. The problem is that the house only has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Obviously, seven people need more in the way of space. We need a master bedroom with an ensuite. Beatrice needs her own bedroom and bathroom. All of the girls can share one bedroom, and all the boys can share another bedroom. We will need two more bathrooms for the kids, and a powder room on the main floor for guests. And all the usual rooms: a kitchen, a living room, a study, and a laundry room. A place to grill outside, and a place for the kids to play."
Agatha speaks up. "I love the look of my home, so can you keep the style of the house the same as much as possible? You can use any pieces of furniture from the house. Feel free to paint anything you wish to."
"Okay," you say, scanning your notes. "I just need to know the budget and the address."
"With our savings and the cash wedding presents, we have $70,000," Mr. Bradley says.
Agatha hands you the address on a sheet of paper. (Riverside Roost in Willow Creek valued at $41,704 currently)
"That sounds great! I can certainly have that ready for you to move in by the end of this month," you say cheerily. "And congratulations on your wedding!"
    The Brief:
    *due 28th February, 2021
*your budget is $70,000 over the current cost of the lot.
*remodel the current house on the lot to include the following:
*a master bedroom with en suite.
*a bedroom and bathroom for Beatrice.
*a bedroom for the girls and another for the boys.
*2 bathrooms for the kids to use and a powder room on the first floor.
*a kitchen, a living room, a study, and a laundry room.
*a grilling area and a play area outside.
    *landscape the lot.
*keep the style of the house.
*use anything from the house. You may β€œpaint” any object in the house currently to use for the remodel.

    The Sims Challenge:
*create the Bradley Bunch, excluding Beatrice.
*show their clothing choices and them in their new home.
    *include aspirations, traits and skills.

    The Room Challenge:
*Create one of the kids' rooms-either for the boys OR the girls.
    *The budget is $20,000.

The deadline for this challenge is Sunday, February 28th, 2021, no later than 23:59:59 EST/New York Time.

Another exciting challenge! I'm confused about the BNS number (235?) and which house we're supposed to be renovating. Do you mean the original sims 4 house that came with the lot originally?

Do we have to reuse everything in the house? or are we free to sell and purchase new things? I.E are we allowed to sell the cabinets/appliances to get new ones? sell the rugs, old tv?

Also there are several definitions of powder room - what exactly do you expect from a powder room?

Sorry for any confusion. The image has been fixed. Yes, the original house on the Riverside Roost lot is meant to be renovated. If you've replaced it, you can start a fresh save to get it back.

Yes, you can replace everything you want, just keep the exterior style of the house.

Just a basic small room is fine - only needs a toilet and sink. Anything else is up to you and what fits the budget.

@BuildnShare , Can the home be made wider ? ( Bigger ) but keeping the same facade...
    Upstairs & down ?

    Thanks,

    Diane Pinkus ;)

wait, we have to keep the same facade? are we not allowed to give it a fresh coat of paint? i don't mean changing the siding to brick or wood, but changing the paint swatch, from yellow, to another color?

It's a pretty narrow lot to begin with, but if you think you can widen it while still leaving some outdoor space, go for it.

Of course you can paint it. You just have to keep the style, not the color. Change the columns and fances too if you like.

Is it allowed to place an only front door?
Right now the house has 2 front doors, and I think that is not necessary and confusing.
    Thank you in advance.
