Or not. I don't want any of those things...except maybe werewolves...maybe. *shrugs* We all have different tastes and play styles. Sometimes you get the content you like and sometimes you don't. Skip what doesn't interest you and buy what does.

You're missing the point... also, I said "for the most part".

If this was a regular space themed pack (with no Star Wars or anything like that), I can almost guarantee you the backlash wouldn't be nearly as large (if any) as it is now. The fact that it's a Star Wars pack is why so many of us are angry and upset about it. This is an obvious cash grab... it's not even up for debate.

I didn't miss the point at all.

I think the backlash would still be about as heavy with any SciFi or occult pack because the realism style players aren't into it at all.

Sims 3: Supernatural and Sims 3: Into The Future didn't receive negative backlash like this... nor did Sims 4: Vampires or Sims 4: Realm Of Magic... even Sims 4: Strangerville didn't have this kind of backlash! There may have been some people who criticized these packs, but it wasn't a huge backlash... so you'd be wrong there.

People are simply sick and tired of these obvious cash grabs.

Part of the reason may be that we were getting 3-4 expansion packs a year plus new major store content every two weeks. I don't know. I'm not really interested in the Star Wars themed stuff in the Sims. I do love Star Wars -- and I love many Star War games. It's just a weird marriage to me.

I think a big part of the problem for me is that I'm waiting for something to make Sims 4 deeper, and light saber battles won't do it. I'm coming to the conclusion that Sims 4 will likely never be for me. I love RPGs, I love fantasy, and for me, there's no reason for Sims to fill either of those spots when there are other games that do those much better.

I don’t know why you can’t view this as a regular Space pack. It will have build things in it where people can virtually build their own world if we want. I figure this will be a bit like jungle adventure. I’m just hoping they include a hotel lot ( which can be used in any world), and casino stuff.

The biggest problem when they release a pack you don't personally like or want to buy/play is the fact that it will take SO LONG for the next opportunity to get a pack you may like. They've been saying a new game pack is on the way for a while now. For those of us who have zero interest in this Star Wars Game Pack, where does that leave us? It means we now have to wait MONTHS for them to announce another pack and HOPE that the next pack is something we will enjoy. To me, that is the most upsetting part.

I already was not interested in the Knitting pack and now since I'm not interested in the Star Wars pack, that is now 2 in a row that do not speak to me as a player. They are not doing good as far as I'm concerned at this moment in time. I am disappointed. I hope they come up with another pack soon and that the next pack will appeal to me.

I totally agree. In the perfect world they should have a team focused on cranking out main expansion packs people want and request on a timely schedule. Then an entirely separate team to make these sideshow game pack projects and more niche stuff packs. That way, if you don’t like one, the wait isn’t as unbearably long until the next. It kind of makes me miss the TS3 store!

I think they are separate teams already, I'm not sure how they divide their people around but when their programmers are done with one pack they probably just move on to the next one. To be fair, making 4-5 packs in a year is pretty impressive (even if those packs are arguably lacking in content).

But I would have liked for them to have planned this a bit better, right now it feels like they are just making whatever pack that comes to mind so that the game itself just feels like a mess. Firefighters after six years? They should have been made and probably included with Get To Work in 2015.

I don't envy the programmers who are probably spending a lot of time just making sure that all these packs work together. Any other pack that they will make now will have to take Star Wars into consideration with everything they do. Gotta make sure that when they make that farming pack that your droid will be able to navigate in your garden, and you gotta make sure that your force powers can affect werewolves...

"Firefighters after six years? They should have been made and probably included with Get To Work in 2015" the base game in 2014.

    Fixed it for you! <3o:)

lol, thank you. Yeah they probably should have been included in the base game.

It would have been cool to play as a firefighter in Get To Work though.

Honestly, I gotta question why they scheduled things the way they did. All the pack releases this year are very niche, and you could argue that 2-3 of those packs are really similar and should have been part of one pack.

I feel the same, after I bought Eco Lifestyle I told myself. "No more buying packs at release". And well... that might turn into "No more buying packs until Maxis improves the game".

After this reveal, I'm honestly starting to feel bad about criticizing Eco Lifestyle... :# Even that pack isn't nearly as bad as this.

You're judging something that hasn't even released yet. I don't understand.
    1. Years of experience allow us to make educated guesses
    2. Trailers usually make the games look more indepth and fun than the pqcks actually are.
    3. Star Wars is not my thing. Even if the pack turns out great, I still wouldn't want it.

Yes to #1 and #2, after 30+ packs I think we can safely assume what’s under the set dressing of a new trailer.

    And also yes to #3

That is another big problem. They pick one theme and divide it up over several packs, making it take so much longer to get a fully developed theme. And months go by in between. Then you wait more months for the next pack only if you don’t like it, you’ll be waiting even more months for the pack after that one.

I don't mind if a pack isn't up my alley. And I already have lots of stuff in the game and I don't need more.

How do you build a world in TS4? They all have fake buildings and backdrops in them that you can't remove.

The Star Wars game pack will be one of the best-selling game packs compared to the others. :#

This right here. The Star Wars fan base is enormous and multigenerational.

I haven't bought anything since Discover University - and that one was a disappointment for me. So more than 9 months of waiting and hoping that they will finally release something interesting and then I get slapped in the face by yesterday's announcement.
I was a huge TS4 'enthusiast', but over the said period of time, I just keep watching my favourite, and the only game I play, going downhill. I went from playing for at least couple of hours everyday to not playing the game for weeks or even months. I am really sad because of this and hope something will change for the better.

Nobody is worse off this time than previously. If you don't have any interest in several packs, then that is just plain unfortunate. That's just life being life. It's no one's fault.

The Sims is a game that helped me get through some really hard times in my life... in some ways, it actually saved my life as a kid because it was my way of being able to cope with bullying in middle and high school. The Sims 2 and 3 were reasons for me to keep pushing through life because they brought me happiness.

It's upsetting to see the franchise go down the way it is...

You do realize that negative people tend to react faster and more often to things than positive people right? Just because you are seeing and hearing a lot of negativity doesn't mean that's all there is to hear and see. It doesn't even mean that is the majority of thought. It just means that the negativity is louder at the moment.
The Sims is NOT a game, it's a lifestyle choice.

See, I'm on the fence in this whole "why Star Wars?!" discussion that's going on in the forums, but I think you make a very valid point. I'm not sure why you're being called entitled for expressing your disappointment. And I'm saying this as someone who was very happy with Tiny Living, Eco Living, and the Knitting pack, plus the off-the-grid additions. That all fits so well into my play style and I'm grateful for it. It makes it a little less hard to wait for the next pack. But I can recognize that each of those packs are kind of niche and this SW pack is even worse. I think it's totally reasonable to wish for a pack that caters to a broader range of players after everything we've gotten this year. Even from my happy place, I don't really feel heard by the creators, so I can't imagine what it's like for you and players like you.

Out of pure curiosity- what kind of new content would make your game more enjoyable?

I would like more stuff for my Sims to do at home. But, I want stuff I may want to do myself in real life. I think that would be cool. I’m not sure what that would look like but I know it when I see it.

If you want the pack, that's nice. I'd rather they make the game playable and fix issues instead of rushing packs out the door to appease the higher powers. We know it'll be buggy and mess up save files whether you have the pack or not because game testing is for the weak (the players).

Hard not to do this, but back in my day we only got one pack per year. ;)

Yeah but those were GOOD packs, filled with cool features. And they were also only $30-$40, not $120 for 4 mediocre packs.

Yep why more packs isn't always a good thing. Sometimes less is more and I prefer quality over quantity. I never was a fan of the whole stuff pack idea. Felt like a way to chop up themes when those were introduced.

I also haven't bought anything in 2020. Nothing, including the upcoming pack, has looked good enough to buy.

My review of the packs of 2020 so far:
Tiny Living- barely any "tiny" items, and why do we need a separate pack to build a tiny house? Can't we already do that?
Eco Lifestyle- Cool ideas, horrible execution
Knifty Knitting- Cute and niche, but not too exciting
    Star Wars- ???! $#%$ 45$%^&$ !!

2020 has been the worst year yet. I don't know when they'll release another pack I'm interested in, but I'm tired of waiting around. I just play other games now.

There are two big things that bug me
The first is lack of creativity. There is no intricate web of lore or connections in this game. There is no unique approach to tying any idea into the sims. It’s just dumped in.
And secondly but most detrimentally especially now is that they keep reusing the same actions. The same expressions. The same dances. Like what the 🐸🐸🐸🐸? Did the people who can do that quit and they haven’t hired anyone new? It’s tiring and underwhelming.
They add a cheer squad in uni but there’s no actual cheering or dancing. Ok.
They put little scene dance parts in Get Famous but they aren’t knew nor make sense for the scene. Ok.
They use the same vaccuum for Eco Living as they do in the feee upgrade to gather crops. Ok.
They make a star wars expansion filled with free stuff they have added to the game over time and now want to charge us for it. Ok.

There's some players that voted for SiFi,
some voted for Eco, some voted for Knitting &
    some voted for more Occults.
Everybody is different with different interests & I think the devs do try.
Unfortunately, do to the differences they can't please everyone.
