Pixelade's Speculation on The Sims 4 and The Sims 5

Pixelade has a very interesting speculation:

It does sound plausible. I mean, TS4 is lacking so much and it seems like the devs seem to go out of their way not to give simmers exactly what they ask for.

What do you guys think?

this is not even a theory in itself, to be honest it should be a fact, it is obvious that the next the sims SHOULD have all these things that were requested years from the sims 4 already in the base, I suppose it must be because anyway the image of the franchise is not very good, we agree or they get it right at once and make a the sims 3 feat 2 and 1 or they launch a limited game, with microtransitions and focused on a multiplayer with a season pass lol

I mean maybe his speculation is correct. I'm more inclined to believe that most highly requested features will find their way into the Sims 4 at some point. I mean if they're finishing development of the game sometime within the next three years, slowly releasing highly requested features over that period while continuing to release packs will keep the game relevant, probably boost sales, and ultimately make more money more efficiently compared to developing an entirely new game. I mean ideally they would give us these highly requested features sooner rather than later, but I doubt it.

Might just be wishful thinking but hey I can dream at least.

I hope EP10 is a Music-Casino Pack because Sabacc which is a card game in the Star Wars universe can be a regular Casino Gameplay.

Well he's not wrong if Sims 5 has base game stuff in it Sims 4 never gets people are going to jump right over to it. I only hope Paralives is out by that time so I never have to deal with "we listen" with no action to improve anything ever, I'm over their vision where you have to pretend everything happens as you watch robotic Sims do and react to nothing.
Sims 4 went from "You Rule" to "One of the stories we want you to tell"

I doubt it. I think the inner workings of the game just won't support a lot of things that people want. They still need to make money from Sims 4. And really, if you think we've not gotten what we've asked for the past 6 years, you'd be wrong. Its just this I WANT I WANT I WANT syndrome many, many, ALL Sim players seem to have. They want THIS and get angry when they don't get it.

The money that they are earning are not going into making the sims4, that's for sure.

It is possible that their unwillingness to make things like cars or babies that can move on their own could be because they have already made them or are planning to make them in a possible sequel. I have suspected that the reason why they are so limited when it comes to gameplay objects or "hero" items as they call them are because their senior programmers are busy working on something else.

But until they announce what they are working on I'm not going to believe that is the case.

A lot of things players want would require a new game so it makes sense. Putting an entire color wheel system and completely revamping the travel system to add cars would be massive overhauls so it would make more sense to put them into the next game instead.

I can't imagine they went into a meeting one day many years ago and decided they weren't going to add cars and other things in TS4 so that players will eventually buy TS5, especially when development teams change so often and they all want to produce a good game that will have great sales. Also, at the moment, I don't really have much faith that TS5 will indeed be amazing. They love to experiment too much.

Or maby they want you to play sims mobile? Want bunk beds? Sure you can have it in sims mobile. They put so much nice things there, but its not free, you even have to pay real money to get second floor in your house! This is perfect cow to milk for ea

It's all the poop jokes in TS4 like angry poops and Plopsy. Like as if the devs are trying to tell us that this iteration is crap, lol!

I really hope they've put more love and effort into TS5. I wish they'd announce the game soon or at least tell us what game engine it will be built on so I can get ready to mod for it.

I think TS5 will go one more step into the micro transaction direction...

So now a modder can give us a all new Sims 4 open world with amazing details like grocery stores, drive in theaters and even a airport and we continue to get useless worlds with nothing to do from the gurus this is just sad. Pixelade also has a video on it at this point its not only holding stuff back they just don't care enough to do it right.

Yeah I thought about that too.

Remember those surveys of which of the base game features should get an overhaul or improvements? It had things like relationships etc. or that survey that we could vote on which pack should get an overhaul? I think those are being used as info on what to include with the Sims 5.

I don't think that the Sims team would sit down and do a wants or relationships overhaul or even pick an expansion pack and release an improved version for free. Never. They are just gathering info for the development of the Sims 5.
Where's my Sims 5 squad at?

Ask any programmer if they would be willing to redo the framework for a product after six years and they would say "no". That would be like renovating a house by changing the foundation, they would have to rework everything.

That survey has to be for the sims5, or they are going to add some sort of relationship overhaul on top of everything else... which does not sound like a great idea.

I don't believe that they are leaving things out on purpose. I do think the base game of TS4 can't support some of what the community requests. I do expect that they've learned their lesson though and will build TS5 on a base that can support things like colour wheels, better babies, more open world. I don't think at this late stage in the game it's worth their time and breaking all of our games to add in some of these things. I still think some things will make it into TS4 yet too, they're not done yet.

Your right, lot of stuff the players ware not possible with this current game. They need a new base entirely.

I've been entertaining these thoughts for the last couple of years actually...I really hope I'm wrong

Would be on brand. Unless they want to continue the low effort, low quality trend they started with this game. I’m more inclined to believe any sequel will just build on what made Sims 4 awful. It’s easy to blame technology, but they made the game and they decided what kind of things they wanted it to support. Am I to believe things like: unique personalities, cars, terrain tools, actual babies, CAW, etc; were just not thought of when they were building the tech for this game? Of course they were and they decided they weren’t important enough. So I do think they will take some of the hot requests and use that, but most of these things boil down to the devs didn’t want to do it so it didn’t get done. I don’t think Maxis will be in any hurry to make a better game unless they get new management.

I wouldn't be so optimistic. The Sims 5 won't be great, and it will probably cost substantially more than the Sims 4.

They may add in some features that are missing from the Sims 4, but they'll leave out other things. How else will they get you to spend money for overpriced DLC? Leave content out, and then make you pay more money for it later. It's business, and it's not a secret.

Why make a good product from the beginning when you can squeeze money out of customers for years? That's how it's been with the Sims 4 for the last 6 years. And it's worked for them! The Sims 4 is the best selling Sims game of all time, not because it's a great game, but because it costs the most money!

I think people are a little naive to think Sims 5 will be any better. EA/ Maxis is making plenty of money nickel and diming everyone with the Sims 4, why would they change? They're not going to change their business model.

And I also refuse to trust a company that's mishandled the Sims 4 so badly.

Not a surprise. 100% of my requests for The Sims 3 were in The Sims 4.

People requested for Open For Business for 5 years, it was the first Expansion Pack of The Sims 4

    But at the same time

Ideas -> 3 or 5 years of development -> Release date

    Request in 2017 -> -> -> Product in 2022

I'm of the belief that Sims 5 will most likely still be low quality. They've already shown that they don't need to put in any effort to make gangbusters. So why not start off poorly, then dangle some promises in front of us like a carrot on a string to keep us invested?

The Sims 4 hasn't introduced a new musical instrument since 2017

Would anyone really be that masochistic to buy Sims 5 at launch after being slapped around by the Sims 4 "Gurus"?
