Bad engineering. When something *could* have worked well, but it was engineered as a near-miss, when one little tweak and it could have been a good item. I have this one tea strainer with a stainless steel handle that, had it been just a bit shorter, would not have been heavy enough to tip it over when it's empty and lain across the opening of a cup. So I must steady it, or it flips over, at least until the tea leaves gather in the basket enough to counterbalance the handle. A centimeter shorter on the unnecessarily long handle, would have solved that problem, but no. *facesmack* every time I use it, I curse the manufacturer silently.

@Arkane You have probably heard/read me saying I started cooking in my teens as a matter of self-preservation? Not meaning to malign my late mother, she was more able to cook than some (she knew how to make more than hot dogs) but take that mac-n-cheese-n-tuna thing, and add KETCHUP and a few other things tossed in because it still didn't taste right (she finally gave up but we still had to eat it) and you have the most memorably bad meal of my childhood. Luckily it wasn't repeated.

Queer only having one meaning these days. Because it's such a cool and useful word in its original meaning, just like the word gay. Both were so highly nuanced and useful and now, even though one *could* use them in their original meaning, it's not expected and might come across as deliberately dismissive to the LGBTQ+ meanings. I'm queer in more than one way and just want to be able to use it both ways.
