https://www.patreon.com/posts/45100711 This one stops sims from autonomously cooking, but they can still autonomously bake or grill instead. I've noticed them grabbing leftovers much more often with this mod in, and if you leave food out, they will also have a much higher chance at grabbing them.
So, what I do is use this mod and have a platter of food out, leftovers in the fridge, and no grill. It works fine for now, at least until the bug is fixed.

LittleMsSam has a new mod that makes sims choose leftovers if there are leftovers in the fridge. I just downloaded it last night and it's the best thing that happened to my game since Snowy Escape released.
@Sharonia : same here, prior to the mod my sims would end up ether baking or cooking food despite the fact there are leftovers already in the fridge to begin with. This is a bug that seriously needs to be looked at.
