All this waiting and anticipation of the announcement has me restless, so I’d like to compile a thread of things I want to see in a supposed Galaxy’s edge game pack. If you’re not a Star Wars fan click away, we about to geek out!

First things first, the patch! I’ve seen it said a few times already, but if we’re travelling to Batuu then there’s one crucial update this game needs and that’s curved walls. Can you imagine a fantasy Star Wars world with no curved walls, because I can’t. Coruscant, Lothal, Pantora, Naboo, Tatooine, even Yoda’s hut and the ewok villages all comprise of curved structures, this galaxy loves a round building!
Batuu is no exception, just look at it—full of beautifully old, rusty, curvy storefronts and apartments.

The only other way I can see Batuu brought to life in this game is by using round shells a bit like the apartments in City Living, with buildable interiors, but that would just break my heart, because I want to be able to edit and customise the world to my liking (ugh, the story of my sims 4 life...) so I’m desperately hoping for a free curved walls update, let’s be honest it’s long overdue in this game series.

Now onto the game pack content...

I don’t want this to be a story pack to be honest, I’d much prefer be given the tools to tell my own stories, but with that being said there’s one character I really want to interact with and that’s Vi.

If you’ve read the book Black Spire by Delilah S. Dawson, you’ll know what a crucial character Vi Moradi is to the Galaxy’s Edge story.
She’s a spy sent to the Outer Rim planet Batuu by the Resistance, to recruit allies for the Alliance to Restore the Republic in the war against the First Order. When her ship crash-lands she is left with nothing but a melancholic worker droid named Pook (who reminds me a lot of Marvin from Hitchhikers) and an injured ex-First Order captain called Archex, as well as having a wicked concussion, and she basically single-handedly establishes a camp, sources food and water and takes care of the whole group by going into town and finding work at the scrapyard, she's basically superwoman!
While I don't want to replay her story from the book, if all we got of Vi in this pack is her iconic wig and Resistance jacket, I’d be over the moon to be able to make my own Vi Moradi Sim and tell new stories with her. However I hope she’s an actual character living in the town as she is a major part of the Disney park and it'd be so fun to bump into her from time to time.

Another cool feature would be World Adventure style quests that npcs around town could issue out. Depending on the character giving the mission, they could range from fetch quests, to getting to know the locals, trading things at the marketplace etc.

Here is a great map showing off all the locations you can visit in the park and where they are in relation to each other.

Black Spire outpost has some truly stunning architecture, it looks so lived in and run-down, the very aesthetic that makes Star Wars so iconic and unique as a film franchise.
In an ideal world, I'd want to be able to visit every single location featured in both the Disney park, as well as the book, but if that's unrealistic then I'd settle for the most iconic locations: the bars and restaurants, shops etc.

There is a network of caves that Vi explores in the book, which lead to an ancient and derelict civilisation built deep within the landscape by a society known as the Ancients who once inhibited the planet. Full of boobytraps, it's where the resistance eventually builds their base, and in the park you can see ships parked there within the cave entrance, so that’d be a great place to explore and even build a cool cave house!

Merchant row and the Marketplace (which are both so much larger in the book) are where the majority of the vendors sell their wares, from street foods and drinks, to creature plushies and other toys/souvenirs, clothes, jewellery and other accessories, it's a sprawling shopping district packed with many stalls where most of the local populous are employed.

Oga’s Cantina where all the pilots and traders passing through Black Spire go for a good time. The cantina has a wide range of both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks, bubbling and frothing with delicious nibbles adorned on top. The disc jockey droid R-3X provides entertainment for customers with his funky techno beats, so I could see some of his songs being added to a new radio station perhaps.

Ronto roasters and docking bay 7 food and cargo, two restaurants that serve a bounty of galactic treats, not sure how this would work separate from Dine Out, but I hope they figure out a way because they’re such important parts of the Disney park and have such a vast range of yummy foods.

The farmlands surrounding the outskirts of Black Spire, home to a sort of off-the-grid community of farmers and hunters who dislike how busy the outpost is becoming in recent years. I’d especially love an easter egg of Waba the truffleboar, a pig... dog... thing, who joins Vi on her adventure in the book and basically saves her life, maybe a carved wooden figuring or something!

millennium-falcon-approaches-black-spire-outpost.jpg

I also want lots of free space both within and on the outskirts of the outpost. Black Spire is a huuuge spaceport, not at all captured by the confines of the Disney park where everything is so close in proximity, it’s not at all like that in the book.
Taking into account how small the worlds appear to be getting, I’d appreciate 5 free lots to build on, on top of the preexisting stores and marketplaces, and 2 apartment blocks with 2-4 apartments inside each. The book implies that a lot of the locals live in quite modest apartment homes all squished in next to each other, a bit like Anakin’s slave quarters on Tatooine, lots of cosy houses stacked up together.

Game packs usually deliver very well in build mode, Jungle Adventures and Spa Day have some of the best objects in the game, so I’d hope this pack is no different. I expect a fabulously fantastical array of sci-fi inspired build objects and clutter, Batuu is iconic for it's marketplaces with colourful awnings draped from building to building, and cobbled together storefronts composed of old ship parts and rusting metal.

If you've visited the park, you’ll know that all the characters there greet you with “bright suns!” during the day, and at night “rising moons!” among other things. Wouldn’t it be cool if townies in the outpost also used this terminology? Obviously any greeting would be in simlish, but I can picture a speech bubble above the Sim’s head with three suns or two moons, implying the colloquial gesture.

It'd be a nice feature to have little autonomous droids that wheel around your home lot, a bit like the roomba from Cats and Dogs, or even remote control droids and toy speeders that kids can pilot themselves!

A handicap for Vi in the book is her resistance-affiliated outfit and how the locals won’t trust her until she assimilates to their more neutral style of dress, which consists of a lot of brightly coloured neck scarves if I remember rightly. Seems like the perfect chance to add a new category to the accessories tab, for neck scarves, head scarves, shawls, kerchiefs and other adornments.

A lot of Batuu citizens dress quite modestly, in soft brown and beige robes adorned with scarves, but many of the spacers and travellers that pass through the outpost standout and don’t bother to fit in with the local dress code, so the town merchants tend to ramp up the prices when trading. It’d be nice if a Sim visiting the outpost could get better deals on supplies if they’re dressed like a local, but I’d also like a selection of random spacer and smuggler outfits too (if I wanted to play a different story!)

There’s a Twi’lek merchant in town called Arta, who sells scarves and other garments, all handmade from soft silky fabrics and brightly coloured. Speaking of Twi'leks, that brings me to another feature I’d love to see and that’s more alien costumes to choose from, such as Twi’lek headtails in varying colours and skin patterns, for all ages too, not just the adults! As well as many other species of alien from the films, Wookiees, Togruta, Pantoran and Mirialan face paintings etc.

I picture four distinct collectibles in this pack, which is a lot for a game pack, but I remain optimistic!
  • Star Wars memorabilia
If you visit Dok-Ondar’s den of antiquities, you’ll find a huge range of souvenirs inspired by the Star Wars universe, from busts of famous characters, to books, mugs, posters, necklaces, costumes and all sorts! The collector in me wants to go there in real life and buy literally everything, but I’d settle for a tidy sum of about 15-20 collectible pieces of memorabilia in the game pack!

  • Black Spire Outpost/Batuu themed wooden sculptures
Two of the merchant buildings in Black Spire Outpost, the Toydarian Toymaker—owned by Zabaka who sells cute plushies, and the Wooden Wookie—owned by Lunacca, who I think sells hand carved wooden toys and sculptures, would make a neat collection for the younger sims to complete, maybe not all of the toys are available for purchase so you’d have to complete a few fetch-quests in order to gain the complete collection from the vendors.

  • Holocrons
For those unfamiliar, a holocron is a force user’s device to store information, knowledge, force techniques, as well as a tool to incite force visions, and occasionally used as keys in Jedi and Sith temples.
I can picture again a collection of ten holocrons, each of which—like in the Disney park—enlightens the player with Star Wars lore, or just goofy dad jokes.
    de14d89d455315570996c8bc0650837f.jpg
  • Kyber crystals
The key component of a lightsaber, a mystical crystal that resonates and amplifies the wielder’s connection to the force. I picture a collection of 10 kyber crystals in various colours: blue, purple, pink, green, teal, yellow, white, orange, red and black.
And how cute would it be if the crystals were shaped like tiny little plumbobs!
I imagine these would be the hardest collection to complete and require a high level career at Savi’s Workshop.

A large portion of the plot of Black Spire is Vi working as a gatherer for Savi and Son Salvage, a front for the secretive Savi’s Workshop where lightsabers are constructed from parts gathered by the gatherers in the scrapyard on the outskirts of Black Spire Outpost.
I think this would make an amazing and perfectly fitting career for the pack. Playing as a gatherer, Sims would work their way to earning Savi’s trust and eventually have the opportunity to build their own lightsaber from parts acquired either in the workshop, or found in the scrapyard.
I expect to be able to visit and browse Savi’s salvage yard, the shop and also the workshop once a high enough career level is reached.

saviworkshop_by_hazzaplumbob_de36t46-fullview.png?token=eyJ0eXAiOiJKV1QiLCJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJzdWIiOiJ1cm46YXBwOiIsImlzcyI6InVybjphcHA6Iiwib2JqIjpbW3siaGVpZ2h0IjoiPD00NDAiLCJwYXRoIjoiXC9mXC9mNzkxMTY0MS1iZjAzLTRkZTEtOTUwOC04NGE0YmY2NzRlNGJcL2RlMzZ0NDYtNzU1NDdiOTEtN2FiZi00YjVkLWE3MWYtNzAwOGE1NmU1NmNmLnBuZyIsIndpZHRoIjoiPD0xMjgwIn1dXSwiYXVkIjpbInVybjpzZXJ2aWNlOmltYWdlLm9wZXJhdGlvbnMiXX0.YtFdfvmU5EQ69Fz42plBaQNrciJ-hzt8zE3QLnSRfF4

The second career I’d enjoy playing is that of a smuggler, there is a ride at the park called smugglers run, after all.
While I’ve never been to Galaxys edge irl, I understand that the smugglers run ride establishes that a certain character, the charming pirate Honda Onaka has teamed up with Chewbacca to endeavour on a few different missions set throughout the galaxy, smuggling, liberating cargo, what have you.
I think this would be a really fun career, and I’d like the Millennium falcon, which is parked in the Batuu Spaceport, to be the rabbit hole destination object that a sim walks to, enters and then flies off in, followed by a series of text adventures (which I don’t care what anyone says, I think are quite fun.) I’d be even more ecstatic if there was a Hondo or a Chewy npc roaming around the town, or a costume of them to dress up in!

millennium-falcon-galaxys-edge-concept-art-04.jpg

So that’s my list of anticipated features, I’m sure I’ve forgotten a bunch and I’ve no idea really what to expect, although compiling this thread has made me realise how big the theme is and I wish it was a full expansion pack! But I hope you enjoyed reading and possibly it made you a little warmer to the idea of a Star Wars pack in the sims, because lord knows this is what I’ve been waiting for the last 6 years!

Till the spire...

I want some standard characters to be NPCs, like Han, Chewbacca, Rey, and Kylo Ren/Ben Solo. The wishing tree and truffleboar sound fun. I would love the Millenium Falcon to be a residential lot. I like the idea from another thread about being an intergalactic diplomat. I definitely want Wookies and Porgs in my game. A controllable character Porg would be awesome, but I know it would never happen.

I’d love to have the falcon as a residential lot as well, but I struggle to see how they’d build it as such, it’d be enormous if you could fit a whole interior inside!

What I would hope for in a Star Wars/Batuu pack

I want the Falcon, but as a semi-secret/fixed lot (like the science lab from Get to Work, or the lab from strangerville) because it would pain me to see gutted and "remodeled" Falcons on the gallery.

I don't really want movie specific NPC's. Yes, I want the Falcon there, but Movie specific NPC's ties it too closely to the setting between Ep 8 and Ep 9, which limits things, story play wise. That said, I wouldn't mind the suitable costume assets in CAS to make my own Rey, Kylo Ren, Han Solo, Chewbacca, General Hux, etc.

Speaking of CAS, my ideal would be a mix of costume pieces - and I want them in pieces, not just whole body outfits where I can only make the one look - and some Disney Bounding real world elements that evoke the look of the films.

I wouldn't mind a story aspiration like in Strangerville, but I'd like it to be less intrusive than the Strangerville plot, so you can play in Batuu and not touch the storyline, or you can follow it. I also want it to have more branches and options, rather than a single through line. And preferably be able to play it as either First order or Resistance.

I want lightsabers and lightsaber combat, even if it's lifted from Get Famous. I am 100% okay with that.

I want droids and porgs, even if they're just drones with different movement mechanics, rather than their own personality. And I want some customization options for said droids.

If I get none of this, I'll be fine with it, but I think, if it is Star Wars, I'll get at least some of these things.

I haven't seen Star Wars, and I prefer realistic sims game play, but I do love sci-fi stuff and would be excited for a Star Wars pack, in hopes that I could use it in my realistic family play too. I really really want to see models and collectibles and posters and t-shirts that are SW fan for my geeky dad character. I want to see toy light sabres that my kids can play with, I want to see a better (smaller) telescope and astronomy hobby, naming stars, finding constellations etc. Maybe an astronaut career, Space Camp, etc. I think some of these things could work great in a SW themed pack and really hope this is indeed going to be the theme.

This got me excited! I agree with the curved walls update - in my opinion they can't really present this pack without curved walls. It would just look so awkward. A round building (the Spaceport) is even on the main pack icon (assuming that the icon is Batuu, and I think it is). And I was just thinking about how I wanted Vi to be the pack's main character. I could really see her as one of the three Sims on the box art. Would be cool imo because she isn't featured in any main canon film or series, right? Only in books/comics if I remember correctly.

I think Oga's Cantina is a given if they're doing a Batuu world. It's a really recognizable place for both players and visitors of the theme parks. They'll probably include the market as well in the potential world, which I'm very excited about. Oh and I hope the ancient ruins are accessible. I'm not expecting Smuggler's Run and Rise of the Resistance (the two main rides in the theme parks) to be featured as interactive play-through experiences or something. The gameplay would probably have its own narrative, like you said, with several possible career paths for your Sims to follow. I think there'd just be little references to the rides in the gameplay. Oh and of course the Millennium Falcon has to be there.

About the world size; My guess is that they'd do something inspired by the Disney parks version of Black Spire Outpost, so the more compact version of it. I'm very curious to see if they'll include any apartments - your ideas with the crammed spaces sound really cool! Also how will split it up in several neighborhoods? Maybe there'll just be two relatively larger ones like with Strangerville?

Of course, this is all assuming the pack will be SW. But I'm almost sure at this point and we need some confirmation! Hopefully this week.

But what if it ISN'T a Star Wars pack? What if it turns out to be something totally unrelated to SW? If it does turn out to be something unrelated to SW,then how will the people expecting a SW pack react?

Don't set your expectations too high-you might end up really disappointed if the GP is not a SW pack.
Why do you hide inside these walls?

The Sims has currently lost its identity. Bring it back for TS5

Well, you do make a pack like this sound exciting. I love the idea of curved walls, and shops that sell the things you were talking about.l, especially the wood shop, that makes toys for children. And, you mentioned a farmer. I’d love if they put farm animals like a cow, chicken, sheep, pig and rabbit in the pack. I thought farming would also go well with a medieval pack as well.

If it's not a Star Wars pack, then it's not a Star Wars pack. Even if it is indeed a Winter Holiday/Romance pack, I can deal with that. I'm certainly not going to turn around and hate on the pack in frustration like so many did for Eco Lifestyle after the Farming Hoax. For one, this isn't a hoax, just a (potential) misinterpretation of a leak. For another, I don't actually care what packs we get. If I like them, I buy them. If I don't, I buy them later when I've run into four or five gallery builds that use items from them, or they're the base item/programing for some CC I really like, or I otherwise discover that they have elements I can use after all. I've found something useful to me in every pack. And yes, that includes both My First Pet Stuff and Luxury Party Stuff.

    Yup.

I see that sort of thing all the time with movies, including Star Wars movies. A friend of mine calls it "the magic movie in my head," and I call it "this invalidates all my fanfic," but what we both mean is that people get so attached to what they imagine a thing is going to be based on speculation that if the actual thing varies from that, it's seen as a betrayal and the actual thing is seen as wrong because it's not what they thought it would be.

I've been pretty clear that I think this is not just a Star Wars pack but one where Batuu is a vacation destination, not an actual introduction of Star Wars as a real thing into the Sims world. But if I'm wrong about any of that. If it turns out the icon leak was actually EA aiming at a ski chalet, mountain, and snowflakes and accidentally coming up with a dead ringer for Batuu, well, okay. If it's a farming pack, or an underwater pack, or somehow if that represents Norse mythology or the afterlife or whatever else I've seen theorized, fine. I might be more or less interested in any of those, but whatever.

If it's not a Star Wars pack then it's not a Star Wars pack *shrugs*. That just means we get something else instead. It's not really that big a deal.

Besides, many people expecting a star wars pack don't even want a star wars pack haha. Myself, I do, depending on what's in it, but there's loads of other packs I'd like to and I'm sure we'll get something cool.

But let's say we get some theme I'd totally hate, like werewolves, well it's STILL not a big deal. I'd just save money and wait for the next one.

My idea was sorta like a Castaways Exploration pack.

You need fuel, your Spaceship upgrades actually matter now, and the new world is really a Planet system. The main neighborhood would be Battu and the smaller ones would be its moons where the player has to explore for new collectibles, food, powers, technology and secrets. The player has to set up camps and there’s actual danger afoot. Also Ancient Force artifacts and temples that can bestow the player with knowledge about the force.

The Space Smuggler career could offer unique opportunities as well such as shady business dealings. But if we are going Star Wars we need lightsabers. Maybe the Smugglers can duel with the Space Rangers and they can see an update as well that allows the player to patrol the cosmos for extra career progression and special unlocks.

Battu can have new alien types or powers, and a new Interstellar Trading Post lot type where NPCS will land their ships and converse. Now NPCS can naturally use Space Ships too.

Because it's a GP, I think we would get a grand total of five lots. I hope people don't set their expectations too high for whatever new world we get with the next GP, regardless of the theme.

And yeah, I'd be stoked for Star Wars or just general sci-fi, but I'd be just as happy for any of the other theories (ski resort, underwater, etc.)

At this point, the most exciting thing for me would be the curved walls lol. I would never dare dream about them and risk actual, real disappointment.

Don't think we'll get curved walls anytime soon. For curved walls they would also need to add curved windows, doors, furniture and wall hangings and those will have to change in size according to how large your room is. They might give us shell buildings with round walls.

Yep, that sounds about right. That would mean square or octagonal rooms inside round shells, which would be - a choice. But certainly one that wouldn't surprise me :D

Only a game pack, but as it’s a collaboration between Maxis and Disney, hopefully a bigger game pack than normal? Based on nothing but wishful thinking.

Not the end of the world I guess, but a missed opportunity to add a long asked for feature, and a chance to compete with Paralives’ insanely comprehensive building tools which include not only curved walls but also slanted walls—which Batuu has both of, with its tapered cylindrical structures.

I would so love a Galaxy Game Pack that is sort of based on Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate, &
1978 TV Show Buck Rodgers in the 24th Century.

Yeah, the advantage of a generic sci-fi pack would be that they could draw influences from a bunch of different shows and movies. The downside would be maybe a lack of focus that leaves it feeling either bland or scattershot, with not enough pieces that really represent any of the different influences to make something that feels like any one influence.

Like not just "go to this world" "wear this outfit" "eat this food"
