oh i forgot to mention, last year one of the simguru comment in a waterfalls archtype, he said that he would love to use it in some future expansion, it was because of this that there were several speculations that the next package would be futuristic since eco lifestyle had not been announced yet. however I don't think the next pack is time travel, say the whole year was very content focused on tech?
i'm trying to think out of the box and what the sims team would think sims 4 players want rather than what we've actually been asking for...i feel like them ruling out things in their message means that the expansion pack is going to be something nobody really asked for again but that's the pessimist in me talking lol
I get what you're saying, I'm a bit cautious about the coming EP too. But would love to be surprised. Someone in another thread mentioned an Olympics/professional sports-themed EP and I really think we shouldn't write these kinds of unexpected ideas off yet. Maybe even a historical theme... Casino's would also be unexpected. Maybe they've combined the Arcade theme and Wedding theme from the 2017 Stuff Pack vote into one EP.
I also think it may be a combination of stuff pack vote ideas and themes presented in previous surveys. It happened with EcoLifestyle, Tiny Living and the Off the Grid update. These were all part of votes and surveys, right down to things like the candle making station.
Yes, I think so too! They haven't done Danger/Afterlife, Weddings and Arcades yet and those were in surveys from before 2019. Oh and 'Find Love' was also in 2+ surveys I think. So weddings, romance and casino's combined could be a possibility.
A leak was just posted on twitter - the next EP is "Murder at the manor" (but as always dont take a leak with 100%). I personally dont believe it since "The Sims" is rated T but we will see i guess.
A murder EP released on 13 Nov 2020. Maybe it's the happy haunts everyone keeps talking about? Tough murder at the manor sounds very specific, like a RPG murder mystery, don't know how it would be an EP.
GUYS!? THIS IS CAN'T BE TRUE RIGHT? THIS IS FAKE, A JOKE? RIGHT?
It is definitely fake. I looked on that website that was in the URL. There is no Sims 4 packs listed besides what is already out and the upcoming Star Wars pack.
If it's a Music Pack, There will be the following:
- Casino
- Nightclub
- Form a Band (Either Rock or Pop)
- New York Type World.
- Sims Can Own Nightclubs and Casinos (Similar to Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony)
I really hope it's not a murder mystery themed pack and that the "leak" is indeed a fake. And sorry for the farming fans, but I'm glad that's not going to be the theme of this one either. I personally don't want a whole pack around that theme. Farming as part of the pack? Sure. Just not an entire pack.
As someone who loves supernatural gameplay, I would love another supernatural/occult themed pack. Or a superhero themed pack. Actually, since a lot of people seem to still love the idea of a Happy Haunts theme (I just found the survey where it was mentioned and it does seem really cool.) that would fit in nicely with a new occult like werewolves or demons.
But I also wouldn't mind some kind of "romantic getaway" type of pack. Even a winter themed one. Or a zoo-themed pack, although I feel it would be better as a game pack than an expansion pack.
For transparency, instead of listing off the things that the next pack will not have, they could have taken that opportunity to tell us what the pack will have. Idk why they didn’t just do that.
Because the community is reachy and if they said the next pack is going to be "Bands" I'm sure people would be like "Do you think cars will come in this EP? Cause Bands have everything to do with garages" or if they said that it would be "Mountain Vacation" there would be people speculating about dragons or fairies.
So, to set the expectations, this was the right move.
Did she say they had been working on the next EP since last year? What type of EP could possibly take a year if it doesn't include cars (which would require a road system in the game, so doubt they are ever in a patch), and or farming (which would require more animations), and or baby improvements which would call for more animations, interactions and routing.
ETA: And an actual Sim that would be very complicated since they are objects. It's the crib they need to take away since the baby isn't a Sim.
Just what type, let's see, EL, IL, etc. which most considered too small to actually be called EPs.
Another EP that doesn't even include some of the most requested content for the past six years.
How can an attraction system (if that's a hint by a flirty plumbbob) take a year to code in likes and dislikes?
I'm sorry but seeing what type of 'eps' they have released in the past few years and their themes and size of them, I can't even get excited about this announcement.
And the two major things they really want people to enjoy EL and SWJTB, patches broke games and crashed them. Needing emergency patches right away. As is evident on the threads concerning these pre- patches for those two packs.
Skintones are fine to add but they aren't gameplay and looking at the last few years of what has been done and what themes and knowing not much anyone has requested has been added in any EP in TS4, I can't even speculate if I would like it or not.
When we all look at EPs, what EP in TS4 would anyone say omg, you have to buy this one, you just can't do without this one? Any of them? Is there really any EP in TS4 we would all scramble to save if it was like it used to be and on a cd, and protect that with our lives so it didn't get broken. You know there are a few in TS2 and TS3 people did just that, if all their cds got broken they would have ran to save one particular EP, to my knowledge none of us feel that way about any EP in TS4, not any. There are none we would say omg! buy that one, it's so much gameplay and fun! It's more like meh.
It's more like things went down hill with EPs in TS4, not more expectations and or better themes. I know some really enjoy GT and wouldn't want to play the game without the club system, but c'mon, EPs are mostly a waste since they are some of the most bug filled packs for TS4. Such as C&D where the vet career remains a problem...or where CL still generates some festivals over top of a previous festivals, but not as often as when released, and or where patients in the hospitals still have problems with unfinishished filled tasks and or routing or whatever, and or who can forget, that fame pack was supposed to be an actual EP.....c'mon now, can we really flip out about any announcement about another EP? Wasn't ROM an EP, too? Lol What about JA, wasn't that an EP? Stick with GPs, Maxis, because the EPs are pretty much nothing. Forgot your last EP is broken with NAPs. Unless they patched it, throw more money at another broken EP.
Most of the EPs take approx. a year of development time. The gurus told us that a long time ago. They're just working on multiple things at once.
I am pleased to see that the discussion of casinos is growing.
I'd be totally down for a Las Vegas/ Monte Carlo inspired Romance pack. Shot gun weddings and gambling at the casino. And hopefully the return of the Attraction system....

I would be extremely happy if quarterly announcements were a thing once more. It would build up our excitement if we had more bits and pieces of an upcoming pack in advance.
As far as November's EP goes, I'm keeping my expectations low (plus, my old laptop died, R.I.P, and I don't think I'll be getting a new one until Christmas or so, so I'm playing other games on my fiancé's computer until then) but still wishing it's something that adds replayability. I've said it before, and I'm sure many Simmers feel the same way, what The Sims 4 lacks is personality and immersion as most of the packs don't really connect to each other and their features (with some lucky exceptions, thank goodness) can't be combined or used in a multi-layered, super creative way. I don't know, this is how I feel.
I've got a hint it may have something to do with romance or hobbies, though. Fingers crossed.
As much as I loved TS2 FreeTime, I really don't want hobbies to be the next expansion pack. We JUST got Nifty Knitting Stuff. If we do get a hobbies EP, knitting should've just been included with it. People would complain that they're splitting themes again into different packs.
I would much prefer a romance expansion pack that reintroduced the turn-offs and turn-ons system, or a winter vacation expansion pack with hotels. I wouldn't mind seeing an amusement park expansion pack too but that seems unlikely.

But honestly romance should have come with the base game and a winter vacation expansion pack should be a whole vacation expansion pack. Not just winter and that's it.
Do we really need another American world though? I hope it's not Vegas honestly. Whatever the next pack is, I hope it expands the game meaningfully and it is fleshed out. This year has been pretty rough so far...
If it's a Music Pack It should be a casino and nightclub lots for sims to own.
I hope not.
One of the top 3 themes that are still on my wishlist is in fact a music pack to include bands and musical ensembles. I’d rather see a decent system for musical groups having the ability to organise concerts, than a system where you could own a nightclub. Both would be great, of course, but I don’t see the Sims team doing this. It’s usually one system per theme per pack...
I definitely want a music pack more than any other pack. As you said, a system to organize concerts and a system to own a nightclub would be great! I have no interest in game gambling, though.
I seriously hope and doubt that the sims games will ever have anything on gambling ever again. Gambling destroys people's lives, let's be serious.
So does drinking (juice, nectar, fizzing, etc.) and smoking (bubble blower). That being said, we all have our vices and they can be managed responsibly, gambling included. If we have to hold to this serious standard, what about things like cars? They are inherently dangerous and do destroy a number of lives, and if we ever got them you could simulate drunk driving with juice, but I do not think that is a reason not to allow cars in the game.
