The biggest problem when they release a pack you don't personally like

The biggest problem when they release a pack you don't personally like or want to buy/play is the fact that it will take SO LONG for the next opportunity to get a pack you may like. They've been saying a new game pack is on the way for a while now. For those of us who have zero interest in this Star Wars Game Pack, where does that leave us? It means we now have to wait MONTHS for them to announce another pack and HOPE that the next pack is something we will enjoy. To me, that is the most upsetting part.

I already was not interested in the Knitting pack and now since I'm not interested in the Star Wars pack, that is now 2 in a row that do not speak to me as a player. They are not doing good as far as I'm concerned at this moment in time. I am disappointed. I hope they come up with another pack soon and that the next pack will appeal to me.

Exactly... I feel like I have been tempering my expectations for close to a year. The last pack I bought was university, and nothing has even tickled my interest since. It's been a long dry 6 months and my interest in the game at this point is next to dead. :(

With TS5 probably making it's debut next year, this might be the last pack we see. It's also why I never get excited about upcoming packs, because I realize it's probably going to be something I'm not interested in

Nobody is worse off this time than previously. If you don't have any interest in several packs, then that is just plain unfortunate. That's just life being life. It's no one's fault.

I feel the same, after I bought Eco Lifestyle I told myself. "No more buying packs at release". And well... that might turn into "No more buying packs until Maxis improves the game".

After this reveal, I'm honestly starting to feel bad about criticizing Eco Lifestyle... :# Even that pack isn't nearly as bad as this.

The Star Wars game pack will be one of the best-selling game packs compared to the others. :#

Well, apart from EA's. They will be the ones who are worse off when they see dwindling interest in the franchise that we love. Then it will be us, the playerbase, that suffers when they decide to potentially invest less time and money into the Sims. Its a downward spiral and its their doing.

@Lustianicia Sometimes, a surprise is nice - don't you agree? I'm certainly not used to getting only things I specifically ask for. That would make my birthday and Christmas very boring, too.

The Sims is a game that helped me get through some really hard times in my life... in some ways, it actually saved my life as a kid because it was my way of being able to cope with bullying in middle and high school. The Sims 2 and 3 were reasons for me to keep pushing through life because they brought me happiness.

It's upsetting to see the franchise go down the way it is...

Maybe you expect too much from a game? I don't know that a game can keep you year after year throughout life. People are better suited for that kind of meaningful commitment.

... fans have mutually agreed on quite a few things we all want in the game (farming, amusement parks, more family play, casinos, werewolves, etc)... .

Or not. I don't want any of those things...except maybe werewolves...maybe. *shrugs* We all have different tastes and play styles. Sometimes you get the content you like and sometimes you don't. Skip what doesn't interest you and buy what does.

You're missing the point... also, I said "for the most part".

If this was a regular space themed pack (with no Star Wars or anything like that), I can almost guarantee you the backlash wouldn't be nearly as large (if any) as it is now. The fact that it's a Star Wars pack is why so many of us are angry and upset about it. This is an obvious cash grab... it's not even up for debate.

And that is your right. Things rarely stay the same forever, including games. It's just the way it goes.

Do you really think a Sims 5 will be any better given the state of Sims 4. Lack of patches and holding out pieces from one to stick in another like the ladders which should have been Tiny Living but held hostage for Eco Living. It's all about money and pandering to certain groups.

It is the first pack I have held no interest for and it is incredibly disappointing, I can't even begin to imagine how those of you who have been this way for several packs now feel. Being honest, if I had to go that long without anything I was interested in being added to the game, I would have already lost patience and said goodbye to the game, I commend those that have stuck it out for so long and hope your wait will be over soon.

I didn't miss the point at all.

I think the backlash would still be about as heavy with any SciFi or occult pack because the realism style players aren't into it at all.

Sims 3: Supernatural and Sims 3: Into The Future didn't receive negative backlash like this... nor did Sims 4: Vampires or Sims 4: Realm Of Magic... even Sims 4: Strangerville didn't have this kind of backlash! There may have been some people who criticized these packs, but it wasn't a huge backlash... so you'd be wrong there.

People are simply sick and tired of these obvious cash grabs.

I'm fine with not getting all the packs. My pc is not only fine with it, but happy :)

I need to skip a few packs, and this space pack is an easy skip. It might be fun, but it's just not matching my current game. It's much harder when I can't decide and often end up buying a pack that turns out being meh. I'm a long timer, so I don't want added content that is fun just for a short while.

Even if I don't like a pack I still buy it. There will be build/buy items I can use. The floors in the new game pack look great! From what I saw in the trailer there will also be new CAS assets like new hair etc. I am happy for the players that are excited for it. I can't wait to see build/buy and CAS!

Hopefully something I like will come out in the fall.

Hey I hear you. Imagine how I felt when we got Nifty Knitting right after Eco Lifestyle and Tiny Living before that lol When quarantine had just started, I thought I was gonna lose my mind with boredom. Star Wars is the first pack I've been interested in since University.

I always look forward to new content but am fine to give it a miss if it's not for me. I've opted out of a lot. I went from C&D to DU with nothing in-between.
