I hope we can use the platforms to make an in depth flat roof - if that makes sense. Sometimes putting half-walls around the top of a room looks off depending on a build.
I think the EP actually is coming with flat roofs.

I've been wondering. Will the new platforms be able to be placed between levels of a multi-storey house so there is the real-world proper thickness between floors? At the moment, around a staircase looks only paper thin.

Yes. You can place them on any lot (or roof) to give more thickness. If you have seen James Turner's YouTube on how to use platforms he shows doing all of that. (He didn't show how it interacted with stairs specifically though.)

What mods and CC are likely to break, apart from custom skin tones and makeup?
Most likely anything with UI, possibly relationships as well. CC Wall patterns may look weird on the new half-wall sizes. Maybe CC shoes with the shoe undreswsing rules.
I like the faithful trait. But I don't know about the irresistible trait. My sims are pretty irresistible already with out that trait. My sims getting hit on pretty all the time by both sex is proof in it's self of that. The one new trait that I would love to see make into the game is a glamorous trait. A glamorous trait could temporarily give a feeling beautiful buff to a sim that freshens up in a mirror.

Skin tones are coming in the December patch (Not saying that they can't break in this one, but this isn't the one where I expect them to break)
