So I just tackled some minor dust in one of my closets (in my defense, I haven't moved that box in years. Uh, that might not be a defense) and I thought I'd come chasing after the dust bunnies in here, too.

About a week ago, I dusted off an old game and loaded it on my ancient laptop. I am restarting my quests in Sims Medieval. I have to play the original unpatched game. After I let the game update to the last version, the game won't open. My laptop, while old, has been upgraded to Windows 10. So far, it is playing well. If I encounter problems, I may have to dust off my Windows 7 CPU and see if the game is still loaded on that.

@emilyofspielburg - In addition, to using rnramey wonderful posts, I was wondering if you use the DD spreadsheet for long-term planning or if you have looked at LadybugLeslie's and Merelhyn's threads to help get the most value for your simpoints.
Currently, the DD spreadsheet lists the deals until March 31, 2021. You mention you wanted to see the chicken coop on sale. From the Venue/PC sheet of the DD spreadsheet, I am sorry to tell you it is not on the Daily Deal list. The coop is also not offered on the Weekly Sales page which has not been updated since 2016. You might try your luck on the Make Me an Offer machine. In my opinion, the best option to getting the chicken coop, which is available in Country Livin' set and in the April 2013 Compilation, is to follow Merelhyn's steps for getting County Livin' or April 2013 Compilation.
According to Merelhyn's, Country Livin' can be purchased for 261 simpoints and the April 2013 Complilation can be purchased for 916 simpoints. (The chicken Coop is 456 simpoints.)

Oh boy, whenever I find the old computer games I used to have, I usually have to try them on my current computer (to varying results). Some of the games and programs just laugh at me when I try them. Sometimes I can resist, though. I recently found Myst (the 1995 disc) and didn't bother trying it out because they have updated versions available. I did feel old when I looked at the disc, though. What's really weird is when I find the 3.5-inch "floppy discs" that were such high tech when I was a kid (well, not really. But they were everywhere). I think I finally got rid of/gave away the last of them last summer, though I swear I keep finding random ones in old boxes. What do I even do with those? Computers haven't had a floppy drive in ages (ages and ages...ah, the dial-up modem, and let's not forget AOL's "You've got mail!"). Okay, I am stepping out of the wayback machine.
I haven't tried Sims Medieval. It seemed like it was more difficult to find by the time I was done with the SPs and EPs, so I just sort of gave up. I hope it works smoothly for you!

@Greylady624 Ah, Myst. Although, I had no idea it was that old. My ex-husband and I played that, but we didn't meet until 1998. On AOL!!!! That must have been right on the cusp of broadband because I don't remember using dial up after we'd moved in together. But I was definitely listening to those lovely modem tones in '98!
I actually have Sims Medieval in my Origin account. It is only the base game, but it is there. I haven't tried installing the disc version that I know I still have with my TS3 discs.
My latest flashback is the King's Quest series. You want to talk about floppy discs! I think it was KQ4 that I actually owned back in the day. I'm pretty sure it came on 12 discs! But that is nothing compared to the 20 or so discs that WordPerfect 5 came on.
MS has released an omnibus of all of the KQ titles on XBox, most with updated graphics. The only down side to that is you don't get the full nostalgia of seeing the graphics that seemed so amazing at the time in their now retro 16 and 32 bit glory.

Do you regularly look at the main page or product page of the sets to see if you have a green download button? After you buy an item, do you check all the sets it is included in to see if your CYS discount has been activated?

@Greylady624 - LOL. There are a few dust bunnies hopping around in my closets too.
About a week ago, I dusted off an old game and loaded it on my ancient laptop. I am restarting my quests in Sims Medieval. I have to play the original unpatched game. After I let the game update to the last version, the game won't open. My laptop, while old, has been upgraded to Windows 10. So far, it is playing well. If I encounter problems, I may have to dust off my Windows 7 CPU and see if the game is still loaded on that.
@emilyofspielburg - In addition, to using rnramey wonderful posts, I was wondering if you use the DD spreadsheet for long-term planning or if you have looked at LadybugLeslie's and Merelhyn's threads to help get the most value for your simpoints.
Currently, the DD spreadsheet lists the deals until March 31, 2021. You mention you wanted to see the chicken coop on sale. From the Venue/PC sheet of the DD spreadsheet, I am sorry to tell you it is not on the Daily Deal list. The coop is also not offered on the Weekly Sales page which has not been updated since 2016. You might try your luck on the Make Me an Offer machine. In my opinion, the best option to getting the chicken coop, which is available in Country Livin' set and in the April 2013 Compilation, is to follow Merelhyn's steps for getting County Livin' or April 2013 Compilation.
According to Merelhyn's, Country Livin' can be purchased for 261 simpoints and the April 2013 Complilation can be purchased for 916 simpoints. (The chicken Coop is 456 simpoints.)

Oh boy, whenever I find the old computer games I used to have, I usually have to try them on my current computer (to varying results). Some of the games and programs just laugh at me when I try them. Sometimes I can resist, though. I recently found Myst (the 1995 disc) and didn't bother trying it out because they have updated versions available. I did feel old when I looked at the disc, though. What's really weird is when I find the 3.5-inch "floppy discs" that were such high tech when I was a kid (well, not really. But they were everywhere). I think I finally got rid of/gave away the last of them last summer, though I swear I keep finding random ones in old boxes. What do I even do with those? Computers haven't had a floppy drive in ages (ages and ages...ah, the dial-up modem, and let's not forget AOL's "You've got mail!"). Okay, I am stepping out of the wayback machine.
I haven't tried Sims Medieval. It seemed like it was more difficult to find by the time I was done with the SPs and EPs, so I just sort of gave up. I hope it works smoothly for you!
Well, it certainly helped me put things in perspective. It's a lot of fun mentally checking off what you own/need.

I actually have Sims Medieval in my Origin account. It is only the base game, but it is there. I haven't tried installing the disc version that I know I still have with my TS3 discs.
My latest flashback is the King's Quest series. You want to talk about floppy discs! I think it was KQ4 that I actually owned back in the day. I'm pretty sure it came on 12 discs! But that is nothing compared to the 20 or so discs that WordPerfect 5 came on.
MS has released an omnibus of all of the KQ titles on XBox, most with updated graphics. The only down side to that is you don't get the full nostalgia of seeing the graphics that seemed so amazing at the time in their now retro 16 and 32 bit glory.

@emilyofspielburg - I hope you do find the spreadsheet useful. I hope you take the time to enter all the information on the Set_Tracking and Items Owned sheets so that you will get notifications when your CYS discount might activate and you get the set free.
Do you regularly look at the main page or product page of the sets to see if you have a green download button? After you buy an item, do you check all the sets it is included in to see if your CYS discount has been activated?
