not-usual townies showing up in Sunset Valley before playing

Hello, I loaded a new save with Sunset Valley, went to edit town straight away (didn't play for a second) and I saw something...Weird. Certain houses or lots that normally don't have any sims on them, were suddenly inhabited. I never, ever saw these sims before (their last names ring a very big tower bell though)

As some live in lots where they should live, aka the stylist station and other commercial lots, I thought thye were the sims that are supposed to work there. But they don't all do, some live on completely residential lots and some names are called 'ghosts', which makes me think that they are the sims that are actually Sunset Valley's ghost. It wxould make sense because of the names. But why would they be put in households to live in the world? Maybe it is because of MC or SP, but I've had both for quite a while and it's the first time I see this happen.

These are the households:

And here live some more, again, some of them called 'xxxghosts'

Do you use NRaas Traveler? Were you playing a game before this, then did you exit to the main menu, then create a new save in Sunset Valley? Or did you create this save after launching from the desktop?

I ask because TS3 doesn't clear out all memory when you exit a save to the main menu. The NRaas Traveler mod can cause effects similar to what you describe because of this behavior. (The solution is to always quit the game to the desktop before starting a new one; I'm not sure if switching to an existing save is also problematic - I never do either.)

That's the only explanation I can think of. If you quit to the desktop, launch TS3, and create a new save in Sunset Valley, do you still those extra households?

I did, yes, but it still wouldn't make sense? These sims aren't from that save or something.

And probably not but I'm not gonna try it as I already started playing and sims takes a while to start up. I can't just quit the game and load it again to test hosueholds that don't really bother me extremely. I came to the conclusion by the way these are in fact the sunset valley ghosts: the darling household is Agnes Crumblebottom's deceased husband.

A game that has been loaded or started up from the Main Menu without quitting all the way to the Desktop first (or Origin if on 1.69) will have a chance of doing this and will have a chance of becoming corrupt/unplayable after a while. Traveler doesn't technically cause the issue, it's an EA glitch that RAM is not being cleared between world loadups within the same game session, but Traveler certainly makes it more likely to happen and be harmful to that ongoing save.

I know this isn't exactly what you are saying here, but we've heard the argument that players just couldn't be bothered to quit the game entirely before loading up a different world before and they insist that they will keep doing it their way. We wish them luck and say goodbye essentially, or suggest that they find a way to play without Traveler then. :/

Don't worry, I closed my game. It beign the ghosts would ruin the game anyway, there aren't any ghosts left at the graveyard.

That happened to me while I was looking through worlds for houses to save to the library and add to a CAW town. Since I wasn't opening the worlds to play, I returned to the main menu each time I finished in one world. Every single world I opened after closing the first one had all of the town's ghosts placed in houses as residents. I didn't know at first that they were all ghosts, but I saved the households from the first time it happened, and placed them in my build & edit town. Then once I knew their names, I looked up the world where I had found them on the wiki, and sure enough, they were all the ghosts from that town.

@BeyzaK - What was being described and illustrated here with the ghosts living among everyone else unexpectedly is a side-effect of starting up a new game or launching an existing one from the Main Menu without having quit all the way to the desktop (or Origin if relevant) after a prior game session. Our advice remains, don't do that no matter how inconvenient it is to quit TS3 all the way before playing a different world or saved game.

NRaas MasterController and StoryProgression have nothing to do with this, it can happen to any player with or without mods. NRaas Traveler is known to make it more likely to happen.
