The biggest problem when they release a pack you don't personally like

I'm disappointed with the theme but I'm not that bothered about waiting for something new. I wasn't very interested in Eco Living and I'm even less interested in it since I read about all the issues it causes. I like Nifty Knitting and I am happy not to be in a place where I desperately want new content to enjoy the game. Next time I get bored, I'll just take a break from it. Having said that, there are packs I'd like to see and I'm ready to be excited if they come along.

On the other hand, I've been waiting for a certain book for quite a few years, and I basically spent my teens and later my adulthood waiting for books in favourite franchises to be written, so it's just part of life for me.

Sure has been a stellar year for The Sims, huh? Tiny Living, the 20th anniversary, Eco Lifestyle, Nifty Knitting and now this. It's like they're answering every fan's wants and desires by tackling such popular and long-requested themes. And that's not even counting stuff like the wonderful MAC make-up.

Boo hoo. God forbid they make one pack that isn't targeted towards family players.

I'm just so tired of entitled players demanding everything be targeted to them or else they throw a screaming fit. Not everything is going to appeal to everyone, that's how it goes. There's been 35 packs in TS4, four of which have been for players who want out-there gameplay. Four. Out of 35. People who like out-there gameplay have had to put up with a lot more waiting for packs they like. And every time family players have managed to ruin it for everyone else because they can't handle the fact that the world doesn't revolve around them.
I dunno if this was aimed with me in mind, but I do like occults and would have liked a space pack. Even though I much prefer fantasy to sci-fi, aliens deserve more and I'd gladly incorporate it into some of my everyday gameplay. I just don't want this blatant product placement and another franchise being jammed into The Sims 4. If it was more Star Wars-inspired but still had its own identity - as with RoM and StrangerFail- I'd be happy.

It's really saddening. All the packs since Island Living have been kinda meh for me but I bought them anyway because usually I can get something good from them, usually the cas items and now they come with this Star Wars trash that literally has nothing in it that I would ever want in a sims game. If I wanted to play Star Wars I would go play Star Wars. I play the sims because I want to play with families, play with life. I do not want to play sci-fi garbage that doesn't fit in the sims franchise in any way what so ever.

I am beyond disappointed with the sims team today and I have completely lost hope for the Sims franchise.
    I wanted this pack..
But gonna be honest...it's running on empty...
    Who wants TS5??? <3 MEEEEE!

The Sims 5 will probably be developed the same team that developed this pack and the Sims 4. It probably won't be any better than what we have now because they don't listen and they don't care what people want in a sims game.

The biggest problem when they release a pack you don't personally like or want to buy/play is the fact that it will take SO LONG for the next opportunity to get a pack you may like. They've been saying a new game pack is on the way for a while now. For those of us who have zero interest in this Star Wars Game Pack, where does that leave us? It means we now have to wait MONTHS for them to announce another pack and HOPE that the next pack is something we will enjoy. To me, that is the most upsetting part.

I already was not interested in the Knitting pack and now since I'm not interested in the Star Wars pack, that is now 2 in a row that do not speak to me as a player. They are not doing good as far as I'm concerned at this moment in time. I am disappointed. I hope they come up with another pack soon and that the next pack will appeal to me.

That’s been the whole year for me haha

Me too, I haven’t liked anything since uni. It’s been a bad year for the sims for me.

... fans have mutually agreed on quite a few things we all want in the game (farming, amusement parks, more family play, casinos, werewolves, etc)... .

Or not. I don't want any of those things...except maybe werewolves...maybe. *shrugs* We all have different tastes and play styles. Sometimes you get the content you like and sometimes you don't. Skip what doesn't interest you and buy what does.

Yeah, I don't particularly want farming, amusement parks, or casinos either. I'm glad we get a variety of options. I'm not particularly interested in laundry, but I'm glad it's there for the people who obviously do want it.

I don't understand why people keep referring to packs as "cash grabs." Of course they're cash grabs! Every video game ever made, unless it's a self-help video game made by a non-profit organization or something similar, is a cash grab. Video game companies are in business to make money. If their games don't make money, then they stop making them. That's how capitalism works.

The way I see it, the biggest problem is that players don't have the impact on decision-making that they feel they ought to have. Whether or not that is a good or bad thing, I don't know. But I do know that the developers aren't our slaves who must obey our every command. Their company decides what to invest in and not. It is not our call as players. If they make a bad decision, the money will tell. End of story.

I agree with you so I'm very happy with this Star Wars pack. Finally a pack I can enjoy after all these months. And while i didn't specifically ask for it to be based on the disney park galaxy's edge, I did ask for more Star Wars in the sims 4 in one of the surveys. Which means team Maxis listened to their customers... well, to me I guess... you're all welcome :D

I guess people who play exclusively occults and people who are exclusively into family play (like only stuff involving children because I see they don't consider all other 'real life' packs, which is most of them, as aimed for them) probably feel like this most years.

I'm lucky 'cause I like more than one gameplay style so I usually don't go that long without a pack that interests me, but the past few have been so... underwhelming. I agree it's been a weird year. I actually needed something like this new announcement, but I'm not getting ahead of myself because it could still be badly executed lol

And I agree @Rouensims lol It does bother me how they split up related content into different packs, but what could I expect? This is also why I product placement is the least of my concerns lol

I will, I want those too! To be fair, the list of things I did ask for in that survey was a tad bit longer than just 'more Star Wars please'. But still, I can't believe I forgot to ask them for dragons.

I feel that. Haven't wanted or bought a pack since strangerville came out. Which incidentally (controversial) I did buy (on sale, obvi) because I just wanted to FINALLY have some Sims in at least ONE world that were impacted by the environment they lived in.

Anyway. Not loving the star wars thing, hopefully 2021 has packs we can enjoy. 2020 really is garbage we just have to throw this whole year away.

Hey I hear you. Imagine how I felt when we got Nifty Knitting right after Eco Lifestyle and Tiny Living before that lol When quarantine had just started, I thought I was gonna lose my mind with boredom. Star Wars is the first pack I've been interested in since University.

This exactly. I got Tiny Living and Nifty Knitting because there were a few small things that I was able scavenge for my enjoyment. The Eco theme? Bleh. I like the build/buy and some CAS but it's an EP so kind of a waste of a large pack, in my eyes. But I know, people wanted it way back when the vote turned into Laundry. I just don't personally understand it at all.

This year has been as mundane as the early years of Sims 4 when everything was "safe", "normal", and ultra banal. I was thinking there wouldn't be a pack I liked until next year. Thank goodness this Star Wars pack saved my Covid lockdown. :D

Ohmigosh, I would love a retro pack! My Sims are always in a weird blended mid-century/present/fantasy world. I always love getting new midcentury assets!

The one thing that makes me kind of mad (and I could be totally wrong) is that it looks like they invested way more money into this pack than others. That's just so unfair. Like did Disney throw money at them? Did EA think that because it would maybe pull in Star Wars fans into the Sims that they were willing to spend more money? It really frustrates and upsets me. The CAS items alone had to cost way more money than normal.

I totally agree. In the perfect world they should have a team focused on cranking out main expansion packs people want and request on a timely schedule. Then an entirely separate team to make these sideshow game pack projects and more niche stuff packs. That way, if you don’t like one, the wait isn’t as unbearably long until the next. It kind of makes me miss the TS3 store!

I'd like it better if they went back to telling us about multiple content in advance, then I could figure out what to look forward to.

Knitting and Eco Living were both packs that I was not overly excited about but could get interested in. Not everything in them appealed to me. Some of the content in EL really did not, but I'm still enjoying the pack. Likewise I got knitting to add the skill and activity. I'm still exploring that but yes, some of my sims will knit.

The Star Wars pack is just for a different type of player than me. I'm really not kidding. I think there are enough of them out there for it, but it's not my niche. Hopefully the next pack will interest me more but yes, I'd rather know about several packs in advance.
