@Colorist40 Thanks! The collage was a complete surprise! Also, Ben and his wife are 30 days away from becoming elders themselves. All their kids are teenagers. Soon Ben will be saying goodbye to his mother, Katherine. She's four days younger than Ryan.
    Edit to add:
My game's lifespan is edited through MCC.

    60 days for elders
    50 days for adults
40 days for young adults(in case I send my played households to college)
28 days for children and teens
Toddlers and babies, I don't think I changed. I forget whether I did or not.

I love this thread, but sadly it seems to have died. I hope we can get more people involved. So I am posting in the hopes it won't be buried.

I have a follow up photos to share, that better show some of my Sim family's faces.
This is Brianna Cantrell, the fourth child and only girl.

This is their mother, Louise Cantrell.

I'll do my best to catch a picture of Aaron, the oldest boy. He had a stomach flu and was left at home.

I liked reading about everyone's interesting Sim families, so I thought I'd share mine.

@Colorist40 Do you post about Mads and Viola and their children and grandchildren anywhere? I'd like to keep up with what's going on with them. Klara and Max raise Tamino exactly in the opposite way to how my current Sim family raises their toddlers and children (minus maybe the bedtime thing). Giving kids and toddlers more freedom regarding school and skills seems like a fun way to play.

My standard blurb about the Sims family I play, the Fiers, is that the Fiers are a vampire family led by an arrogant and socially awkward megalomaniac named Asher who, among other things, hopes to have 100 children. As of now, he's had 16. The youngest five recently became young adults and are discovering the perks of university.

As a whole, the family has a tendency to be patriarchal (but this has changed and is continuing to change as Asher hopefully grows) and ambitious. They've also amassed extreme wealth.

    qcz9DpF.jpg

In the picture, the two standing are Asher Fier and his wife, Adelise. They're immortal. Asher is a vampire. Adelise is not. Seated are Asher's five youngest children, the fourth generation of children that he's had. The others have grown up and moved out.

Dawn, in the green dress, is the most normal of the five. She's the eldest and she's friendly, reasonable, and very easy-going. She's doing a biology degree at Britechester and has a long-term townie boyfriend who's an expert at fire dancing.

Darius is next to Dawn. He's the silliest of the five. These days, he's into art and becoming Simstagram famous. Because he's constantly setting things on fire and losing all sorts of games and competitions to his siblings, one would probably think that he's incompetent, but he's not. He's a talented painter, violinist, and he's doing well in his distinguished degree at Britechester.

Delmarya is sitting in the middle. She's the only vampire of the five, which bothers her immensely, so she tries to ignore the fact that she's a vampire, which … Anyway, Delmarya is also a perfectionist. She mastered all toddler skills, childhood aspirations, and parenthood traits. She's enrolled in the maximum amount of university courses, has a perfect GPA, and is almost at the very top of her career (university is only for fun), but because she's a perfectionist (and a vampire) she's incredibly insecure. Despite trying, she doesn't have many friends besides a toddler she met on the beach once and her siblings.

Dyna is the youngest of the five. She's Darius twin. She's sweet, quiet, and often overlooked because of the chaos caused by her parents and older siblings. She works hard and looks out for everyone, but doesn't get much attention herself. She's studying computer science in a distinguished degree at Foxbury; she's also on the soccer team.

Last is Dysis. Dysis is the most like their father. She's ambitious and competitive, and wants to become independently wealth, but she also loves trying new things and experiencing all that life has to offer. She fell intensely in love with someone who was obsessed with her, which has made it hard for Dysis to keep on top of her academics due to spending so much time with him. She missed giving one of her final presentations and she's also almost hopeless when it comes to artistic things like painting and flower arranging, but none of that is going to stop her from trying it all.

On the wall in portraits behind them are three more of Asher's children, all vampires, who have already moved out. His favorite child and first-born, Aster, then Barin and Calanthe.

    Three pictures from their childhood.

Since my input, both my founders have passed away, their son is now a top-level businessman, their daughter in law is still painting and their grandchildren are growing up!

Hadley Cole moved out of her parents house the second she became a young adult and moved into the house where she was actually born in Del Sol Valley. She has a romance blossoming with a co-worker that I made to be her future hubby but so far, he's playing hard to get. Lol. Her music is taking off and so far she's made $222 in royalties sending her mixed CDs to a record company.

Another one of my families. Kolby Doyle (Vampire) Raven Reyes (Spellcaster) and their daughter Raina (Spellcaster) I'm keeping them unmarried though as Raven has the noncomittal trait.

This is Lauren. A recently arrived Sixamite currently renting in the fashion district of San Myshuno. Lauren is going to attend university (haven’t decided biology or physics major yet, see my other post). I also want her to woo some eligible Sims, potentially resulting in Father Winters baby and (if I’m feeling real adventurous/dastardly) the black widow game achievement.

What a cute Sim! I love how she looks. Did you decide on her major already? :)

This is my main family Kaufmann from my decade challenge in the year 1913. I've post this picture in the What's happened in your Game forum thread too. I made this picture to remember them from the "good times" before their world fell apart.
I've tried to get them all on the picture, but not everybody could be seen here.

    NnKqeKB.png?2

The founders are sitting on the couch, they have 7 children (4 sons and 3 daughters) and three grandchildren. The youngest daughter stands behind the crib. 4 of 7 children are already married, their spouses are also on this picture, one stands behind one of the sons. Not on the picture are the 3 foster children, they are the youngest siblings of one of the spouses, their parents have already died.

What a pretty family you have there! Are you German? I love watching you historic players Sims. How do you work historic play out with all the modern day gadgets that Sims need in game? Do you have custom careers? Or do they live "off the land"? Do you have mods that make the computer unnecessary?

Right now I play the household living in the Behr resident in Windenburg.

    01_09_14.png

Yuki moved and was replaced with Arnav Mahajan. Later, Candy died from old ages. Samaria Kahananui moved in to keep Arnav company. She graduated from university. She is partly seen behind the staircase.

The latest addition to the household was William Knudsen who was seen at a graduation ceremony at the university. He did not graduate, though. As Arnav was an Elder male and Samaria a Young Adult female, I decided to move a Young Adult male into the mix.

Interesting! What a cute little home they have. Did you build it yourself?

Also, what is your Sims' relationship? Are they just roommates or are they romantically involved with each other? :)

Wow Ida looks so much better with the long hair. That was a good choice for her. I never saw Casino, so don't know who Mads Mikkelsen is, but he is nice looking.

Thank you. She was born in game. She was a child of a sim who I had marry unbeknownst to me at the time a sim who was an alien lol. When she grew up I just liked her looks, although I had to change her hair. I liked her so much I put her in a lot of my games. Then when I paired her up with Emmitt they made such a cute couple and have nice looking kids that I decided that they are one of my all time favorite couples. I did make Emmitt though.

Well I can't do any mods so you got me beat lol. I admire anyone who can do it. Wow custom careers too? Lucky you. I would love to be able to make mods specific for what I want, but I have to rely on the great modders out there especially MCC. I imagine if you keep making them, you will get better. Practice makes perfect.

I will see what Blair and the O'neal clan gets up to to see if it is worth sharing lol. I must admit I am disappointed that none of the kids that Emmitt and Blair have had this game are half alien, but I don't give up hope lol.

Thanks again for your kind words.

Yes, the long hair suits her very well. She recently moved in with her boyfriend (because I started a new save and for some reason she couldn't go back living in the dorm haha even though she was still in University and the semester was running). So now they live in a small apartment in San Myshuno. I didn't give her back her cat yet because she's rather focused on building ab money and advancing in her studies and career, so I guess little Peach just stays at Mads and Viola. ^^

That is one cool story with Blair. Show us the kids, if you want :) I'd be interested to see them.

Is it even possible for them to be half alien? I always thought they were human or alien, and they could not be both.

@Dakota88 Loving your stories and pictures! I was surprised to see your Max look so different from mine. Wouldn't have recognised him.

    Thank you so much!

Oh my, show me your Max haha! I didn't alter him in CAS or anything (I don't alter my Sims' genetics).

I don't alter mine either, but it must be my CC that makes his face look so different! I'll post more in-depth about some of my sim families later. I have a whole Villareal thing going and I also record their story on my blog.

Max Villareal turned the bad boy route in my game. He's a criminal hiding out at an abandoned house in Windenburg. He left his family after a fight with his very young stepmother and thought he had nothing to stay for. His siblings and his stepmother, Lucy, do think about him sometimes and wonder where he is now. If only they knew he was living in a house with lots of cobwebs and a broken stove, surrounded in filth.

    Asking-About-Incident-with-Stolen-Money.png

Oh dear it so sad that Max would prefer the criminal lifestyle and living in such horrible conditions than living with his siblings in security and in a nice place. Well he has to follow his own path and learn the hard way what he is giving up.

I second that. Also, I would love to see his terrible house haha, I always like looking at such "filthy" builds people do.

I totally love them! They look so cute. The dad has a scar, what is the story behind it?

Ah - I just saw your answer:
@Colorist40 Thankyou. Just that he's in the military and he and his team are the sims that defeated the mother. I like to think he got it while they were fighting her. I'm not really that great at making stories to go with my sims.

I am not so good at making up stories either, it's mostly things that actually really affect my gameplay. I admire such detailed stories like the ones @Colorist40 makes up, it's so much fun to read and imagine!

You tagged the wrong person @Dakota88 is the one who has the story with Mads and Viola. So can't answer that lol. Wow that can't be a good combination arrogant and a megalomaniac lol. That must be fun to play.

The kids are fantastic looking not a bad looking sim among them? Are all the kids that attractive?

I love the contrasting personalities and stories you have for the kids. I feel bad for Delmarya. It must be horrible to be something you don't want to be.

    Great family there

Delmarya sounds really interesting, keep me updated if you want, I'd be so interested how her story turns out. What's her job as University is just for fun? Which degrees did she master?

How do you keep the mother who's not a vampire immortal?

Which mods do you use for your gameplay? :)

@ Dakota88 Here is a continuation of the O'Neals saga lol. You said you wanted me to share if I wanted, so I am sharing.
Madeline O'Neal after having a child with Chadwick, thought that he would leave Maddison even though she was her sister, and be with her. She had known it would be a long shot, because Maddison was the oldest child, and she would inherit the bulk of the money and Maddison would also get the house. Their parents would give them all a generous inheritance, but not like Maddison. Madeline knew in her heart that he was a cad, but she couldn't get herself to admit it, because then she would realize she betrayed her sister for nothing. After Jimenez and Grace were born, she hoped that it would make Chadwick be more loving to her. She hoped that they could find a way to be together even if her sister never knew, but she wanted to be done with the secrets. In fact his behavior toward her was so callous after the babies were born that she in order to try to hurt him slept with the nanny Vlad. She was desperate to get Chadwick's attention even by sleeping with this ugly man. She liked Vlad as he had always been good to her, but it made her skin crawl thinking what she did. She ended up pregnant with triplets, and there was no doubt they were Vlad's as Chadwick had been giving his attention to other women including Maddison sadly. After the twins were born, Chadwick seemed to lose interest in her. She regretted what she did, and decided she didn't want Chadwick to know after all, so she was hoping that she could get Chadwick to sleep with her and make him think he was the dad, and maybe then he would feel more attached to her. Maybe more children would change his mind? Well even if it didn't, she had no choice now. She had even tried seducing him after she slept with Vlad and finding out she was three weeks pregnant so she could try to pass off the children as Chadwick's, but that didn't work. He seemed to be done with her.

Maddison couldn't be happier with Chadwick. He seemed more attentive, and life was good. Chadwick one day came to Maddison and told her he was moving out, as things between him and Madeline were not good. He told her that Madeline hated him, and he couldn't stand her hostility. Of course the truth was that Madeline in her anger at his rejection was threatening to tell Maddison the truth about their babies. If this happened, he didn't want to be near Maddison, so he told her he was going to get a place, get a job and send for her and the kids. Chadwick sure was wishing at this time he had never been with Madeline, but he couldn't take it back. He just had to hope that Madeline would see reason and not tell Maddison as that would wreck her relationship with her sister. Still Madeline was so angry with him, and he was beyond frustrated with her. He never promised her that they would be together forever. In fact he promised her nothing. Yeah he told her loved her, and was it his fault she believed him? He knew it was wrong, but Madeline wouldn't have been with him if he hadn't told her that, and well at the time he just wanted what he wanted. He didn't go into it strictly for the woo hoo, he thought maybe they could have something, but Madeline was too needy. He couldn't handle her constant needing to be with him. It was getting harder to keep things from Maddison, and he was not going to risk losing his chance to get her money when the parents passed. So he broke it off finally, and boy did they have a fight! Now she hated him as much as he hated her. There was nothing there anymore, and he was just anxious to be rid of Madeline.

Maddison being so in love was disappointed to hear of Chadwick leaving, but he assured her he would call for her as soon as he could. She was content and she thought maybe after he got a place she could go live with him or at least visit. So off Chadwick went. She hoped that it wouldn't be too long. In the meantime Madeline always seemed in a bad mood, and short tempered with everybody. She tried to hide it, but she was angry and miserable at having been used by her own stupidity. Yes Chadwick was to blame, but she didn't have to fall for his lines. Now she was stuck at home with 2 kids by Chadwick and three babies just born by Vlad. How could she have been so stupid?

Madeline realizing that the situation at home was too painful and impossible for her, asked her parents for her share of her inheritance and she moved out taking the kids with her. Madeline struggled for a while on her own, got a job, and found a good place to live. In time her shame and pain lessened, and she started being open to dating again. Within a year, Madeline met a guy named Benny Soto. She was very cautious this time around, but Benny was smitten and very persistent. After 2 months of dating, Madeline decided to tell Benny about her kids. She was scared, because she felt that Benny would run the other way seeing she had 5 kids, but to her ever lasting delight, Benny was tickled pink. He loved kids, and he always wanted to be a father. Benny assured Madeline, that he was not going anywhere, and wanted to get to know the kids better. As the months passed it was clear the kids bonded with Benny, and he with them. Madeline was thrilled. As the months passed, Madeline started to worry as Benny didn't seem like he was in a hurry to get married much less propose. She wanted to propose, but was afraid she would drive him off, so she patiently waited. After they had dated 2 years finally Benny proposed to Madeline's relief and she said yes. Now they have been married 1 year and although they did not have any kids of their own, Madeline couldn't have been happier. Meanwhile Maddison was still living at home waiting for Chadwick. Her parents thought she should just give up on Chadwick, get divorced and move on, but Maddison was too in love. She was convinced that Chadwick would send for her even though it had been three years. He still came and visited regular, but when Maddison pressed him when he would be sending for her, he got annoyed and it ruined their visits, so she stopped asking. She decided she would just have to be patient. When the time was right he would send for her. She knew he hadn't had a steady job in the last three years and that was making things hard. In the meantime she would be patient and trust in his love for her. She had thought of asking her parents for some money, but it was clear they weren't going to help as they hated Chadwick for no reason so she knew that was not an avenue she could go down. What will the future hold for all the O'Neals? Will Madeline and Benny live happily ever after and have kids of their own? Will Chadwick ever come back for Maddison? Will Maddison give up on Chadwick or wake up to what he really is? Will her father and mother disinherit Maddison if she keeps waiting on Chadwick? Will Vlad claim his children by Madeline and Blair eventually or will he move on and find love with someone else? Only time will tell.

    Benny Soto

I am rotating this save, and I went back out of curiosity to see what the family was up to, and I saw that Madeline had moved out and was married to Benny, and Maddison was still in love with Chadwick although he had moved out too, so I made up a back story to continue what the game threw at me lol. Hope you enjoyed it.

Oh yes, I really enjoyed that, thank you for sharing! I am really interested how they continue with their lives. Chadwick caused quite some trouble here. Does he also have someone else on the side now that he doesn't live with Madison anymore? What an interesting story with the 2 "failing" daugthers becoming teen moms. It was so much fun to read it.

Also, I am really thrilled to know what goes on with Vlad's children. Are they vampires? Will Emmet ever find out that way? As for now, he still thinks they're his children...

Unfortunately, the picture of Benny Soto does not work. I would love to see more pics though!

I’m currently playing with the Zimmermanns, a family of four German grandmas living in the old town of Windenburg.

    zimmerfrauenimwohnzimfijf4.jpg

The story behind this is that the house originally belonged to one of them, and her own family, but after her kids moved out and her husband died, she didn’t want to be alone and invited her two sisters and her sister-in-law to stay with her. Each of them deliberately lives up to a different grandma stereotype.

    Frieda – The Gentle Matriarch
    01friedaruj5f.png
Your classic grandma, Frieda loves to bake, knit, tend to the garden and read bedtime stories to children. When her sisters are at work, she likes to busy herself with household chores until they come home to a lavish dinner, also prepared by her. On weekends, Frieda earns a little money on the side as a babysitter and keeps in touch with her two daughters, Ingrid and Rebecca, who have started their own families in Brindleton Bay and Oasis Springs, respectively.

    Waltraud – The Hipster Crone
    02waltraudbhkx7.png
She may have the same face as Frieda, but is her twin’s polar opposite in terms of personality. In an effort not to become embittered like her older sister Mechthild, Waltraud does everything in her power to stay young and trendy, both in her personal life and her job as a style influencer. You want to know about the latest fashion, what musicians are currently trending, or which celebrities are dating? Ask Waltraud!

Dietlinde – The Wise Old Woman
    03dietlindec1jqs.png
Just as curious and eager to stay up to date as her wife Waltraud, albeit in a very different way, Dietlinde is the intellectual of the group. Through her never-ending quest to learn more about the world, she has earned several university degrees and become a walking encyclopedia of the strangest, rarest, and most fascinating knowledge that she is willing to share with anyone who’ll listen, without ever slipping into insufferable know-it-all territory.

    Mechthild – The Grumpy Hag
    04mechthildu4k6g.png
Don’t you feel like today’s youth is completely useless, technological progress ought to be feared, and everything was better in the old days? Well, that’s how Mechthild feels, anyway. Constantly complaining and seeing the worst in everything, the unmarried oldest of the Zimmermann sisters is not an easy person to deal with. Just don’t tell her that or she might literally curse you – because she doesn’t just look and behave like your typical wicked witch, she is in fact a spellcaster!

Oh my god, I love them, I love their names (classic German names haha), their looks, their stories and personalities. I love everything about them! You can really imagine them being real German grandmas, haha. You hardly see anybody just playing elders only, so I am pleased you show them so much love.

    Are you German?

I have like 20+ families so I'll just post the first one I made when I started playing the game. They've been modified many times though since I first made them with different CC. My guy here used to be clean shaven but the stress of his job turned him into a raging alcoholic. His girlfriend is Nina (the girl second from the right), and their daughter is Sarah (third from the right)

From left to right; Lara, Yams, Tiffanie, Dr. D, Sarah, Nina, and Rose.
    c8SNNqb.jpg
Hard to get a good shot of them all, they never look at the camera at same time and have a derpy look or a dumb grin on their face most of the time.

They are still in the same house I first started them in also... it's way too small so I need to move them somewhere else or maybe split them up and have half of them move somewhere else.

Your Sims look so interesting. They remind me of Monster High dolls haha. Does Dr. D have any romantic bonds with the girls? What is their story with each other? I'd be so interested to know. They do wear some sexy clothing - is there a story behind that too?

I put my challenges on hold because I wanted to build and decorate a bit. Built a nice, big family home and got so attached to the idea of the family who I imagined lived there that I decided to create them. Then I didn't want to just cheat them into this end-game house so I dumped them into the EA starter house next door and now we're just... making money!

Mom Kellie is a very passionate painter. Daughter Aleah inherited that trait, but on top of painting, she also -really- likes music. (Not that she's very good at playing the violin yet. Everyone suffers.) Dad is a computer fan who's working on the engineering career but can't afford any of the stuff he needs to actually get somewhere in his career so we're progressing very slowly. And then there's little Anthony who mostly enjoys ruining his sister's school projects and following his mom around like a little duckling.

Since we're working towards a very real goal, they got the basic necessities for the home and every single extra simoleon is being saved for the future house! No unnecessary expenses allowed. ;)

I so much love their story! Did you decorate their current house? It's interesting it has tiles everywhere. Aleah is such a cute Sim. I wonder what kind of story you have in store for her.

I'd be happy to see the house you built for them! Show it to us if you want! :)

I don't really play for multiple generations, and I play with aging turned off, so any kids I have never grow up, but I love coming up with stories, and I have have a lot of different households I play with. These ones are my favorites (and the sims most closely resembling "families" in my games since I also have a lot of single sims I play with).

This one is my oldest and probably one of my longest played families, although I haven't played with them much recently. Ari (the guy in the white shirt) moved to Windenberg from San Myshuno with his son Robin to try and start over after his former girlfriend (Robin's mother) abandoned both of them and ran off with another guy. Shelby (the guy in the sweater and glasses) had been raising his daughter Katie alone for some time after his wife died in a tragic mac and cheese fire in Windenberg. Ari met him by chance at a playground. The two guys became good friends and eventually decided to share housing so they could help each other raise their kids. Shelby is an artist and Ari is a writer. They're both dealing with the emotional fallout of what happened to them, which makes life in general just hard sometimes.

    Ari-Shelby-Robin-and-Katie.jpg

This story is one where I am playing with the fame system, though these three roommates are all still pretty unknown in the celebrity world at this point. Xorian (in the blue shirt) is an aspiring actor. He's also an alien. His roommates know, but he doesn't reveal himself to outsiders yet. He wants to star in romance and drama films, and he's afraid if he doesn't stay in his human disguise he won't be able to get those kinds of roles. Erik (purple sweater) is in the style influencer career. Camryn (the girl in the tan hoodie) is a competitive gamer and a freelance programmer.

    Camryn-Erik-and-Xorian.jpg

David, Damico and their ghost dog Chesnut, in one of their finer moments  (Brent Hecking is not part of the family, he's a friend of David's who was visiting when the fire broke out). Damico (the guy in the vest, with the fire extinguisher) is a vampire, and apparently also the only one capable of maintaining a cool head in a crisis. David and Damico recently got engaged, but David is trying to finish his physics degree at Foxbury Institute before they get married.

    David-Damico-and-Chesnut.jpg

This is a family I started with the intention of actually aging sims up (manually) and maybe playing as generations. But... I have said that before, and I never actually seemed to get around to aging them  So, we'll see. Greg and Jason are happily married and have adopted these two adorable toddlers. Ember (yellow shirt) is a spellcaster, and Siren (overalls) is a mermaid, but Greg and Jason don't know that yet. They're in for a bit of a surprise when the girls reach their teens. Assuming I ever let these cuties age up, that is.

    Greg-Jason-Ember-and-Siren.jpg

This pair of mismatched roommates are the focus of a SimLit story I have been working on privately for some time. Ion (the blue alien in pink shirt) is studying human culture, and he's very enthusiastic about it. Reuben (grumpy guy in white shirt) is... not so sure he made the right decision in getting a roommate.

    Ion-and-Reuben.jpg

So... I take a long time doing things because I play with so many families, and I like to put in so much story detail as I play. I still have not finished solving the Strangerville storyline for the first time. But these are the two sims that are doing it (while also getting constantly distracted by other random things like being abducted by aliens and exploring the jungles of Selvadorada). Josh and Iris are brother and sister. They started the game living in a tent in Oasis Springs, but now they have a small trailer home in Strangerville. I call them my "hard luck twins" and I try to make life both weird and difficult for them. They like to have adventures.

    Iris-and-Josh.jpg

This is one of my current favorites that I play a lot. I did not intend for this to be a family, but stuff happens  Lunar (the green alien) is a hybrid alien-spellcaster (I used a cheat to give him the spellcaster abilities) who specializes in alchemy and also works as a scientist at the lab from Get To Work. He gets abducted by aliens a lot (probably because of the scientist career) and he recently came back pregnant. He is now trying to figure out how to take care of his little baby (named Tranquility after the Sea of Tranquility where the Apollo 11 lunar mission landed) while still advancing his career. I do eventually age babies up because I get bored with them, so Tranquility will at least make it to toddler before I age-freeze him for all eternity. And anyone who names his kid "Tranquility" is just asking for trouble, so of course Tranquility will get the "fussy" trait. :naughty:

    Lunar-and-Tranquility.jpg

I don't usually play with premade sims, but I really like Vlad. I figured he needed a loyal friend, so I made him Igor. They are both currently going to school at U Brite. Vlad is studying villainy because he wants to be better at it, and Igor is studying biology to become a doctor. Not sure, yet, just what kind of "doctor" Igor is going to be though...

    Vlad-and-Igor.jpg

I am impressed with your Sims and all of their creative stories you came up with. I really enjoyed reading that. My favourites would be Lunar and his little Tranquility, and Vlad with Igor (I love how you decided to take care of him and give him a friend, that is just so sweet). I also like the hard luck twins. I for myself can't imagine playing The Sims without aging on, so I am quite impressed how you get so creative doing that and how you get their stories so detailed still.

Do you rotate? How many sim days do you play with each family? :)
@Duvelina Thanks! I'm glad you like them. I'm not sure how to explain my answer to your question though. It has to do with what interests me. Most of my life, even as a kid, my main way of "playing" was just to make up stories, and often to try writing them down. In the sims, as in my story writing, developing whatever plot or character arc I find in my imagination is what I get excited about. Once that reaches a conclusion story-wise, I either have a new plot idea for something new that could happen to them, or I just move on and play with a different story. That's why I have so many.

For some reason, the more common approach to the Sims game, of raising kids, having the kids grow up to have kids, and those kids grow up to have kids, and so on, isn't a story I am very interested in for its own sake. If you think about it, a lot of books are just a small slice out of someone's life (even if that life is completely fantastical). They don't necessarily keep going on forever and ever showing you all of the hero's grandchildren and great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. There is a main set of characters, and eventually their story ends. And that's how I play. When I first started playing the sims (Sims 3) I was dismayed by the aging because it didn't let me linger in the story details as long as I wanted for one set of characters. It wasn't until I learned that it could be turned off that I started having fun.

I often admire the amazing multi-generational family trees that other players develop by playing with aging on. I'm truly impressed with some of long legacy families that people create. But doing that myself just hasn't ever really appealed to me. I'm kind of that way in real life too. I get more fun out of exploring a broad range of things, moving from one thing to another as I get new ideas, rather than dedicating myself to one thing for a long time.

This is a really interesting approach to the game, one I have never come across before. Thank you for sharing this with us.

My brand new game save (after the patch) starring my Cantrell Family!

    Tdw17Yn.jpg

The bearded fellow at the end of the table is the Patriarch, Joseph Cantrell, Sr. The redhead you can barely see to his left is Aaron, the eldest of the five children. Seated next to him, (again, you can barely see her) is the only daughter in the family, Brianna. The female in the scarf is the mother, Louise. Across from Louise (and fairly upset in this shot) is my teenage celebrity, Erik Cantrell. Next to him is their baby brother, Adrian. The one to their father's right (and looking rather smug) is the third son, Joseph Cantrell, Jr.

He ordered the Grand Slam breakfast, but decided his now famous older brother's Eggs Benedict looked better. So, he stole Erik's plate of food and gobbled it up. Erik, who was pretty hungry decided turn about was fair play, so he took Joey's abandoned breakfast. Hence the emotions on display.

I love Joseph, he looks so detailed. Did you create him yourself? What a nice family. And so many children!
