@Beardedgeek You know what, now I remember a thread just like that. Oh well, it can be difficult to track down the culprit-CC/mod but that is what you do every time there is a patch. Why I only update the game when there is a pack I really want and it has been out for a little while.

I pull my mods, update and concentrate on building or Sim creation until my must-have mods (MCCC, UI Cheats and now Meaningful Stories) are updated. The others I can live (and play) without for the most part but they're nice to have.

So happy about this. I'm all for diversity for the Sims franchise as a whole.

Some of the current bugs for Eco Lifestyle for those that want to hit me too, hope this directory helps. I know the site can be tough to navigate, so it is a struggle for playtesters too.

Great. but why has it taken this long? they shouldn't have to be told to be inclusive. I'm not going to sit here and praise them for something that should've been in the base game 6 YEARS AGO. If it wasn't for the BLM movement and the backlash they'd have never even bothered to do it.

    Thanks but I'm bored.

Okay, well...thanks for stopping by. 👋🏻

    I actually LOL'd.

But I am extremely happy about this update. Can't wait to see all the make-up looks we'll be able to make with this. Been wanting a true dark red eyeshadow or a true dark orange one. Hopefully we'll be able to do stuff like this now!

I really hope these 100 new skin tones are also for children and toddlers and babies will still be stuck with 3 so sad. Also I'm glad to see system requirements go up with the skin tones hopefully they this means they will be high quality all of the old skin tones were horrible not just the dark ones like some like to pretend.

I highly doubt they've been able to whip this up in the 5 months BLM has been at its peak.

Of course they can. Do you seriously think they would have no screenshots for something they’ve had in the pipeline for awhile? No. Wasn’t even that long ago that the white game changers bullied the gurus into committing to this and if I had to guess not a whole lot of work got done between then and when they talked about it again in early Sept. It’s cool they’re doing it, but it reflects poorly on them what it took to actually get them to do this caliber of work.

I read the official announcement and hope people realize this is for midgrade and highend pcs.
Concerning sliders they will be adding, I have to wonder if we consider sliders like a color wheel? If we can change skin tones or makeup with sliders (tones/shades etc) isn't that the same as something like a color wheel? I hope they don't stop there and finally add these 'sliders' to everything like a full operating CASt. But it's a shame it took total outrage and sometimes bullying to get them to bring their A game. That's really sad to me. It's almost like without a political movement going on there wouldn't have been any added features such as sliders and more skintones or even sliders for makeup. Why not just listen to your core Maxis, and you wouldn't have been in such hot water with a political movement, I guess. Seems lobbying is the only thing that brings out A game. I mean six years ago I know I requested more skin tones for babies in TS4 than the lackluster three it had. But I wasn't a movement, so it didn't matter. This is my opinion, pandering isn't something I can applaud. When they had legit feedback six years ago.

Does anyone know if we will be able to change the skin color of the sims we have already without having to use cheats? Also, are they going to work a mixture of these colors into the color of baby sims (or actually toddler and up) that are born to sims?

Since we can change skin tones now, I assume yes.

This is basically the only piece of news I found looking forward to all year. 100 tones? Sliders? Fixes to those ashy splotchy disasters previously called dark skin? I may not even need my cc skin at this rate! I know Im going to be busy making over all my dark skin sims.

Babies only have about three now, so O wonder how that will work. But I don't know why the toddler and child stages wouldn't have the same skin tone they will have as an adult.
I am very curious what they'll do for the genetics though.

That's a good point actually. I wonder how well the default hair colors are going to look with the new skin tones.

Any word on the green, blue, or red skintones getting an update or sliders? Am totally aware that that is not the point of the update. I am just curious because I play a lot of fantasy Sims.

ALL skin tones gets a slider. But I wouldn't expect MORE "Alien" skin tones on top of that.

So, this is genuinely good news, and also sadly the only good news in the last year.

Now fix personalities. And I don't say that being flippant, this geninely feels like an actual HUGE step in the right direction.
(Edit: as for the "two base game hairstyles"... I assume they mean "Large Potato" and "Not large potato"?)

Which ones are large potato and not large potato?

Also glad they're improving the pale skin tones aswell. The existing ones are horrible. As someone who's really pale I can never make a simself as the pale skin tones are literally glowing. Why are they SO bright? There's way too much highlight, my forehead in real life does not glow. I always make tan sims as basically every other tone is bad.

I never use the very light skin tones because of that issue as well. Those skins reflect light like they are made of plastic or something.

The skin tone slider may help that issue; would be worth playing with to see and put in your 2 Simoleons. B)

Indeed I’m glad all skintones are getting a fix and a slider. Make this party as inclusive as possible since we’re at it.

The large afro and small afro, they have been ridiculed and hated by Simmers of color since release.

Cool! Loved this feature in Sims 3, and it shows how the devs screwed up with Sims 4. Keep this energy and overhaul personalities next so your fans don’t have to bully you into making good choices for your game again.

    :D:D lol.thats it, in a nutshell...

Lol I mean it’s true. When people were nice they got a few poor quality skin tones in return. This studio is showing us if we want a better game we have to stop being so nice about it. Let’s hope players, even while grateful for this, keep the devs under pressure for everything else this game gets wrong.

I’m not at all denying what you’re saying, but I think that it’s entirely ridiculous that fans need to stir outrage to get a good game, let alone a game which is representative of its players. It should NOT have taken six years to fix this, and require the Sim YouTubers to get involved for EA to finally push out a statement and game plan.

    Leave it to Maxis...

My only thing is I wonder how genetics would work and if babies are still gonna have those 3 swatches or they're different

The only thing I am mad about is that they could have given us sliders all this time, but they decided to do it 6 years later. If sliders are possible today they were possible when they were developing the game but they decided to do the bare minimum.
Where's my Sims 5 squad at?
