So what are ya'll gonna do about your anger, besides spewing it here over and over and over? Do you assume it will make a difference? Will you ever move on? Have you thought about a next step? I'm curious.
People's anger is what got us toddlers, a basic feature that was left out of the basic game and got us new skin tones coming soon after six years so no I will never "move on" because that's not what you do if you want to see change in a game you like. Silence and taking everything that EA gives us is not the answer.

On the another note I'm so excited to see the star wars fandom flip out when they play the pack realizes its shallow, underwhelming and buggy. Stars wars has a much better games and this is a guaranteed to pale in comparison.
It actually wasn't the anger, it was our ideas and ones like sparkfairy1 who used constructive feedback to actually get the Gurus to listen. She played a pivotal role with not only her words but her actions and I couldn't be prouder how it came about. None of us expected any of the Gurus to listen to us. We just didn't let the the anger of trolls prevent the game improving and growing that's all. It took a lot of backbone enduring insults to make it happen and we probably did anger a lot of Simmers, but it was worth it after seeing the reaction to them being the best the franchise has gotten yet for toddlers.

I think we would have gotten toddlers eventually anyway; not to speak ill of the departed but it seemed that the game focus changed pretty dramatically when Rachel Franklin (who had no background into The Sims franchise) left and Lyndsay Pearson (a long time veteran of the franchise) became Executive Producer. I think the game is still trying to catch up from that disastrous start, both in terms of game play and with the loyal (and occasionally rabid) fan base.

I don't really think this idea was totally on either the Maxis division or on the developers; I think Disney approached EA and wanted a tie-in for Galaxy's Edge because of the pandemic shutting things down thus killing attendance at one of their big ticket park items. Any chance they have to get some extra publicity appeals to them. And it's the developers' job to be enthusiastic about content even if personally they may have some doubts, so don't be too hard on them and the gung-ho tweets and such.

I think it’s convenient how The Sims fandom seems to believe YT is a meaningful metric when it’s good for the game, but as soon as it’s showing displeasure it’s no longer useful and doesn’t represent the “true” reaction... you people kill me.

What do you mean by ‘you people’? I’m certainly not one of them.

You carved out the chunk of text that answers your question, and you were the one I replied to with the comment in the first place.

When it comes to EA, I don't see YT as a meaningful metric at all. All I see a group of simmers that are either hyped for something, or displeased about it. I don't go around saying the likes or dislikes on YT provide evidence for the potential success or failure of a pack.
For a small indie company that's trying to establish their brand it means something much more than for EA.

EA is fine. They lose some old players, they gain some new. They don't give a hoot about you or me, they'll get what they're looking for until folks actually stop buying their stuff. And I don't see that happen anytime soon. Not with this pack, not with the next.
So no, I'm not one of those 'you people', so there's no point in generalizing.

Successful pack or not, it doesn't mean 🌺🌺🌺🌺. Its release and the timing is clearly hated by the majority due to their absolutely horrible method of prioritization.

Say it makes a good amount of profits, a pack can be even more successful if they just listen.

Next pack will probably be a fan favorite request and everyone will be back on board. 😊

Couldn't be farther from the truth. The pandemic went into full force in March. You're saying they made the pack in less than 6 months?

If I'm correct we had Sparkfairy1 thread going on for 2 years. And in the end I didn't even buy TS4, but I'm glad everyone that wanted toddlers got them :) Sparkfairy1 left this forum years ago, hope she is OK.

I hope so too. She was one of the sweetest people I met and she got things done. I hope she is happy gaming.

I don't Tweet so no issues there. LOL. But yes I do know they had that partnership poll Simmers entered last year but know many of the Gurus are long time Star Wars fans too. My MAC request made it in the game. Not the first time Sims has partnered with other EA games like Yarny this year and Sims 3 had Plants verses Zombies. Whole Sims series has been a side game of Sim City if I think about it so there has been a ton of overlapping of EA games over the years. Why I am not upset about it, it is a smart business move that will attract more male gamers especially family men which Sims franchise badly needs again. Last time Sims attracted male and female Simmers was the Sims 3. Wider the net it attracts Simmers the better it sells and I think it is a great pack for families.

What about the 750, 000 viewers who watched but didn't react? Wonder how they feel. 🤔

Well they didn’t hit the like button so I’m not sure what you’re trying to imply.

No, I was just nice enough to not hit the dislike button. :P

I'd assume they are neutral. I tend not to like/dislike a video unless I really like the channel/video and/or the host reminds me or I am really frustrated with the video.

Doesn't mean anything. If the majority of the visible reactions are dislikes, it heavily implies the general census is hatred. We can play 'if' games all day or go off of what is visible :-)

Hardly. I've been a fan of the sims for years, never once interacted with the community until six months ago. I don't ever leave a like or dislike unless I feel very strongly about something. In general people who are angry are gonna be louder than those who are not because they want their voice to be heard. A lot of us like myself are just in the "eh" category.

If you judge purely by video likes Strangerville was a raging success as the trailer has way more likes than dislikes.

Again, if we're judging purely on likes rather than just the dislikes, this pack has more likes than Get Together, Get to Work, City Living, Outdoor Retreat, Dine Out, etc etc

lmao, yeah, visible on social media.
Not saying that doesn't mean anything, but it's still not the only thing that counts (thank God!).
Guess what, there are still people on this planet who don't care about social media, who don't use it at all or only have an account for watching/keeping up with stuff but not interacting (no giving likes/dislikes).
Never base you opinions solely on social media, it is not "the world" no matter how many people may think so.

As somebody else already wrote, what will truely say anything is the money, how many people buy the pack and that is what truely speaks to companies (which is not evil, even if people like to make it out that way, it's how business works and that is reality everywhere).

What is visible to you is often not all that is there...this goes for alot of things btw..

Those are my "wise" words for today, now you may go back to whatever it is you want.

I’m still finding it very strange how the gurus haven’t said much about this pack at all usually by now they have answered a lot of questions. Whether it is due to the anger from a lot of fans or if they can’t say much as it’s a collab with Disney and are waiting for the livestream I don’t know. This is the quietest I’ve known them following a pack announcement.

If I look at it from EAs perspective which consummers are they targeting; Not me even though I want new adventures for my adventourous Sims. I own all the packs and selling to me is just one sale. They are not interested in players who play Sims 2 and 3. Neither those who haven't bought a pack since f.e City Living. They want new players, players who will buy both the base game and Stars Wars and if they get hooked even more packs. To attract new players they can't use a knitting pack, they need some very selling and there you have Star Wars. That is why they some time ago gave away the base game for free to attract new players

Stupid tactic though when a good portion of the playerbase is at the moment unsatisfied. Why not attract those which are big in numbers?

Who's gonna buy The Sims 4 because of a sleezy game-pack? Not many, I can tell you that.

    Literally, what is this?

The fact they made that tweet to this very specific pack is all the proof you need to know they actually struggle with comprehension or thrive off seeing a messy community.

    Deleted tweet.

Have they blocked her/him? You don't see the tweets then.

I checked and found I'd blocked that person some time ago for some tweet or other. Doesn't seem to work here.

Not sure what you're exactly talking about but EA deleted the tweet and the other tweet is someone pointing out the tweet is deleted. You can unblock him, check the tweet and reblock if you wanna see the tweet badly enough.

    WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?

I’m still finding it very strange how the gurus haven’t said much about this pack at all usually by now they have answered a lot of questions. Whether it is due to the anger from a lot of fans or if they can’t say much as it’s a collab with Disney and are waiting for the livestream I don’t know. This is the quietest I’ve known them following a pack announcement.

They're also apparently not doing a stream.

Really? That's kind of worrisome if true. If they're not going to absolutely stand behind the amazingness of the pack and show everyone prerelease as they normally do, then the question is, "Why not?"
