So Many game bugs! Sims frozen on place

lisax4156lisax4156 Posts: 62 Member
Hi all.

I have most expansions except for eco, most of the game and stuff packs.

These games are super buggy. The more content I bought and downloaded the more buggier it got.

The biggest bug that's bothering me right now is when I am playing my Sims freeze and don't move. They can stay frozen in place regardless if I've long cancelled out whatever it is they were doing. I've had them stand in place doing nothing for 12+ sim.hours.

My other sim almost died from being in the heat (he was sunbathing at the time.)

I've gone into build mode ad a work around and it doesn't work. I've done the debugging code and that doesn't work.

I know it's not my PC as that's only 4 mos old.
I belong to a Sims FB group and most everyone is also complaining about the sim freezing thing.

Does anyone have any ideas? It's constant..not a 1 time thing. It's making the game virtually unplayable it happens to frequently.
ETA: I do not play with mods. The only cheat I play with is motherlode..and that one debugging one once.

Thanks all! Happy swimming!

The easiest way to unfreeze a sim without stopping your game would be to have your sim travel to another location, by hitting M. This will put you in map mode. It doesn't matter which lot. I use to have this problem all the time, not so much anymore. The same can be done for a sim you don't control, by bringing that sim with you when you travel.

Personally, reseting the sims usually works for me. That and going to CAS. Occasionally going to another lot if NPCs are the one having issues.

The exact same thing is happening to me and the usual resetting doesn't work. It's not like they're left completely unmoving or stuck, it's like they keep doing the current action but they're not actually doing it.

Even resetting them takes a while to actually spur into action.

It happens with all my active sim and all NPCs at the same time every time.

They can't travel either until they're ready to. You can queue the action, but they will stand there for a few minutes before they actually do.

And yeah, it happens every other action. I've started recording it lol

Have you put in a bug report?
The Sims is NOT a game, it's a lifestyle choice.

I mee too'ed a couple of reports that will probably get merged soon. There's a few of them :/ I expect the next patch will cover most of these, I just hope it comes soon and doesn't result in too many new issues

I've been experiencing something like this too. I'm also having some jumping and lag. I thought it might have been from a gallery lot I plunked down with too much MOO (de MOOing was not successful) so I bulldozed it, that fixed most of the lag but not the other stuff. I started noticing it over the weekend after an update and it's still going on as of Monday evening. I just repaired my game, I'll see if that helps tomorrow.

This has happened to me the last couple months. I haven’t found a method that works yet but I typically use a combo of saving the game, go to manage worlds, CAS, or delete the object that they’re stuck in (ex: chair).

I get this too they can stay frozen for hours, but normally I reset the sim and it works it became a habit for me to reset the sim that now I always reset when I see they are taking to long for a certain task. If reseting doesn't work I try to travel to a different lot like previous simmers said already

I think I'm also having this thing called jump, if jump you mean when a sim is going to a place like going from bedroom to bathroom, then teleports backwards to the bedroom and then teleports again froward to the bathroom. So yeah I'm having this issue too I don't know why but I know is not my computer problem since I have a really good computer.

I've had that issue, especially today. I'm trying an experiment -- deleting the localthumbcache.package file before starting a game session; I'll see if that works.

That seems annoying, i dont think i have it or maybe it only happened once or twice so i forgot. On the other hand, i have been having this teleprting bug like crazy, last senario was when a sime was sitting then teleported to a standing t pose, but it also has other forms sorta like the jump thing mentioned previously. I kinda just assumed that was normal of the game for some reason lol.

If you have a Windows pc, try opening up task manager sometime while the game is running--I think you'll be amazed at how much CPU and hard drive resources are being used, even with no programs running in the background. That can definitely slow your game down, and cause freezes
